These tips will carry across to ALL GARRETT ACE machines, the signal numbers are a little lower on the max, but you will get the idea about signals, and other things :-) Thanks for watching hope it helps , please SHARE if you think it might help someone you know :-)
Thanks Dawn. Actually my machine is a little older, it doesn't have the numbers screen which would be really handy, just 12 segments along the top. I hope you do a short explanation on how to test "silver" with the "foil smell test" in one of your future videos. I can't find anything on the net about it. Thanks again.
The segments are the same as the numbers the principles the same. I've done the silver test in a number of videos out in the field, cant remember which though ?
Hi, Dawn your videos are great I'm new to detecting just got a Garrett AT Max and I've followed your instructions I'm using it in custom mode as you advise I'm getting a continuous tone all the time in my headphones or on the detector it's there all the time. by turning the volume down changing the frequency or sensitivity makes no difference
Not all people get it. Some will never get it. You just can't get into a race car and be a race care driver. You can't buy knowledge. How many people pay the big bucks and think they are going right out there and find the hoard. I'am 40 years into it. I'am learning, relearning every time I go detecting. I have watched you Dawn, You hung in there even when it got frustrating. You up graded, had to learn some more, you worked thru it. I see you're doing your best to pass it along. Thanks
I sold my AT Max a year or so ago , and gave up detecting as my life got too busy… Then I flicking through You-Tube , and flicked you on again ..and all that excitement Ive missed came rushing back …I’ve missed you Digger Dawn and love you videos … keep up sharing ye skills luv … take care …Dave
You found that sweet goldish looking coin while doing a help video as Karma for helping people. I genuinely appreciate you making this video, so helpful it is not even funny bcuz I am brand new to this and you just saved me LOADS of head aches! Love the accent too btw, I am from USA. Love ppls different dialects and again thank you for this video. Def will check more by you!
Main points of the video: 1. Use the frequency with the least interference. 2. Drop your sensitivity comfortably. 3. Ground balance your detector. 4. Drop the threshold. Thanks a bunch! Just got mine yesterday. Found a few coins but it was beeping my ears off with choppy signals!
You're a sweetheart Digger Dawn!!! Just received my AT Max from Amazon today and wanted to thank you from Washington, USA for taking the time to explain some of the features to us beginners. Now we might actually find something when we go out :-) Thanks again for the fantastic video!!!
Ty, ty ,ty.... garrett needs to compensate you or sponsor you. It's been 2 years since i purchased mine, 4 day trips, 5 or 6 videos, and lots of noise. I am someone who retains information from watching more than when i study from a book or reading, so watching is how i learn. It is 4 a.m., and i had no intention of giving it another go till now, so I am gearing up for an unexpected day of detecting. Thanks for breaking it down and making it less complicated for people that learn like i do and am anxious to learn more of these important tips to this profession and hobbie.
I got my AT Max a couple of months ago and have been digging a lot of trash. Cutting down the noise is just what I needed, can't wait to go back out and apply what I learned from your video. Thanks from Canada
Thank you so much for this! I'm borrowing an AT Max at the moment and she's quite the chatty one. These settings and tips definitely helped cut down on the chatter and the past few digs have been much better for me. Thanks! 😊
I just got done watching reviews on the Max and was kind of surprised to see people complaining about the chattering and the other issues that you just explained how to take care of. They went as far as getting rid of their Max and all they had to do was watch your video and they would have been happy with their Max and subscribing to you. Lol. You’re awesome Dawn !
Just wanted to let ya know Dawn I ordered a 5x8 DD PROformance coil for my Ace 250. Anxiously waiting to get it and use it. Will let ya know how it works out.
Thank you very much for this tremendous contribution, I know a lot but I love this hobby, a few months ago I bought this interesting detector, AT max but I still understand it very well, but I want to learn and know where to start looking and how to calibrate it in each ground, greetings and blessings
Just bought an AT Max, will take your advice on the settings as from all the videos, yours are in terms i can understand. Subscribed too, keep up the good work.
Thanks for the sub :-) I always try to explain things simply, no point trying to be over technical no ones knows what you mean, I remember that from when I started detecting :-)
That's a helpful demo Dawn, although I'm unable now to take part in the hobby I appreciate your videos because of your willingness to pass on tips for those coming into the hobby. I started way back when machines were quite basic, but still required time to get to know the different sounds. thanks for sharing.
Thanks Derrick, Ive always thought as long as you know a machine really really well you will get the most out of it, I dont know how people manage when they are swapping machines every couple of months,
Steve Moore should put this up on the Garrett website! It is a very well done and entertaining at the same time instructional video! Congratulations Dawn!
Hello good afternoon dawn just bought an at max yeah just watched your tutorial much easier than the one from Garrett went to some beaches yesterday tried max on one beach then my 1235x Fischer which I have used for 22yrs after watching your video great explanation so today I'm going out again with max so excited thanks again happy hunting 🤗😎
Thanks Dawn, had the Max now for about two months and was wondering how to cut out some of the chatter. Very educational indeed, the soil is very mineralised her in Aussie where we detect and my next goal is to find the best setting for my custom setting.
Hey lady, thanks. I’m going to grab my Nel Attack cool back out and try this out. I had tried adjusting the sensitivity. I believe my problem is definitely fixable now!
@@DiggerDawn Yeah it was going bananas one day. I tried everything from changing the coil, the batteries, the frequency, the sensitivity. I even reset it to factory settings a few times. I think is back to normal now haha
Great Video Ma’am. I would recommend not hitting the coil on the ground during Ground Balancing efforts. Just my opinion from the last 20 years of MD’n. However, excellent video! Probably the most informational video on YT! Ty, Mrs. Dawn
Thanks for the info Dawn, i just used my brand new AT MAX on a western Australia beach, single straight away it was two pieces of silver foil, ah well it gave me a chance to get used to the machine.
@@DiggerDawn It will definitely pick up fast. RU-vid is the second largest search engine after Google. Give it a few hours and anyone searching for AT MAX Settings will find it. I hope Garrett are sharing your vids. You are a fantastic brand ambassador for them and for the hobby in general :)
@@DiggerDawn Seems to be a lot of confusion about the AT Max especially on how it works on the wet sand. Many people have complained that they cannot get it to settle, which is a shame because in all other respects it seems to be a fine machine. I take it you don't get to the beach much Dawn?
yeah it is different hope the video helps the only thing i didnt include was the factory reset after a coil change or if its playing up, but you will know that already have the AT pro
Good vid Dawn! I own a Max and a Pro. This has helped a tremendous amount. Thank you so much. You rock Dawn! Love your channel so much as it keeps me in the hobby. Again thank you!
loved the video dawn.i have a makro racer and your explanition of high 90s being deep iron is true.everytime i dig over 90 its deep iron..great double silver.loved the vid and learned some tips from it.
Thank you for the instructional video, I learned a thing or two about chatter on the AT MAX. I saw you wearing a search coil pendent, where did you get that? I’ve been looking for that pendent with no success. Thank you.
A guy in the USA who is a silver smith made it. Hes called Rockcyclelapidary on instagram and on FB as well as Warren Kruger. Message him, he makes all types of coils :-)
Great vid for beginners. I agree you can turn the sensitivity down to quiet the machine when you first start out or if it's chatty but, you will miss deep or small targets. Luck had it that you were swinging over two silver coins 2 inches down. You could have turned the sensitivity all the way down and heard those...lol You can always turn the sensitivity up if you hear something like a faint target to get a better signal and turn it back down when you move on.
Nice one Dawn. Simple basics to get you on your way.... Have you tried the beach with it? Omg it's a headache at times, but a tweak here n there and it settles. I've noticed that the volume button is a very handy option, especially when there's so much chatter - the real tones come through clearer for me on the beach when I have volume right up - the chatter stays the same... I found that to be a help and good guide to spotting false signals. Like you say, we all have our methods. It's trial and error. Blimey though dawn. 2 silvers in one hole whilst doing a demo - what you stand in eh?! Lol. Anyway, looking forward to meeting you at detectival 👍 Whoop Whoop 👍 would like some pics of the whole gang at some point at the regton stand with Nigel and Marcus. Really looking forward to it. I witnessed the mini spring detectival hoard...... Can it happen again? .... Oh I hope so....... Time will tell eh 🤞
After 35 years of digging, you hit it pretty good"🤸♂️🤸♂️🤸♂️ Nice.......You should of seen them old machines 🙉 and no pin-pointers 🥕 We used the edge of the coil, still do sometimes ...Until next time
thanks thats a good compliment, i dont know everything, but i like to share what works for me. Yeah theres people today refuse to get a pinpointer, we are all spoiled with technology nowadays :-)
Very informative, thank you. I am looking to buy a new machine so this has been very helpful. Something I always do, as a responsible 'digger' is always carry a bag to put rubbish in as you find it :)
Great video dawn I fully agree with use the tones and the vdi as a secondary. But obviously when you start it is a huge help. I use the at pro just with the slightly smaller nel hunter coil from our friends at regtons super fast delivery and great service. Keep up the fantastic videos I’ll hopefully get too meet you one day at a event. Take care dean
Digger Dawn sadly not my boss is away that week as my luck would have it. But I’ll be booking in early for next year too save same happening for next year. So if not before I’ll catch up with yourself then with stroke of luck. Keep up the fantastic videos dawn I’m subscribed too RU-vid and on your fb page. Take care dawn
You didn't do the silver dance :)..... It's nice to see someone who hasn't fallen for the Minelab and XP hype. Also, despite the claims made by a lot of detectorists, you don't need an expensive pair of headphones.
I dont tell to follow the crowd i never have, I think the key is understanding your machine whatever it may be :-) no you dont need expensive headphones, but headphones make the sound on the max completely different
Good job Dawn. See, i learned something everytime i watched! Congrats on the silver coin spill! I'd dig the spoon signal too because buttons also ring up in that range too! HH!!
@UC5byIpTchSgPqSF1UH0X2xQ why not go for an ACE 400i, its got vdi numbers, iron audio etc and if you put a bigger coil on it you will have an awesome machine
No silver dance?? Great how to video.. although I have a Minelab after watching this. I feel confident I could use a Garrett at.. keep up the good work
I’ve been doing so well since watching this video, thank you. I’ve found a bunch of jewelry in the past month but only 1 gold and 1 silver ring, which is amazing. What does gold usually ring up on the at max? What numbers should I discriminate up to 33-35? Or can gold ever ring up in the low 30s? Thanks
