I upgraded from my 66i, and love it. I lost no features and there are many improvements when using. Biggest pluses for me are the increased battery life, reduced charging time and better gps reception. I have upgraded my plan to allow for 10 min satellite tracking and am loving this feature. My only concern was that I had a Garmin topo map on my 66i, that I thought would not transfer over but it did. Not sure if that will be the case for everyone though but worrying about loosing this map delayed my purchase. Am very happy with the upgrade. I also loved the 66i, but love this one more. My main uses are on my motorbike (have my key attached to it) so it is always on my handlebars, and the occasional hunting/tramping trip. I ride my motorbike every day in all weather, so device is exposed to elements and both have not failed yet.

I recently upgraded to the 67i from an older eTrex20. I was very happy nearly my entire map environment transitioned with one exception, the file size for georegistered photos was reduced so I need to rework some of my charts. The battery life is exceptional, even with detailed tracking enabled. Messaging and sync has been very fast. I also like that it routes along trails very well. It’s also cool that it runs many of the watch widgets, like battery life.

I have the 67 now for a few months and what I notice is that if I don't use it for say two weeks and power it on it can't find the satellites for a very long time. Powering it off and on again solves that issue.
@christopher1800
@christopher1800 11 месяцев назад
Correct. Same issue with mine. On the upside: after not using it for two weeks, the battery hardly drains at all, which is quite amazing. Battery life is excellent anyway.

CPE file expired, you need to update it via connecting it to Explore app or plugging it into Garmin Express
@fzwart1965
@fzwart1965 11 месяцев назад
Maybe but that doesn't explain why when I power it off and then on again it quickly finds the satellites without having it connected to Explore or Express. It's not a big issue for me, I recognize when it happens and just do that.

I don't know anything about GPS units like this. Does it require a subscription service? Do I need to sign up and pay a monthly fee? Do I buy it and it's ready to go out of the box? I do a lot of exploring and have relied on phones, but often don't have service.
@ukgpstraining
@ukgpstraining 20 часов назад
Many thanks for your questions. To answer your questions - 1. Subscription - No subscription needed 2. No monthly fee required for the Garmin GPSMAP67 3. Ready to use - You need to ensure you also buy an OS map card with the unit if in the UK. Here at GPS Training we set up the units before they leave so all ready to go when you take out of the box. Recently bought the 67 off you with the offer on 1:25K maps 🙂. Excellent unit and I'm v glad I did, in spite of the cost. Though now have an unused 65s 😞 I use it for cycling and walking, though more the former. For cycling, I like to have the screen on all the time, so wish there was a button I could press to just make the light turn on. With the 65s the enter button didn't do anything in normal running, so could be used for this. Oh well, nothing's perfect. I could never get the hang of the Garmin Explore app (at least with the 65S), so v happy to be able to just use the Connect app. Works a treat.

Had my GPSMAP 67 since July I got off you guys, love it, best gps device I've owned having owned the 60CSx, 64s, 65s it's been up Ben Nevis and Scafell worked a treat. I also have a genuine OS V2 1.25 card in which I find sometimes is good to use like up Ben Nevis and Scafell but if you're walking around anywhere built up OS is unclear on the streets and roads I find. If you're on a budget with maps Talky Toaster maps should be mentioned as they're great maps and anything that is missing or isn't exact you can update via OSM to be on the next weeks update. I walk between both maps as like I say above both have pros and cons. Like OS maps are also exceptional at the coast with every rocky outcrap and cliff visible where as Talky maps are literally blue sea or yellow sand.

That's what I found too with the OS maps - they aren't clear when you zoom in (this isn't the case with some other non-Garmin GPS units).
@ricmeister2011
@ricmeister2011 11 месяцев назад
@@rossmacrae8406 Yes if you zoom in much past 500feet the quality goes south much past 200feet and they're very blurry, all though the quality of the screen on the 66/67 series does help it be more viewable than on the older models like the 65s. But OS is just a digital image (raster) so goes pixelated the more you zoom in, Talky Toaster is vector so loses no quality at all. OS 1.25 is worth it if you get them at an heavily discounted price but I wouldn't pay no where near full for them just a money spinner for the sellers!

Hello, thanks a lot for your videos, always nice and useful !. I own the GPSMAP 67 from eight months and I'm very satisfied (my previous device was a 64s, also a great one but the multiband and battery life of the 67 makes a lot of difference, also the usb-c connection type helps me a lot in terms of recharge and link with the pc), my only concern with the 67 is the altimeter which is often less reliable and precise compared to the Fenix 7x one (my other gps device, also very happy of, before I had the Fenix 6x pro): I wonder if someone else has experienced the same issue, also which settings are used. With regard to the software interface I would like as a future improvement from Garmin the possibility to have in the Main Pages view more than one map page, with different settings: I mean as I often need to check my route and position both on the TopoActive map and a customized one (a historical 1:25k map) actually to do this I have all the times to recall the map menu-->map settings-->map manger-->customized maps and then "switch it off", return to the map view, and then again all the steps to restore the view of the layer with the custom map. I've read the manual and searched on the web but I was not able to find a way to currently obtain that setting, in case this option is already available. Thanks again & sorry for my poor english !.
@LudovicoMosca
@LudovicoMosca 10 месяцев назад
Hello, with regard to the GPSMAP67 altimeter reliability issue I've resolved it by setting the auto calibration mode to "Off", now the readings/values are very precise and very close to the Fenix 7x ones (which altimeter auto calibration mode is set to "On" and it works great, I guess the two devices uses different altimeter sensors). Regards.

I previously had TwoNav units and they were great for screen size, brightness and battery life but both failed with water ingress (I'm out in the Scottish Highlands every weekend). Got the 67 and it's a nice small unit though the screen isn't clear compared with TwoNav and it isn't touchscreen either. I can't get any of the software to work though - I have to load OS gpx onto the 67 the old fashioned way with a cable to my PC. Tried the 80 page manual and the masses of online guidance to no avail (I even tried my Technology student son and he just looked at all the information and said 'no thanks'!). I totally agree that the supporting technology confuses customers like me who want a simple solution for route planning - I want to spend my time on the mountains not messing about on my desktop or mobile. It also keeps adding on ascent from previous hikes as I don't find the stop/reset functionality very clear. It gets me where I want to go but it isn't as good to use as the TwoNav though I suspect it will prove more durable.

If you work out your route on basecamp or any other platform that is based on os mapping then surely when that track/route is transferred to the Garmin it will overlay the route onto the mapping using public rights if ways so it does not matter that the Topo maps do not differentiate between these and other paths. I guess it's in an emergency that it might be a handicap but then of course you should have an OS map with you.

I see that the 67i and 67 have the same price at some retailers in my country (MSRP on the 67i is higher). If equally priced - is there a disadvantage of the 67i compared to the 67 (apart from a few grams more weight)? I assume you can use it without the inreach subscription?

No disadvantage to the 67i, but if you are never wanting to use the two-way satellite communication you may get a little fed up of a message telling you that the inReach facility has not been activated. This comes on every timer it starts up.

@@ukgpstrainingthanks, I didn’t know a message pops up every time. Good to know. Got inreach on my mini2, so 67i would just give me the option to transfer it to this unit at some point. Hi, just spent 3 days on PW with Gpsmap 67 great for following the track but the navigation arrow often pointed away (up to 180 degrees) from the route for long periods.
@ukgpstraining
@ukgpstraining 5 месяцев назад
I suspect you where navigating a track or course if walking the Pennine way, rather than a route (as these are limited to 250 waypoints). Things to check - 1. Make sure you have calibrated your compass 2. If you are calibrating the compass, next step - factory reset - gpstraining.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/6000135806-how-do-i-perform-a-master-or-factory-reset-on-my-garmin-gpsmap-62-64-66-or-86-series-device- 3. If that does not work it will be a faulty unit, if you bought it from us get in touch and we will swap the unit fora. new one. If you have bought elsewhere go back to the retailer and fingers crossed they will swap it for you. 2 yr warranty with any Garmin product. I hope this helps.
