Duppy King 645 isn’t as good as the 245

It's a lovely idea - but realistically I think that's a very big job that would need a full team behind especially if you want to keep it updated. You could maybe do it if you only compared the latest offerings from each manufacturer and exclude any that have subsequently been replaced BUT then you will probably miss out on good price deals etc. etc. and even then you would still need to know which region etc you are in. Again - I'd love to see someone do it - but I think you would need to lock all the manufacturers in a room till they agree various criteria and specifications - not only of what features mean/do but also agree a classification system on the quality of each so as to be more objective without bias. AND THAT'S without even getting a consensus agreed on what terms like "Smartwatch" even mean - both to the industry as a whole and the manufacturers and general public.

Not really. It's probably more useful for, as DC said, biking accidents or the like, in which case you should keep your phone anyways for all kinds of safety reasons. If you're just going to the track or the gym, where there are usually people, you don't need to worry about taking your phone or worry for your safety.

Go for the newer Garmin forerunner 255,it has barometric altimeter,gyroscope,elevate heart rate 4.0,HRV and much more..

Unless you are running in the wilderness off trails, the elevation is corrected to the maps based on your GPS track. It's fine.

The biggest is that 645 adds Barometric altimeter, thermometer, and Garmin Pay. Otherwise the 245 benefits from being launched a year and a bit after the 645 with a slightly better battery life, some new features that came out on devices since then, and a new gen version of the HR with PulseOx and new (Sony) GPS Chipset - which is half of the equation for the battery life improvement... You can still get some barometric data when running from using the GPS but the more minor variances may not be accounted for and more significantly you obviously wont be able to get data for things like stairs climbed etc. Regardless for an overall all round running watch at a reasonable budget I prefer the 245 over the 645. I would like my altimeter for getting info on stairs etc but it's not the end of the world to me...

It seems to be the same as with the Vivoactive 3, so nothing better there. It is ok, but my old Fitbits (Charge2, Versa, Ionic) where much better in tracking sleep than Garmin.

@@thomasclausbz How does anyone know this? You're asleep. When my sleep tracker tells me the night I had, I either have to believe it or not. I have no other information.

@@scrumpymanjack Last week i had a bad night (coffee on afternoon ;) ). I just was in bed, turning around... on morning i slept longer. My Garmin told me that my sleep was 10 hours, only 1 minute awake. ... The Garmin works great if you have a good sleep, start and end times works in most cases. But it is very bad if you have some bad nights. Fitbit and almost all trackers works better... My hope is, that garmin pays for the new firstbeat sleep algorithm and we have a good solution. As all metrics came from firstbeat we have a good chance to get a good sleep tracking... Note: I had very much trackers from fitbit, samsung, motorola smartwatches and so on... with fitbit i found out that my bad sleep really comes from my coffee at afternoon and i sleep much better and on nights i forget not to drink coffee before i hate my garmin for bad tracking ;)

@@scrumpymanjack Some notes about tracking: The tracker have pulse, motion sensors and now pulseOS and respiration tracking. That´s are more than enought metrics to calculate sleep. As for rem phase the pulse is rising, then in deep sleep it is falling... so you can calculate this stages. If you add some things like "did i steps" and the predefined sleep times, you can also get a good overall time. If you are awake, you are more moving, your pulse should be higher maybe your respiration is different... it should be not a big deal to calculate at list a bit better tracking... but also the REM and Awake phasen does not work well at garmin, so the body battery does not makes sense because sometimes garmin thinks you have a good sleep. It works good if your sleep is right... but not if you have problems (like me!). Same as pulseOX senseless for most users but a good thing for people with sleep apnoe... ok, apnoe is a special thing but sleeping is a thing for more people, i think ;)

I also have 4 data field in my forerunner 230... That been said I can only have 2 data screens per profile and no more than that. I was wondering if at the new 245 you can have more than 2 data screens.

Yup, no problem playing music/podcasts (even the FIT File Podcast) whenever you want. Just press the up or down button a few times and the music widget will come around.

I would either go with polar or garmin they do this stuff well but i prefer garmin just cause i have never had issues. Id do the the 245 personally. I am a runner and tech junkie myself :)
