A normal person during COVID shutdown: "I cleaned my house, I feel accomplished. Break time." Mike Patey: "I built the craziest cub ever. Back to work!" I've known some real workaholics in my life, Mike is, by far, at the top of the list. 🤠

His body language... I don't know how to explain it other than child like passion. Maintaining a level of Christmas eve energy... "holy shit this AMAZING! I've spent 1,000 hours in the project! And I've got twice that left and it's the COOLEST thing ever, I wish I had 100,000 hrs to go because this is literally the coolest thing any human has ever done!" The kicker is that he's not a child. He's a grown man with 4 kids, marriage, employees, search and rescue where others lives are literally in his hands....a good chunk of life lived. It's pretty damn inspiring!!

That brake fluid light is super cool but more cool than that is that you’re encouraging people to come play with your airplane and touch it and get close! So many people with that airplane would put a fence around it and a “don’t touch” sign. Thank you for being so open to everyone being interested and allowing them to get close! I cannot resonate enough what Mike is doing with the backseat, we just finished our Lockwood Aircam build and we placed a G3X in the back that is linked to the G3X in the front. At first, I thought it was overkill but after flying the airplane around 90 hours I can tell you its the best thing we did. The Garmin is so user friendly that even non-pilots in the back seat can learn to use the system within an hour-long flight. The best part is when you have a pilot in the back, they can run all the systems while you focus on flying in the front. Most flights in the Aircam are below 500ft AGL so this is super nice. After owning a G3X I am sold on Garmin for life, I will not use any other system out there. They just do it better. Fun Fact- Initially the G3X was only single-engine capable, I hear that a "certain" Aircam got them to make it multi-capable;)

It was 11PM pitch black, i wont bore you with the details. You handled it so professionally. I felt the drama so real it had me sitting on the edge of my seat. I could feel the genuine concern the ATC guy had. Kiddos to him. I am so glad you made it. where else could a schmuck like me get the excitement that all your projects give us. I would put the foil on the engine side where the heat in form of IR radiation is coming. I would also put foil on the side of the battery facing the engine. BTW, I love lithium starting batterys, I have used my Beltenick for 5 years now without it ever missing a beat. Weights 1,92kg. Built stainless overkill bracket for it too.

Thank you so much for taking the time and explaining the guss lock system. I love the fact that you will likely be able to "pop" start this high comp. beast. And the fact that you can get to the microswitch wires fairly easily makes me super comfortable and impressed with your setup. The cockpit looks gorgeous by the way. The fit and finish of all your work is better than today's super cars and it makes me want to engineer/build something of my own!

I just wanted to let you know how much I love your vidio’s. I used to fly and just watching your videos brings it all back to me. I’m 76 and haven’t flown in 20 yrs, this makes me want to go up again. About starting your big block 8, back in the 70’s - 80’s we used to put 6 volt coils in our 12 volt race car starters because we had 12 to 1 compression. This will make your engine start in any conditions but you can’t over crank it or you’ll burn the starter up. Just a thought! Thanks again, Frank the old guy 🤪

Mike Patey is a national treasure. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed watching anything as much (and learning as much!) as his Draco and Scrappy videos. I never thought I'd see another plane as cool as Draco again, but it looks like scrappy might even top it. I've always been interested in aviation, but never "did anything" about it, and I think that is going to have to change, and these projects are much of the inspiration. Thank you!

To dream it design it have the ability and the tooling to build it and the resources to make it happen space ship in a bush plane should make you think Dec 17 1903 now look at this ...This is human innovation at its best Thanks mike for including us!!

Mike, Chandra and Best Tugs, I've only recently discovered your channel this weekend but I really appreciate your dedication to GA and to the classic Denver Broncos colors from way back when the team had both a decent offense AND defense...and players stood for the Star Spangled Banner without thinking twice. Never did I imagine GA and old school Broncos would merge yet here it is and it is so good! Best wishes from Colorado to your entire family, the team in the workshop, and the company.
