Pint is finally here. This place is both amazing and depressing - all this mayhem caused by just TWO people. I just wished we had seen a lot more of Garlemald later. Edit: So apparently Garlemald was originally planned to get its own expansion. But in the end they decided to wrap it all up in one expac since this is supposed to be the finale for the Hydaelyn-Zodiark story after all. Looking back at it now, had they been given more time to flesh out the role quests, those would definitely have been MSQ material considering the individuals you would've interacted with (it would have been nice if those were at least voiced). Those two sisters, ugh. Everytime the radio music kicks in I have to sit there for a while and process what the hell just happened and try to rationalize why they did what they did. And the worst part is this kind of thing actually happens in real life.
on the other hand... Introducing it this way might give us a chance to actually repair it all (kinda like doma, ishgard...) and it would be nice to see Gaius, Nero and Cid at home again.
The "this is thancred" meme has evolved to the point that it is the meme that streamers who havent finished ffxiv get spoiled on and then dissappointed when it happens.
I'd like for you to know that you dont need to make excuses to do some cute crossplay, but if it makes it more fun than all the more power to you! Seeing you stream Nier Automata will be fun regardless, love the writing in that game and it makes me almost as much of an emotional wreck as this game does! Also if that goes well then I say the next challenge should be that you'll dress up in a Y'shtola cosplay! Just for comedic purposes of course!
Emmanellain's characterization in Endwalker is actually _perfect._ He's more competent, less lazy, but still a massive goofball that gets on people's nerves sometimes. Getting your shit together doesn't mean you suddenly become a different person! God, I hate Quintus so much. Every time I get to this point in the story, I feel my blood start to boil. What a fucking loser.
I still don't get why this is thancred even took off its like no one has ever talked over a radio or conference call its normal to announce who you are when talking for the first time
@@cyanmage1 it was the first time most people saw the new cutscene overlay art when you've been through all these duties with just empty text, and then, suddenly, the first piece of communication worthy of seeing the characters face is THANCRED: This is Thancred, it leaves a weird impression
I’m taking a minute out of watching this whole ass vod while I do other things to say. Sup Pint, hair looking good today. I too have long ass unruly hair, so I respect the look.
Admittedly, It took me a while to warm up to this part. I found it really hard to sympathize with the Garleans for most of it; it really wasn't until the bit with Quintus at the end that it all finally clicked for me. These people have been legitimately brainwashed into their beliefs, so much so that they'd rather die than accept that they were wrong. You really do grow to pity them, for their entire world - for as much as it had to happen - to turn upside down on them.
there have been a couple of hints here and there, but this is the part where Ishikawa grabs you by the throat and screams "DO YOU GET THAT GARLEMALD IS IMPERIAL JAPAN YET"
@@xalrathhe be precise the historical cultural/mentality of Imperial Japan set in the geographical analogue of Russia/USSR (along with its cuisine/fashion and a few other cultural elements) with a paint-coat of the Roman Empire (particularly is naming and military etymology).
@@xalrath True, but the Garlean Empire draws a little more inspiration from the Roman Empire than your typical fantasy empire, and the devs specifically cited (in a Famitsu interview back in March of this year) that the Roman Empire (and Russia) were the main inspirations for designing/creating Garlemald.
Yeah, it basically walks you through "The root cause of fascism is not the common people, it is the propaganda state controlled by the elite". They turn every otherwise innocent low/middle class person _into_ a bad person through manipulation of information and social pressure. It's quite horrible.
This last bit infuriated me so much, I fucking hated Quintus lol. He's so blind and brainwashed to all the suffering his people has caused to those who had nothing to do with their own sufferring. The part where he whines about "Why not let us rule you then" is so tone deaf, he doesn't mention the enslavement and abuse they do to those who aren't their own people that are under their rule, case and point, all of Stormblood.
Lyse is my favorite female character that atleast once held the title of Scion. i'm just dissapointed that her biggest development happends with leaving the scions. with Alyse a close 2nd. i have no idea why ppl like Y'shtola though, other then cat ears.
"Why do you reject the unity and prosperity of Garlemald?" Translation: "Why aren't you surrendering to us and our empire, where we will make you the lowest class of citizens without any of the rights or privileges afforded no matter how "high" you try to ascend, where we will use and abuse you and yours to make prosperity for us and ours." Let's just say I was very happy with the conclusion of this particular questline. Full on fist in the air catharsis happy.
yet eorzeans didn't really feel any pity for them when they drove them out, forced them to flee north because they couldn't use magic? Eorzeans didn't show much kindness to garleans in a fight that was entirely unfair from the start, so why do they deserve to be treated like equals now if they get conquered? Garlemald had to struggle and create some shit, build machines to get on equal footing. Eorzea just exists and enjoys the privilege of having overwhelming magic power.
@@crimsonpotemkin Eorzeans didn't drive out Garleans. The Garleans were driven out of Corvus in Southern Ilsabard, very far from Eorzea (by G'raha Tia's ancestors, actually. He's Corvosi). Eorzea and its nations have their issues, but let's not heap imaginary ones on them, eh?
The naming of camp broken glass always chafed with me. Like, the whole problem with Garlemald is that they’ve been subjugating and colonizing other lands, and you’ve been in Garlemald not even an hour and you’re already pulling colonizer stuff.
colonizer stuff is part and parcel of eorzea. Eorzeans didn't just colonize the places where they built their nations, they drove out an entire race of people out of Eorzea (garleans) because they could. They had an advantage of being able to use magic and drove out the lesser race with no magical affinity.
@@crimsonpotemkin the Garleans were driven out of corvos on Ilsabard, not Eorzea. Before Corvos they came from Goug (part of Ivalice) which was in Dalamasca. So the Eorzeans, while definitely guilty of other things, didn’t do anything to the Garleans.
He‘s really walking the line between being funny and obnoxious, can’t really decide yet if I‘m just easily annoyed, or if his hit/miss-ratio when it comes to jokes is just not that great.. or maybe I‘m just too old for that twitch chat level of humor.
What people seem to forget is that the people of Garlemald were once driven out of their ancestral homelands and had to flee north, because they couldn't use magic. To the victor went the spoils. Garleans couldn't fight back so they were driven out. And now, after the victors of that have grown wealthy and prosperous, now they want to come to Garleans and talk about love and peace? Think about how infuriating that must be. It's like if a bully who made you quit school took credit for something you did, got a scholarship and a high paying job, and _then_ came to lecture you on how you should behave. And that's just the first layer. It gets worse, because not only did Garleans eat the L back then, they've also been manipulated and used by ascians. Drafted and forced to go to war. But wait, there's more. After that they're all used as sacrifices to power whatever Fandaniel is cooking. The most tragic nation in Eorzea by far. Almost literally exiled to siberia, had to build a new country from scratch, only for it to be destroyed and the population reduced to basic survival an inch from death. What else do they have left but pride?
Tell me you didn't play the game without telling you didn't play the game. Eorzeans didn't push the Garlean people out of Corvos. Corvos isn't even in Eorzea, it's in southern Ilsabard.
Bot alphinaud and alisaie are 18, time in the 1st moved faster than in the source so they aged much faster. In fact even though they are twins they are both different ages now technically
In the first they may be, but not the source from which they are from. They are not any older than they aught to be. Just like G'raha would be in his 300s, but technically and accurately his real age would be in his 20s.
