Good video thanks. Interesting to hear your thoughts. The use of mini usb is quite good to be honest. It’s more robust than usb c (proven not to break as easy since it was released). And there is no need for the massive data speeds as it’s not needed for a gps. Thanks for the video mate. Happy riding !
Hi. Are you trying to import a GPX file? If so, this link will tell you how. If not just tell me what file you need. support.garmin.com/en-GB/?faq=viCuQqsnlg2kOvcxESjqh7
Mini usb had been proven to be more robust than micro and C, rather than a step backwards it's actually a good retention. As for voice recognition and Spotify - it's a Satnav not an entertainment's system. 🙄
Thanks for the comment. Mini USB is rated at 480mb whereas USB-C is rated upto 10gb. And it's reversible. Personally I prefer it but everyone is different :)
Thanks Dean. I am literally like this all the time :) The only thing I've ever taken was a puff on a cigarette when I was 8. Coughed so much that I never wanted to repeat the experience ever again 😀
Great review sir. Thank you. You mentioned that you were going to talk about how you use spotify with it. Did I miss that in the review? If so can you explain?
Hi Jeff. So sorry for the late reply. Really the only good way is by using your phone assistant. However that means press the Garmin about 5 times to actually activate it. However, I have just bought a SCOM Intercom which you can just say, "Hey Google, play Nikleback", on it works great. In my opinion it's far easier to do that. If your really unlucky, I'll review the SCOM too :)
@@theoldgraywindpassertest Thanks for getting back to me. I decided to get the XT anyway. I found that if I start Spotify using my phone I can then control it using the XT. I know its not a dedicated app but the music player will control spotify. At least next track, previous track and pause. It also shows the album art work on the XT.
How easy is the route planning? My 395 is such a pain in the buttocks I gave up and used my phones Google Maps instead. Now I just use my Garmin 395 for a heads up on bends ahead; which is useful...
I think the route planning is much improved but still cumbersome. You can get it to redraw down your preferred road but there is no reverse route so you have to do it twice. Drawing it in MapSource is no better :/ I do use it though. The curvey routing has lead me to find some interesting roads.
Sorry for the later reply. There are 2 ways to use Spotify on the XT. 1. Start the app on your phone and play from there. You can forward and backwards tracks on the XT 2. Use voice dial to activate the Google Assistant/ Siri. Both ways are cumbersome. I'd rather like a Assistant button on the main screen. However I love the XT aside from this. Thanks, David
@@theoldgraywindpassertest Hello unless my XT is Faulty Loading MP3s onto the Memory Card is a waste of Time Because the Garmin Cannot Find them, You have to Save the MP3s to a Folder on the XT Called MP3. i Tried for around 2 Hours with 4 Different Memory Cards to get the XT to Read the MP3s from the Card just like every other Gamin GPS i have owned from the Quest ( i know the Quest did not have the Audio Player ) from the 400 / 550 / 600 / and the Worse i ever bought the 590 Which never worked from day One and was Replaced and was Still Rubbish , I ended up Getting Garmin to Replace the 590 with a 660 Which worked 100% . I hope this Helps Cheers Francis
@@fw750x Thanks Francis. I never had any issues with my 590. The XT screen is a big improvement but because of the arse of getting music to stream, I can't say I'm hugely happy. The applications/modes are all over the place and until you learn where everything is it's a pain. I still use it though and oddly it seems easier to use in my Motorhome than on my bike :o
