If you network two echomap ultra together if you turn the one on the console on it will turn the one on your bow on same if you turn the bow off it will turn the console unit off. I called Garmin about this and that’s the way they are programmed and it can’t be changed to operate independently

When fishing with my 93 and 106 networked with a Garmin cable . Do I need the active captain cards in each unit ? Or will they talk to each other without a active captain card in them
@DoubleTFishing
@DoubleTFishing 5 месяцев назад
Hi Jerry, 1 card only. The network doesn’t like it when you have cards in both units. Have a great day!!
@bigtrout
@bigtrout 4 месяца назад
So I replaced my console 93sv with a 106 sv ultra and moved the 93sv up front. I had just updated my 93sv and following instructions here, I updated the new 106 through the 93. I'm hooked together with the Garmin ethernet marine cable. What didn't happen was the waypoints in the 93sv didn't transfer to the 106sv and creating a new waypoint in either one did not transfer to the other. I'm thinking I have some setting off that needs to be on. But then I see at 7:28 the mention of the card being inserted possibly being the "block" for data transfer. I don't remember if the card was still in the 93 or not but I'll be sure and boot everything back up without the card inserted. Don't know of anything else to check other than perhaps look for the data transfer in a sub menu of the navigation menu.
@DoubleTFishing
@DoubleTFishing 4 месяца назад
You’re on the right track, the network functions with only 1 active captain card. If there are multiple cards in the network user data such as waypoints, routes and tracks will not transfer properly
@bigtrout
@bigtrout 4 месяца назад
@@DoubleTFishing Is the card actually necessary for it to transfer waypoints between units, or in normal usage will it do it without a card? I ask because I've used the 93sv without a card for a year now and only put a card in to update the software. That's also the only time I've used the Active Captain app. By the way. THANK YOU for all the info you've put out there on these Garmin units. Your info is a godsend for those of us fairly newly introduced to these larger Garmin units and have saved HOURS of learning time.
@bigtrout
@bigtrout 4 месяца назад
@@DoubleTFishing Never mind I found the answer. No a card isn't necessary. I went to Navigation/manage data/user data sharing & turned that ON on both units. It was off but now waypoints & everything is shared.

@DoubleTFishing
@DoubleTFishing Год назад
You need to have more than one transducer in the network to get the button. If you have two transducers connected check the marine network setting and see if both are showing up, if not take a look at this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-f5PmQ_kGY4A.html Thanks, let me know if it works!! You can email me doubletfishing@outlook.com if you need help

I think the first problem we had is that the live scope and the 93sv were registered under my son's name, so when I went to marine devices on the app it wouldn't let me update those. So he removed them from his account and now they are all on mine and I have an update to transfer. Hopefully everything will work now. We have a rear gt56 and a front gt56 (trolling motor) and the live scope so we have 3 transducers. I will let u know how it works!! Thanks again!

See if this video helps, (see below) basically just take your Garmin power cord(s) connect it to a battery and connect an Ethernet cord between them. I happened to be swapping units around so I had the power cords and cradles off the boat. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3xAGBmT9ksM.html

@@DoubleTFishing So your boat wire connections are detachable & not hard wired. Oh, maybe you bought a seperate power cord
@DoubleTFishing
@DoubleTFishing 2 года назад
Actually I cut the cord connections off and brought it into my shop to make the video, I could have left it and just changed the fuse size for the new 106sv but thought since I had to change the cradle out anyway and could make a side by side video it would be worth it. Most of my earlier videos are shot with the chart plotter on the boat, getting the light for the camera is really hard but now I have an extra 93sv to use just for the channel in my studio rather than on the shop floor.

Depth shading if your lake is -18ft from pool can you set it at say 40ft and it will show me we’re 40ft is ?
@DoubleTFishing
@DoubleTFishing Год назад
The pre loaded maps do not have an “offset” function so those maps do not indicate the “true” depth, if you wanted to set a color for true 20’ to 30’ set the depth from 38’ to 48’. If you build QuickDraw contour maps they have an “offset” function. Some of the upgrade maps Garmin offers have offset as well but that’s a can of worms figuring out the current maps situation since Garmin purchased Navionics. Personally I’m waiting for Garmin to make the whole maps situation more user friendly before upgrading, did you find the brush pile yesterday? Have a great day!!

I have the same units. My transducer is mount on my trolling motor. Do I need to move the transducer in the back to have echomaps and livescope working on my 106sv up front and network the 106 to the 93 in the back? I really want the 106sv up front with echomap. What would I use the 93sv for on the back console?
@DoubleTFishing
@DoubleTFishing Год назад
I would move the transducer to the transom. The clear and side vu work best if the transducer is level and straight. The twisting and turning of the trolling motor blur the image badly. You can network the two units using a Garmin Marine ethernet cable and plug the transducer into either unit and see any screen on either unit from the GT54 transducer and the livescope transducer The console chartplotter will be especially handy for using maps while travelling. I use my console unit all the time to find structure while idling with my clear and side vu screens up. The other nice network feature is when you mark a waypoint with one it shows up on the other immediately Heres a video on network sharing ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-240hdB8T7zw.html

I have a networking question. I have a Two Echomap boxes. a 93 SV UHD in front with Livescope and a older 73 SV in the back. I have read that I just need to connect the two boxes with a NMEA cable. The cables I see for sale have a male and female end but I seem to need female on both ends as the mount fittings are both male. So what kind of cable do I need to make it work? Thanks, Terry.
@DoubleTFishing
@DoubleTFishing Год назад
For the basic network of the echomap boxes I use the Ethernet ports but depending on the livescope transducer you have it needs the black box GLS10. I don’t have Livescope so I’m not sure of the networking requirements for it. The NMEA network is a whole different animal than the basic Ethernet I use, sorry not much help with that
@terrywolford7880
@terrywolford7880 Год назад
@@DoubleTFishing Appreciate your quick response. I do have the LS 10 black box which is required to operate the Livescope. I have been using both for several months I just don’t know how to best network them. I thought I had read in the past it would require a networking box to network them but I recently read different. I will contact Garmin and see what they say.

I don’t think so, but they probably sell a transducer cable splitter and extension cable so you can plug the transducer into two cradles. The support guys can fix you up I bet!! Great video! Quick question. I tried linking my 2 93svu with the eithernet cable from garmin. I plugged it into the livescope port on both units but it's picking them up. Both units are on my consol. 1 is plugged into the transducer and the other has no transducer and I'm using it just for maps. I want to be able to mark fish on 2d and have the mark show up on my map. The 1 I'm using for the Sonar has a active captain card in it. Am i missing something? Is there a setting i need to do?
@DoubleTFishing
@DoubleTFishing Год назад
So if I’m understanding correctly you have both units on the console with an Ethernet cord between them, one unit has a GT54 or 56 plugged into the cradle. With only one transducer shared between the two units you won’t get the “preferred sources” option because there is only one source. I didn’t cover that in the video, sorry. You can look at the “marine network” in the Home Screen menu and it should have both units listed. Make sure you only use one active captain card, pull the other one out if you have both installed. A couple of people have had to plug and unplug the Ethernet cord a couple times to “wipe” the cooper surface contact until they can see both on the network. Here’s a video I go into a little more detail. The network should do what you want as described above. Good luck, holler back if that doesn’t work ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-f5PmQ_kGY4A.html

IF I want to network my Garmin 93sv UHD and a Ultra 106SV with my Livescope LVS34 and GT56 Transducer do I need the GMS10 Network Port Expander? Do you have a video that covers that?
@DoubleTFishing
@DoubleTFishing Год назад
No videos but yes the port on the chartplotter only supports the original panoptix LVS12, you can network the GT56 with just the Garmin marine Ethernet cord, no GLS10 required, have a great day!!
@DoubleTFishing
@DoubleTFishing Год назад
To be clear, you do need the GLS10 when using an LVS34 Livescope transducer
