Summer garden in full swing. Peas have come and gone for the most part. We enjoyed them very much. In the south here it's too late to plant radishes and most lettuce. We have had good luck with Pinetree's Year Round Lettuce variety and I'll get more in the ground very soon. We will be eating fresh sweet corn in the coming weeks and the raspberries are still producing. I hope to make some more jam.

Your granddaughter and your gardens are beautiful !! My lupine garden has been overtaken by meadowsweet, so I have to replant it next spring. Thanks for sharing.

I really enjoy these garden updates Larry. You’ve got so much going on it’s very interesting….veggies, wild flowers, water features. Your camera skills have improved a LOT too. One of my favorite channels.

Thanks for making my day Bill. I really appreciate your feedback. You might have a suggestion for me. Well over 90% of my views come from people who are not subscribers. I don’t like begging people to subscribe, I feel that if they enjoy the content they will subscribe.
@billb.2673
@billb.2673 4 месяца назад
@@LSatch You would think they would subscribe so they get the latest from you and don’t miss a beat. I don’t really understand it to be honest. I think that’s why so many creators do that “make sure you click subscribe” speech, which I find a little annoying but perhaps it’s necessary. I had an old channel in which I showed how to build backyard ponds. At its peak I had just shy of 70K subscribers but wayyyy more views and comments. I never could understand it.
@LSatch

@@billb.2673 I find it annoying as well, that’s why I don’t say it. I’d rather keep growing slowly than beg for subs. Sorry I missed your channel in the early days.

@@LSatch Well, I like the organic nature of growing a channel solely on good, wholesome content. The one benefit is that the subscribers you do have tend to be really engaged, like minded, and kind folk. My favorite channels all have a relatively low number of subscribers and when I do happen to comment I feel as if I’m part of a small community. I suppose at the end of the day it depends on what your goal is. For some it’s purely monetary and for those people subscriber numbers are obviously necessary. From my chair, your channel is sort of a video diary of your day to day life. A legacy that is captured forever for you children and grandchildren. I think that’s priceless.

@@billb.2673 wow, you get it. That’s exactly why I’m here making videos. I never got to spend much time with my grandparents or know them very well. I want to make sure my grandkids know me and that I value them.

Nice video. It's always nice to go on a bargain plant haul. Carol's rose that I got her for our anniversary is just being eaten all up. I got some Neem Oil today. Hopefully I can rescue it. Glad you had a nice visit with the kids. Has the butterfly bush bloomed yet?
@LSatch
@LSatch 4 месяца назад
Thanks Jimmy. I hope you can save Carol’s rose. I’ve tried growing roses a couple of times without success. I knew the video was getting too long so I didn’t go up to the other bed where your butterfly bush is, but no, it doesn’t have any signs of blooms yet.

Good evening Larry. I think 2 or 3 weeks ago I mentioned in a comment that an acquaintance friend gave me some starts of Black Eyed Susan. They're doing good. To me, they look spindly, I put some dirt around them the other day. I don't want to put too much. Do you think if I prune them back they would come back out and bloom? Or just leave them be? They are getting new growth on the top. Have a good day, and sorry for such a long letter. P.s. I've never grown Black Eyed Susan.
@LSatch

Sorry for the late response Jimmy. I was at my grandson's baseball game last night and didn't get home until around 10 and didn't look at my computer. If it's showing new growth at the top I would leave it alone. The new growth means it's happy where it is. My plants get a black spot on them if I don't treat it. I just use a fungicide once or twice this time of year. I haven't yet this year because we have been getting afternoon thunderstorms everyday for about two weeks.

@@LSatch the plant that was tall and you called it a fake sunflower but you said it needed to be wet all the time so you put it in a round black round plastic container put water and soil in and then covered it with soil. And I asked how does it not get to much water when there are no holes in container? Wouldn’t that cause it not to grow out and up ? Just asking cause I don’t know.
@LSatch
@LSatch 4 месяца назад
@@lorisutherland7728 sorry I caused some confusion Lori. The tall plant in the container without holes is a Cardinal Flower. It does best in swamps and bogs. It also does well on the edge of lakes. The false sunflower is not in that container, I planted it near there a little further down the hill. Hope this helps. Thanks for asking, I should have been more clear.
