Sadolpara

The house design defers slightly from one place to another. In the video the house design is of Sadolpara village, but if you visit Sasatgre village the design will be slightly different. The material used to construct are wood, bamboo and thatch. No iron or nails are used. For pillars big logs of wood are used. Bamboo is used for the frame and also for partitioning the rooms. Rooms are basically it has three parts: front portion, middle portion and third portion which is the only room of privacy with attach balcony and loo for peeing purpose only. Middle portion of the house with fireplace in the middle is an essential part of Garo culture. Here all sorts of activities are hosted. It is used as Receiving there guest, living room, recreation room, entertainment room in the evening by narrating traditional narrations as they don't have television till 2010, even today hardly have television. It is also used for ceremonies specially during Wangala, a harvest festival. This are some of the details of Garo traditional architecture that hasn't change for the past 100 years or more. Thankyou

DimX 93 cent% I agree with u...but the most comfortable houses are the ones constructed with thatched, woods & bamboos, but unfortunately everythings gradually vanishing....it's sad to see the traditional houses fading away.
