I would be honored with your subscription. The Etrex series is a very popular option from Garmin that is more affordable than some of their high end products such as the inReach series. This video goes into detail on the prices and functionalities of the Etrex 10x, 22x, 32x, and SE.
I have gone with the 22x since that met my needs, which may not be the best option for you - I hope this video helps you make an informed decision. Whichever way you go, these are all great handheld GPS options!

The SE does not come with or can be loaded with topographic maps ..only simple gpx tracks transfered from Garming Explorer app.

you are right... unless you replace the bmapgmap disc image file on the device with a map of the region you plan on being in with the same name, given the map file is under 2mb. You create the map with bbbikes extracts website, it was quite a challenge to figure out how to do... It is possible. but not reasonable for the average person.

Hey, what is "glonnis"(?), as in 0:49 "they all come with at least GPS and glonnis"?

These are best used as backups. Get map and compass and learn how to use it

I am writing this in November 2023. The 32X does not have a touch screen as you suggest at least as far as I can tell and Garman's current specs say it has up to a 25 hour battery life not 16 as you say.

Can the eTrex 22x automatically drop waypoints (breadcrumbs). I am looking for a GPS I can set and forget that if I get lost it will take me back on the same trail I walked out on. Not just a compass heading back to where I started.

i have the etrex 10 ,22x and 30x. the 10 was $60 off ebay. the 22x was $100 off craigslist i bought the 30x brand new $300. i was gonna show someone how to use the the 10 but they backed out of the deal. have 3 gps recievers. ,wilderness navigation (book) says have a backup.
