I watched this as it happened. I do not think Han was being sadistic or cruel or any of that. I think Han is not a full time player. He is a good man who wanted to know how much the bet was. You can look at hands with other players, like Gal, who plays slow to enjoy the moment. Han was not doing this. He wanted to act in a correct manner. He wanted to know how much he was about to risk. Nothing more than that. He's not a pro. That's how I saw it.

i think everyone is missing one key point: AA is obviously calling but also knows that in these games the negotiation of "run it once or twice" ensues after both players are all in ... is it possible that Han wanted to give his opponent the chance to decide on how many times to run it without revealing his hand? ... i really believe Han was thinking ahead while also bracing himself of possibly losing his entire stack on a bad beat ... many things were running through his head and it is likely he doesn't know enough English to express it fully ... just a thought plus he doesn't seem like the 'slow roll' kind of jerk we all run into on occasion

@kongkronos9772
@kongkronos9772 7 месяцев назад
I understand trying to be emotionally prepared for the potential bad beat but it's still a slow roll. Sure it's not malicious but you're also not actually contemplating a decision. You have the nuts and are 100% calling. KK could hypothetically be a nit roll cos I guess somebody could contemplate folding but AA is absolutely a slow roll. Like Garrett I have some understanding that he's not a pro player and probably isn't used to the idea of losing that much money so quickly but it is bad etiquette regardless of intention. He should try, for the future, to be emotionally prepared to call with the nuts instantly. I believe Garrett was also trying to guide him that way. It's best if everybody is having a good time at the poker table and slow rolling (even unintentionally) is bad for the game... in most circumstances with a few funny exceptions.

@rickysmith6041
@rickysmith6041 2 года назад
he's not filthy rich lol. google says his net worth is 5 million? Seems about right. My net worth is negative so trust me I'm not saying it's nothing haha but it's modest among other industries such as entertainment, sports, etc. and it's also modest among professional poker players! About average at least. It probably is his own money but there also a chance that he may have investors supply a portion of his buy in so that his pay is more consistent like a salary and can persist through variance. No matter how good a player is, it's not wise for a player to gamble with a large proportion of his net worth. That way he can make the best mathematical decision possible. If he makes a bet that will win him $100,000 55% of the time, and that's his entire net worth, he will only see the mathematical advantage over a substantial amount of trials. Over 1000 trials he will be close to 55% but if it's his entire net worth he might lose the first bet and then he has no more money! That's taking it to the extreme, and it's why poker players like to sell stakes in their play. But just to reiterate, I don't know if he does I'm just saying he might.

Years ago, there was a championship tournament "team event" and a guy with pocket aces called a time out to confirm with his teammates that it was okay to call an all-in with pocket aces. When you are playing bigger than you are comfortable with, or just overall risk adverse, people tend to slow down. Especially when your every action will be criticized like this live stream... I see a lot of uneasiness, maybe even slight fear in his play style... But to this point, it's not disrespectful or malicious by choice.

Yeah, but the difference is these guy are playing with those house downpayments, which means they're okay with losing them. I'm sure you and I wouldn't feel very comfortable gambling with that amount of money, even in an 86-14 spot, which is why we wouldn't do it. It's fine to want to know how much it is, but it could have been 10x what the bet actually was, and Han still wasn't going to say "eh, I don't want to lose that much" and fold. He was always calling. If you really feel the need to do something like this to get a count when you're clearly never folding AA, you ought to just say "I have aces I just want to know what I'll be up or down if I lose, I'm not slow rolling."

When heads up, you are never doing anything other than calling the opponents all-in when you have aces. If you happen to lose the pot with your aces, the dealer will count the opponents checks and tell you exactly how much you lost. You don't have to shove your stack in like Hellmuth but make the call quicker when you have aces in this situation.
