Canadian Angler......just wanted to say thank you for your videos....I just found your older Garmin update video about two weeks ago and I was blown away. It appears I have the same units as you, about the same age, and I too was told this update would be free. Between that and the memory issue seems like Garmin this update seems questionable at best. Look forward to your feedback videos as you gain more experience with the new update. Thanks again for making these videos !
So I’m wondering if it’s just cheaper to purchase a Navionics card and save my SD card for my active captain. I just got this unit and I’m wondering do I do the updates and the maps through active captain or go to the garmin site like you did and do my updates? Thanks for your time and your videos.
Frustrating that they don’t have enough memory. One of the reasons why I bought the unit over hummingbird was because it had maps built in which allowed for the make your own map with just the SD card. Now not sure if it’s worth the upgrade
yes it is frustrating for sure i did the same. major reason I went with them was this new map. im told that we will still be able to make our own map with the card in but i was using many cards for diff lakes so now i gotta load that map every time and have it on all card what a pain.
Did that update come with Auto Guidance because they told me it does but there is a 225.00 charge to upgrade the new G3 that is factory installed already. Man what a money maker. I have the new echomap 74cv touch screen. unit cost 700.00 now it cost 925.00 US really ticked off because the unit in the west marine showroom had that option as you played around with it. Buyer beware... Just because it has the G3 does not mean it has all the goodies..
this is correct it also depends on the unit and I've noticed where you buy it also matters. some dealers are not selling up to date units or ones out of the US.
Just purchased the Garmin ECHOMAP PLUS 90 series. Purchased the Garmin Florida/Bahamas map to download. Spent hours trying to load the map on to the Garmin unit, so far no luck and a lot of time and money wasted. Garmin needs to take a serious look at trying to make their product user friendly. The Garmin web site instructions are not matched to the commands on the Garmin ECHOMAP dashboard. The Garmin "Quick Start Manual" is full of errors and inconsistencies. The fact that the RU-vid consumer driven tutorial encountered difficulties which required work arounds speaks volumes about the bad IT design of this product. The ECHOMAP does a good job as a depth finder, but the quality of the pre-loaded map is problematic. A strong word of caution to the consumer about paying Garmin for a map upgrade or download: prepare to throw money into a dark hole in the ocean.
IT just dose not get any better just uploaded the new g3 maps GUESS WHAT not enough memory. check it out on google and read GARMINS solution ..it did not work on my 7610 plus with 2 sd cards in i guess you will not be making any charts. But the 7610 is ez to operate whats left of it.
