LADY 🔥🔥🔥🔥 You declared your own freedom when you said . While showing the berry blazer under the flap..”If I don’t show you, you’ll never see it “. I think I should get you a poster made so you can read it. I am grateful that you take time to share your makes. Here for it.. The squirrels, the crushing, the strings, the distracting threads, the scringy things 🤣 The growth, the perfection, the expectation, the finish.. I’m here for it ❣️ inspired and challenged. Thank you times 40❤❤❤

Over 40 pieces ... expertly curated and crafted. Your 2023 collection is like a how-to blueprint on how to build a wardrobe that reflects one's personal style. I really enjoy your pattern repeats and that I have a very hard time figuring out the pattern because you create really interesting versions. I also like how you touched on sewing for our changing bodies. I realized that I had become recently stumped about what to sew for myself because of weight gain and health stuff. Similar to you I like a more fitted style when I exercise and a more relaxed blouse style when I am not exercising. I also used to be of the mindset that I will sew better things for my smaller self once my body goes back to how it was before. I like how you sew the most excellent garments for all of your body sizes/shapes. I will stop my waiting game and enjoy life/my fabric! Also, your viewers must give you a 2024 "Wear 9 Challenge" so that you can take your beautifully made garments out into the world, even if it is just for a walk up and down your street. I am happy to hear that you will be dusting off your serger for 2024. We will hold you to that as well! LOL! Happy Holidays and if you don't post again "Happy New Year! ... and many more!!!!" 😊

Karen, your work is beautiful! I’ve been sewing for 50 years and you’ve done more French seams and better techniques than me. YOU should be proud of your work and progress. I enjoy watching your makes, successes and failures . as you suggested, choosing the right fabric is a big part of making something you want to wear. Did I understand that you are not wearing most of your makes? They are all wonderful, HOPE YOU will find an occasion to wear them. Jeanine, from south Louisiana

Karon, You're delightful to watch! It's such an inspiration to see all your creations. It motivates me to spend time in my sewing/quilting room and get some things going. Your craftsmanship and productivity are an inspiration! It was fun to tour the collection. There's so much of it that it's a rare chance (compared to our own projects) to see themes! I don't believe we should be handcuffed to proven formulas. Sewing should provide opportunity for joyful experimentation. But most of the time when we pour money and time into a piece it's nice to know in advance that it will work. You've found some surefire things and favorite patterns. Those are like gold to a sewist. To my eye, you've perfected classic blouses, shirt dresses and tailored jackets. Luckily, classic styles really suit your excellent posture, proportions and daily needs. Vivid, cool solids and black & white graphical prints suit you well. Anything with some solid black accents, actually. (Although I saw warms and neutrals that work, too - there are limits to color analysis formulas, as we should know by now!). Short hems and full length looks seem best. Prints are alluring but somehow trickier in an outfit. With these thoughts in mind, I imagine that the safari style shirt-dresses and jackets we're seeing on some runways for 2024 (YSL) could be right up your street, even though they're slightly softer in shape. I also could envision an on-trend cropped blazer or lady jacket being fun to make and working nicely over dresses and wider cut (but flat, not gathered or pleated) pants. Thinking about the pieces you haven't worn I might be detecting a thread. You seem uneasy in girly-er floral prints, heavily gathered and ornamented pieces. Muted colors maybe, too. You shine when an outfit has some verve, precision, geometry. As if amorphous, soft, vague shapes conceal your energy. Is it a sign? Because the garments per se are well made. Maybe pull out only the pieces you don't enjoy wearing and see if you see any commonalities? Take a photo of them laid out? In your shoes I might then sell them to make room for things that give you a mood lift. Someone will love having such high quality garments. Congratulations on your hard work and accomplishments. I look forward to seeing what 2024 brings for you. Good luck happens to those who work at a skill this hard.
@cookeka
@cookeka 8 месяцев назад
I had to read your detailed review and have to admit that some of your perspectives are spot on. I am definitely more attracted to vivid colors, and I like black and white and some animal prints as well. I am cautious about floral prints, but I am specific on the classic style as they are more durable in any style Era. My sewing journey has evolved, and I am truly appreciative of the wealth of knowledge and experience shared with me throughout this journey. I look forward to trying new designs and venturing more into tailored garments and, off course master making pants😃 Thanks for your support, experience, and willingness to share your knowledge. I appreciate it. Happy sewing, and thank you for your time!!

Karon you have an amazing collection of clothing. I really enjoyed the video. I was disappointed to hear your ending after your disappointing experience with the jumpsuit. Don’t beat yourself up you do a fabulous job for someone who has not been sewing that long. I have been sewing for years and I still have failures and this is how we learn. You seem to enjoy sewing so continue to do so because you are a great sewist. Sometimes you need to take a break and maybe that’s what you need but I truly love your style and content. If you give up on the jumpsuit I would make them into separates. if you add a band to the hem of the bodice you will have a cool short sleeve jacket. Not sure if you can get the pants to fit. With the black and white palazzo pants I would wear a plain bright coloured top rather than black or white and then those pants will come into their own. You are like me. I’m forced to use French seams and bias bound seams or flat fell, as I don’t want to take the time to learn how to thread my fancy as serger/coverstitch combo machine. I do appreciate seeing the insides of your makes, as the inside is nearly as important to me.

I’m only 10 minutes into the video & it hurts my soul to hear you say you aren’t wearing your beautiful garments. Your jacket construction is amazing. You might want to size down 1/2” in the neck and shoulders for a fit more to your liking. Go in and alter that 3/8- 1/2 inch off the tweed blazer shoulders (remember to add it to the sleeve cap though - ask me how I know.) Please! It’s too beautiful not to be worn. Edit: I see you commented on the shoulder width on the black/white coat at the end. I just go down a couple sizes @ neck & shoulders and merge back out to my body size in the lower armhole curve and center front area. Works a charm.
