Hi Jim. getting the glaze / Polished rubber off is a great Ideal. Some of the machinery I worked on had that problem and the replacement part's were Big big expensive. So I came up with a way to remove the glaze with a sanding tool I built. Saved the company many thousands. Not even a good doggie from the higher ups Lol such is life. You take care Jim. Bobby

Hi Jim, I know this is an old video of yours. I purchased a cabinet and the radio and tape deck works but the garrard 3000 seems to need some love. I can't get the arm to move when I put it to auto. I tried manually placing the arm on a record and it skips all the way to the end and never returns but the sound in between the skips sounds good. I have never disassembled a record player before but I'm wanting to give it a try. Thank you for your videos they are very informative! So my questions are what grease and oil are best to use and any tips regards to the arm not moving? Thank you so much!

Hi Jim, I was wondering how to power UP through a 220V AC the motor of this turntable. I saw here in your vid that you have a custom plug. Thanks!

Hello Jim, Thank you for your videos. I have a question. I have a garrard 3000 turntable in a sylvania console. The turn table seems to be running slow. What would you recommend for me to get it to run faster?

This is the player this is in my cabinet. I'd like to try and fix it up though I don't know much about it all so I'm hoping that your videos will help. The audio is a little hard to make out though. One thing I'm wondering right off though is that the mat on mine is very dried out and all cracked away around the edges. I've been trying to chip the old mat off so I can replace it since the outer edge u to the metal circle is almost all gone but it seems to be glued down (or just over time has strong fused itself down) Any ideas what I can try to get it off? I got the until free from someone who'd had it stored in a garage for years. The rest of (the radio, speakers, audio inputs) all work well, but the turntable has a few issues such as the mat and I just managed to track down a new needle for it. It's be come a bit of a pet project of mine to restore the whole thing. If I can get the turntable into better condition I want to sand and refinish the whole outside of the cabinet. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi, we have a Garrard model 3250 and it has a little red switch by the needle. What is it for? Does anyone know? Can’t seem to find anything online

Jim. Do you know what cartridge fits the Garrard 3000? I just bought a 1966 or 1967 Curtis mathes 3 in 1 console with a Garrard 3000 in it. But it looks as if cartridge is completely missing along with any needle. I cannot find any number that correlates to a cartridge or needle after endless amounts of researching. Thank you!

Is there a way I can fix it? Or is there a way i can take my automatic spindle off and put my manual one on?

McMasterovoxo I think you can rotate the spindle couterclockwise about a quarter turn and it should lift out and you can put in your short one. To get the auto functions going, you'll have to go through the three or four general maintenance steps like you can see me do on a number of record player videos.

YOU DO NOT ROTATE THE SPINDLE!!!! Just pull it firmly straight up.
