How to properly position your transducer for the the Forward position on the port and Starboard side Calibrating Your Garmin Livescope and Why It’s Important • Calibrating Your Garmi...
Today was my first day on the water with the live scope, I’m brand new to marine electronics. I spent like 4 hrs trying to figured out why I could only see my bait directly beneath the boat and not anywhere else. Turns out I had installed it backwards on my pole. Thanks for the videos. I’m making progress learning.
Here is an updated video Garmin Livescope LVS34 & LVS32 Complete Guide To Transducer Orientation ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YeZd2_-0xVs.html
It would nice if Garmin would offer you a PT position working from home !!! You ARE the GURU and have earned that title respectively IMO! Thanks for your time and tight lines!
After watching this video, I feel like I finally understand how the LVS 32 transducer works. Thanks a bunch for this clear, understandable explanation!! (PS, I have been using my transducer in the down mode thinking I was in the forward mode, gonna fix that today!)
Thank you for this. I just installera my perspectove mode mount and didnt understand why the transduser were pointing backwords. Previously i apperently have used the port side installation on my star board side when i only did the foreward mode.
Great explanation and video! Would love to see the same for Perspective Mode. I recently invested into two Garmin Live Scopes. Installed two on the front. One on trolling motor (for forward view) and another on The LiveScanner motorized pole that I want to use in Perspective mode. Played with it this weekend for a while, didn't feel I got the perspective mode dialed in or set up right. Im using the Fish Obsessed Dominator-Ultimate mount similar to your Summit. Both set up as Starboard side. Any help appreciated. Keep the videos coming, they are helping so many of us.
Can’t say how much I thank you for this. Just got mine a week ago your video showed me I was not just using mine wrong but had the whole thing pointing backwards lol… thanks a million
In playing with my scope on the starboard side I've found that if I'm fishing shallow 3 foot or less if I click one more time I still have full screen and am able to still the fish. Just like if I'm 3 foot or deeper. Thanks for doing awesome easy to follow videos. If you're ever in east Texas hit me up and we'll go pull on some.
I’m new to live scope and have mine on the right hand side and have been wondering why I have the black space on the garmin unit. Makes sense now. Appreciate this video
Thanks for watching and don’t forget to subscribe. I have tons of videos. I also have a Facebook page by the same name that people will help you on. Very unlike any other page
@@The_Garmin_Guru I’ll definitely give you a follow. Been watching your videos for a week or so now. This particular video helped me a lot so hopefully it’ll all come together now.
This was a excellent video on the Garmin LV32 . I have a question . If I transfer my Garmin unit & LV32 to another boat would I have to recalibrate the compass ??
Your spare tyre on the trailer is bald. You would be in trouble if you were found to be using it in Ireland. Your videos are the best yet. Keep up the good work.
Yesterday I was going nuts trying to figure out why I could not see my lure. There was a school of bass teeing off on a school of bait what i thought was forward. Took me a little bit to figure out the schoolies were behind me. All need to do is turn it like shown in the video.
Do you have orientation pictures with the 34 transducer? And with the Fishing Obsessed 0 degree adapter? I’m having a real hard time getting it installed right and displaying both Forward & Perspective views ? Help ??
Dude you are the "SHIT"!!!! I was sooo frustrated with mine I put it away, and said f it! I've had my boat and livescope for a year and I fished tourneys and never even used it. I can't wait for this cold weather to be gone!!!!! Good thing I don't have your address I'd be sending you a case of beer!!!! Ty sooo much!!!
I’m can understand the setup instructions perfect… excellent video.!!! Where another video would helpful is showing the “ Physics” of WHY one needs the transducer to be “oriented in a different plane” when it’s located on the right or left side of the boat (starboard vs port) ??? (IF there are ,say three transducer crystals in the transducer, why would they have to be on a different plane, depending on being mounted on “RIGH” or LEFT” of the boat”?) I just cannot “visualize “ what is being accomplished by a mounting then in a different plane in reverse!)
Ecactly! Some of us need to understand the logic and physics. My mind is comparing it to a handgun. If I change a handgun from my right hand to my left. I do not turn the gun around and point back at myself.
Great video. Any chance of a similar video for Livescope Plus? The transducers look quite different (at least to a new user) but the confusion is exactly the same!
Great explanation! Since seeing the calibration videos I’ve been thinking about calibration and I have a question about perspective view. Does the compass require recalibrating after using perspective mode ?
If you would like the compass rose it does. Remember the system can only store one calibration and that is the position it was in when you calibrate the Livescope.
If you are correct then the Garmin installation for trolling motor is wrong. What makes their display more confusing is they show the motor going in a different direction from Port settings to starboard settings without making it obvious to the reader. Their starboard side is really the port side description. Your video made me go back and look at manual I printed. No wonder I have been having so many problems. I have mine mounted like you on a poll. I also have a Force trolling motor but don’t want my Perspective twisting Mack and forth on it trying to keep me anchored. Thanks for showing us the screen change when you twist the transducer up and down
Came here looking to figure out how you set it up for Ice Fishing. Instructions that came with were not clear on how to set up. I'm guessing now you set it flat/parallel to the ground/water...
Im adding on the 93sv on a pontoon. I made a nice pole & have it mounted starboard right beside the helm so I can see & steer at the same time. Should I mount it starboard like you did here? My setup is different & didn't know if that changes anything. Great informative video, & no music! Great job
Awww now I have music on my videos some of the time. You can mount it port or starboard on the pole. It doesn’t really matter. It only matters on which side of the pole you mount it.
I have my transducer mounted on the starboard side of the pole. Should I tilt the transducer so that the bottom is flat and then calibrate? What if I leave the top flat and calibrate. Will the computer know that will be forward? Not sure if I’m making sense in the second part of this comment? So starboard side = bottom of transducer should be flat and port side = top of transducer should be flat?
I'm sorry, I'm confused by your port side demo. Your port side demo has the trolling motor and livescope pole still on the starboard side of the boat. Were we supposed to "imagine" that you had it on the port side? Or, is it somehow the port side of the pole? Still very confusing.
Sorry this video was confusing. To most it wasn’t. Try this video instead. Garmin Livescope LVS34 & LVS32 Complete Guide To Transducer Orientation ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YeZd2_-0xVs.html
@@The_Garmin_Guru Yes, that video was much better in that very early on in the video, it was described as the port side of the SHAFT. This video just says starboard side and port side, but doesn't say what the reference point is. Typically, when you use those terms (port, starboard), you are talking about sides of a boat. In this video, we are actually talking about the sides of the SHAFT, not the boat. Thanks for the clarification.
I bought a boat that had everything livescope pre installed.. after watching a cpl videos of yours I noticed mine is on the starboard side of my boat but the transducer is set up for port side on the pole mount.. I swapped it around and now it looks backwards.. Do I recalibrate the compass after repositioning the transducer
So if I'm using a pole does this matter or how should it be facing. The same as you were doing it on the video. Mine is on the driver's side of my boat. I'm using the specialty pool in mine is mounted flat on the bottom of the pole.
Kinda off todays subject but would like to know your opinion on screen savers like a comparison of the $50 one from Russell Marine, say the clear view from Amason where you get 2 for 20 bucks and Precision Sonar has one for $60 etc. I'm sure the Amason one might not protect your scree from a speeding bullet (weight) but is it good enough for the weekend fisherman to keep his screen clean and help visibility. Thanks
Ì upgraded from the ultrax to the Garmin force trolling motor and already like the switch. I'm running 2 echo map UHD 95sv....I have navionics on my phone....all this high tech equipment lol...and livescope but I run mine on a separate polo mount. I haven't updated yet but everything works fine... should I update based on the latest versions?
Hey Guru, I have a question 🙋🏼♂️ Can you use your Livescope with the transducer cover on or is that just for traveling and you have to take it off every time before fishing? It looks like it would help protect it really well as I fish a lot of shallow water
I have mine on separate pole than on trolling motor with a Summit fishing equipment pole end mount that comes straight down off the end of the pole. Do I use port or starboard? The cable comes down the port side with the transducer pointed forward.
I would imagine if it comes out the bottom whichever position you have it in when you calibrate the transducer the system will recognize that. That why calibration is so important
I see now. It's really which side of the pole. I thought it actually had to be on either side of the boat. It's is which directions the transducer is facing.
Holy crap man here I’ve been thinking the same thing listening to others talk about port/starboard side. I’ll be mounting mine on a separate pole. Which will be on the Starboard side of boat. But now I see also the correct positioning of the transducer itself in relation to port/Starboard side of pole. Thanks!
So if I want to run this in a trolling application! How would I set it up? Cause I would need it looking behind my boat at my down rigger? Any info would be awesome.
My transducer is mounted the same way but on my trolling motor shaft . But it seems as if it’s backwards . So with the trolling motor going forward the transducer is picking up under my boat . Should I move the transducer to the other side ? Any info would be appreciated
Hey Guru, are you aware that garmin does not have live scope ghost button update for the 7600 series units. I have 2 7610’s with awful ghost tree on screen, I have tried everything to help nothing works. Called Garmin they just say theres no support for a product they still sell today, What you think ? Thanks ! JR

I dont think that's correct on port side . It depends where it's mounted with prop(tm) inside of boat or outside of boat. Port the correct position is the bottom of ducer parallel to water for forward. And d view is is a click up. . Look on the webinar . Just saying if you have it mounted to tm
You’re wrong bud. Sorry. In port view the top Is parallel to the waters surface. In starboard positioning the bottom is parallel to The waters surface. Inbox me on Facebook and I’ll show the diagram if you’d like.
