I think Gary's contributions as a P-funk composer/arranger/singer is what really elevated them into greatness. Gary and Junie had so much "vibe" on Aqua Boogie , One Nation and Uncle Jam that P-Funk became immortal. I agree with your comment. But guitarists are a dime a dozen.
Gary Shider was ill at the not so ready for retirement, and Gary Shider laid down the tracks for George Clinton's Atomic Dog ! R.I.P too one of the greatest PARLIAMENT FUNKADELIC 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸 players 🔦🧠🐛💀🦨🛸🤩😎☠️.
Yeah, it was a Kendra set right before the p-funk allstars so I guess he could get by with it! He was in full diaper for the p-funk set. But I really enjoyed this set because they did "I'll Stay" and "Baby, I owe you something good". Never saw p-funk do those in concert.
Yeah, back in the day, late 70's Garry used to do a little more lead then he fell back to being mostly a singer and some rhythm guitar. It was good to see him get back on it so I started vid in the middle of the song.
@JaffeCree thanks man. Glad to get some vid of Garry out there in something other than a diaper! Shared some good times with him at pre-show tailgates.
Gary I love & miss you,but the FUNK you made will go on. If you say you won't keep the FUNK without the old school FUNKERS then you never was a true FUNK fan
White music be damned. This white DJ from the '80's gave these players equal spin time, despite the puzzled look on those kids faces who were still trying to oingo boingo. Once they found weed, they found the Parliament Funkadelics.
@JaffeCree thanks for letting me know. This was sad news. From a selfish standpoint, I think it is really impossible for it to be the same without Garry, just like if George was no longer there. We saw them in February and he brought it as usual.
@nosyfieldstone Well Brother, from my own "selfish standpoint", I'm finish with the P-Funk. The "mothership" may continue to fly all over the world, but without Starchild, I really don't wanna ride. Let them "placebos" ride on!
@6402680 You can't do that man! Garry will be missed most definitely but what about Bernie, Billy Bass, Bootzilla, and most importantly GEORGE? Plus Kendra whose song this was is HOT and rising! Gotta keep supporting!
P-Funk has not been the same for a few years now. It will be a lot different without Garry, the true leader of "The P-Funk Allstars" Sort of like Jerry gone from the Greatful Dead.
all the ogs are gone we got mine but he can't sing we hit lige, clip, and Byrd, still on board but can nobody touch the ogs like garry, boogie, Glen and Eddie
Yeah, he got rid of the dreads. Had a bit of a mohawk. Came out in the diaper for the main p-funk set. He played best with his back to the crowd. Last time at this venue he came out to our tailgate and had chicken and beer with us.
