Garrett boosted the gain and sensitivity before they released the Axiom. The default setting is now 4 and it is recommended to start at that setting and go up or down from there depending on conditions. I've been running mine at 3 to 6 in Arizona, most of the time at 4 due to all of the hot rocks. Max setting of 8 is just to hot.

Oh man. As a motorcyclist, this is EXACTLY what I want to see from the manufacturers. It being literally back portable. This legitimately can be an upgrade from the SD2300 for people with limited carrying/cargo capacity. And I'm not JUST talking about motorcyclists. The people that will hike out 10 kilometers away from the road to get to those remote and hard to get to hard rock mines to pick up some gold that was left in spoil piles. Places you can NOT get to with a car.
@BrassMedic
@BrassMedic Год назад
Exactly what I was thinking!! A huge advantage over other, heavy and bulky PI machines. The SDC-2300 is a good machine on gold patches but if your over 6' tall or have a bad back, good luck. Battery and speaker issues, awkward and heavy to swing but it's been one of the very few options so far for compact PI machines. Thanks for the view and comment!

Great video Mark. Excellent content. I know there are already a ton of comparison videos out there, mostly from OZ. I would love to see you do one between the 6000 and the Axiom in native NorCal Goldfield dirt, and maybe a combo of small and large deeper targets? I've heard it can handle super hot ground better, and pretty much keep up with the 6000, but I haven't played with one yet.... I guess you'll have to add this to my requested videos lol. We were snowed in up here, but finally got out last weekend. Need to come down there and get together.

I like the menu on it. I have a Legend that I haven't used much yet because of the menu system. I know that I will learn it within the first 10 hrs of use, but the Nox 800 spoiled me with ease of use with menu systems. 😁 I'll keep the Axiom in mind when I eventually get a gold machine. I've got my eye on the Excalibur II next for water use and to learn a PI machine.
@BrassMedic
@BrassMedic Год назад
I really miss using my Excalibur II in the surf in Half Moon Bay but now I live too far from the ocean. This gold machine from Garrett is tempting at far less than the price of the GPX-6000 and GPZ-7000 but the Minelab SDC-2300 is in a similar price range. This machine will be fun to try. Yes the menu is so easy to understand and I agree about how intimidating the Nokta Makro The Legend menu system is. Thank you for checking in and for the comment!! Looks like we have some nasty weather coming this weekend! So I won't be getting out much but at least I can get in a trip today and tomorrow.

Thank you Mark, but what do the numbers on the Ground Balance window mean and what indicators should be aimed at in order to understand that the ground balance has already been performed correctly?

Absolutely, look me up with my email in description!! If you buy it from Albert up at Placerville Hardware you get a free training session with me anyways! But seems like it's going to be a very serious gold machine at a pretty big difference in cost from the GPX-6000. Thanks for the view and comment!

Sorry for the second, entry I forgot a question. Are pi machines best for beaches and prospecting? Does detectorist use them for fields, relics, parks, homesites and so forth? Thank you, Mark. Always good and interesting videos.
@BrassMedic
@BrassMedic Год назад
They are fantastic for everything, but especially highly mineralized ground and depth. But, you are not able to discriminate to the degree that you can on a VLF machine so if your in any kind of a trashy area, the PI machines are almost completely crippled by detecting every little bit of iron, nails, tacks and staples, etc. But on a pretty clean beach or gold patch they are awesome! Thanks for the view and comment/question!

I never had a PI machine looks like a nice detector with a easy learning curve.Imight look into a price on one as long as it's not as much as the GPZ 7000 mine lab that's a little much thanks.
@BrassMedic
@BrassMedic Год назад
Yes this machine is far less expensive and perfect for someone in its budget range. Competes with the Minelab SDC-2300 at this price range. Each machine has their unique advantages. Can't wait to get out and try one of these! Thanks for the view and comment!

If you had a choice between the axiom and gpx 6000 and money wasnt a factor. Which one is better overall and which one would you choose? Thank you
@BrassMedic
@BrassMedic 9 месяцев назад
Based on my personal observations and experience, the GPX-6000 is better overall. But for most everyone, the money is a huge factor that outweighs the advantages of GPX-6000.
@LuisChavez-mm9us
@LuisChavez-mm9us 9 месяцев назад
Thank you. I read that gpx 6k has software or emi noise issues, or doesn't do as well with hot rocks or mineralized areas as where the axiom might have an edge. Not sure how accurate.
@BrassMedic
@BrassMedic 9 месяцев назад
@@LuisChavez-mm9usThis is really a regional issue. It is an issue for me at one of my sites where we detect below a hill that is covered with a public service communication array and many cell towers. Aviation repeaters, etc. Even with all of that we are still able to get the machine pretty stable at about 80% sensitivity and do well. It was even worse though on the GPX-5000's. As far as hot rocks, regional also and a VERY rare occurrence for us here in my goldfields (Northern CA) so I can't speak on that. So those two issues are not really issues here but in areas where they could be, I can see this being a factor in your decision. Wish I had a way to test this. Do you know where the person(s) were detecting that reported this? Thank you for the great question.

Didn’t scan any modern samples so we can see how the machine responds? like quarter or dime or few rings? 🤦🏼
@BrassMedic
@BrassMedic 2 месяца назад
No unfortunately I did not I only had the machine for one day actually only for a few hours I wish I would have had the time to listen to some signals but the person that bought it is only using it for gold nuggets and has no interest in coins or other objects. Thank you for the view and for your comment

You want to see a tank, get a Garrett ATX … Extremely Heavy Machine!
@BrassMedic

Yes that is a heavy machine as well you're right. Even though the Axiom is a bit heavy it's balanced really well and you don't feel it the ATX however does pull hard on your arm. Thank you for the view and for your comment!
