I updated mine. Little tip for y’all. If you have IPhone, go into your settings……. Go to notifications….. select messages and turn off notifications…. Go back to phone notifications and turn them off also. That should take care of anyone calling or texting during the update

Thanks for this video. I was winging it based on garmin video and it was taking hours. The part they don't mention is to switch from the garmin wireless back to your home/local wifi. Once I did that, it downloaded in seconds.

Thanks for the video. I updated my Garmin 942 and I'm sure it would have been nerve-racking had I not known how long it would take as my screen went blank and when it was updating the brightness was so low I could barely see it in bright sun. Everything came back up and worked well.

Am I able to start with an empty memory card to update the software and then use that same memory card to download the blue chart maps to keep in the head unit at all times? If so could I then use that same card for updates in the future?

Great video, I just bought a Garmin GPSMAP 743xsv. I am going to have it professionally flush mounted. I noticed that there is an SD card in one of the 2 slots which is in the rear of the unit. I am not sure what's on the card. Should I leave it in or take it out. I did install a blank card into the second slot, what should I do?

I am going to attempt this tomorrow on my new 126SV. Do you leave the SD card in the unit when you are done ? Great video !! Thanks

When updating networked units does the other unit have to be turned on and what not for it to update both units at the same time?

Thanks I just updated my ECHOMAP Ultra 106sv to v14.10 and I think my Panoptix Livescope system is now on v2.53. Is there anyway to confirm that? I see 14.10 on the software settings screen. Just not sure where to go to confirm the Panoptix software version?

Love the video but mine just doesn’t seem to work on my 1243xsv. When transferring it keeps saying transfer paused. I have gone through the trouble shooting and all is correct. It then goes back to transferring. Back and forth. Also, how does the chart plotter know which card to format. The unit came with one in the right slot and I added one to the left slot. 32 gig. After 30 min. Garmin unit went back to startup screen. When I hit agree it then showed no active capt connection after previously showing all connected. I am lost at what to do. Plan to call you on Monday but I won’t be at the boat. Frustrated as hell!

Just an update to this! I just installed the software update on my new 94sv UHD, and it did not go as simple as his! 4 hours, 3 SD cards later I finally get it installed! Mine moved much slower than his, so as he said be patient. Each time mine got to 100% validation on the update, my unit would pause. I checked all the suggested items on screen, hence 3 SD cards, however I decided to try my iPad as opposed to the IPhone 8 Plus I was using. The update installed correctly that time! So just for anyone in the future if it pauses try a different device to download from. Hope this saves someone like me from going crazy in the future! JMO.

Hi, I bought Navionics Vision+ charts and downloaded it to the SD via G Exp. I inserted the card in the unit and turned it on but I’m not sure that’s reading the map. Anything I need to do? How do I check if it’s using the right map? It’s a 72sv with a pre loaded global map. Tks.

They say you can so it with your computer so do I get a really long Ethernet cable or take the unit into the house OR buy a new laptop? I have wanted one. Mmm

Sorry for the stupid question- do I have to use a new micro as card to create an active captain card each time I update ? If no is it ok to just click to reformat the current card ? If yes what do I do with the old active captain card?

What if the garmin was previously owned and had updates previously done. Has a card in it. Do I still need a new card. Tried to do a update but said something about a guest can't make changes?????

Do you have to leave the micro SD card in the unit after updating? And I know you said it’ll update all other units connected in the network…. Does that include the GLS 10 black box? Thanks!

Just purchased a Livescope 34 with a 1022 chart plotter. What do you recommend for garmins best detailed map program. Do I use active captain or is it like humminbird where you just insert the lakemaster unit. Is it possible to transfer my humminbird waypoints to my 1022? Thanks!

Can you advise on what to do if the transfer is interrupted? The Garmin has “Transfer Interrupted” warning but I can’t get it to start the sync again and finish. Pretty frustrating.

Hello, Do one echomap download for all Garmin series? If so, can you use the same SD card for updating the 93sv then remove it and put it in the 106sv and download the same??

I managed to update both of my units. However, on my console unit I accidentally hit the breaker switch in power down. During update. I turn it back on and managed to finish the update and it says vessel is up to date but I feel like my graph isn't reading right. Should I factory reset it and do the process over?

Do I need various cards cause I was cause use the same card to have the updates, routes and activecaptain. Or does it require separate cards for different assignments

Would love some advice. My ActiveCaptain app on my phone says there are updates for my unit but when I try to transfer, nothing happens. Garmin Echomap says the unit is up to date and no updates available. I believe this is causing my Panoptix to no not power up. Help please!! Have you ever seen this before?

Geez i guess i missed it. I thought it was going to be plug and play just like my last 2 Echomaps. Duel Console limits me to a 74sv2 UHD. Well I cabled for and installed unit and fired it up. Well beat me with a broom handle, as soon i started programming it tells me i have to install Active Captain. That mean i have to run out and get the micro SD and adapter. Then download the (3.4 rated) application and hope it takes properly. Can I put my phone on silent mode to prevent any interuptions or is ignoring it enough. I just think on a $1149 bundle it would take much the throw in the mini SD. Tell me... Did i miss it or did they neglect to mention it. I dont see it mentioned in the instructions either. I'm pretty darn loyal to Garmin but it feels like I've been lied to by omission?

I just purchased the garmin striker plus 7 cv and garmin strike plus 4 my 4 is at the console because it was to replace the small lowrance and 7 is at the bow if I update the 4 will it automatically update the 7 ant the bow??

I keep getting this message even though I have a memory card in there “no activecaptain memory card detected” I taking it and out it back in. Deleted the all and reinstalled again. I don’t know what to do. This is the same memory card I used when I originally updated the first time. I’ve only updated my equipment one time after I bought it. I have Garmin Echomap 93SV UHD and Livescope.

So that's updaters my Garmin with updates. If I have the vessel view mobile on motor and app, will my phone stay synced with Garmin 94sv and I can just use the engine icon on the Garmin to look at RPM's, GPM, hours on motor, etc?

Any idea why after doing all this that my simulator mode is now unavailable? All software is obviously up to date but when i put it in simulator mode it gives me a message saying " simulator content missing, update to the latest software" when i go into active captain it says no software update available???

I'd like to update the Garmin 8612's in my center console. I noticed the main unit already has a memory card in one of the 2 sd card slots on the back of it. I'm guessing this is perhaps my Navionics cartography chip. Do I ignore it & follow these steps, using the empty SD card slot next to it, or should I take a different approach? followed every step but wont transfer to my gps 1022. Shows that its transfering and then after about 15 seconds it will say " transfer paused" then will go back to saying transfering. all the while my transfer shows 0% transferred.

After the update, Do i remove the memory card and put my map card back in?

Hello, i just got the 93sv uhd and did the new update right away was 14.30 .. just and you show everything went fine. Is now 19.10 but notice sonar simulators are not available. Pop up message says “missing simulator content. Update foftware and dowload content from garmin support” thats for traditional, side vu and clear vu. All the panoptix simulators do work. Any idea?
