Its odd that all of these stories like this on Garth always leave out that in 2008 Garth brooks sold out 9 consecutive shows in Kansas City where he flew home every night to take his daughters to school every morning and then picked them up from school in the afternoon and would fly out just hours before the show
I know right AND LEFT OUT HIS LOVE FOR Chris Ledoux!!!!!!!!!! He credits him in many many interviews, wrote a song about him and told him personally how he was one who he first start watching from the rodeos!!!!!!!!
Garth Brooks knows what was important in his life !!! I love Garth Brooks with all of my heart! Garth is the greatest Dad & Entertainer on this planet !!💜💜
He actually did 10 shows. 9 were public the 10th was specifically for Walmart employees to thank them for continuing to sell his albums while he was “retired”
This was a good video, but not great! First of all, he may have been born in Tulsa, but he grew up in Yukon and graduated from high school in 1980. Second, the bar wear he met his first wife, Sandy is called Tumbleweed Dancehall, which closed in December 2006. Third, Garth’s children weren’t born until he was already a household name! Taylor Mayne Pearl(1992), August Anna(1994) and Allie Colleen(1996). Fourth, his divorce from Sandy was filed in November 2000 and finalized in December 2001. He married Trisha Yearwood in December 2005! Finally, he’s now a grandfather thanks to his daughter, August , who gave birth in 2013 to a daughter named Karalynn. I felt it important to set the record straight for several reasons. Garth was a measly freshman, when I was a senior at Yukon High School. Our hometown is so proud of him that we renamed the OK State Highway 92 to Garth Brooks Blvd. and his name is on the city’s water tower next to Interstate 40, so anyone traveling down that road will see it! Yukon was created during the Run of 1889, which my great-grandparents successfully settled down off that very highway. At the cemetery where his beloved mother is buried, my aunts, uncles and cousins are buried very close by. When I go visit my family’s graves, I always pay my respects to his mother, because without her....Garth wouldn’t be here! He is still a caring and humble person, which is so refreshing. They even have a home here in Oklahoma
@Lisa C Thanks for your compliments, it's a pleasure having you as my fan, I hope you won't stop listening to my music. You seems to know a lot about me
@@janetcoyne9255 I'm far from bitter and in fact I'm very proud of his accomplishments!!!!! If you took the time to check out the other replies, you would see one from GB himself complimenting me as a loyal fan!!!! The term measly was used as a jest in my post since I was a senior, when he was a freshman. As far as rambling on and on.... you need to rethink that, too!!! I was inputting vital information that the video overlooked or was incorrect!!! Perhaps you saw the amount of words and chose not to read what was written or you have a learning disability and there were too many big words for your little brain!!!
I've always been a fan of his music. "The Dance" has always been a special song. Even more now after losing the love of my life 7 years ago next month.
Yeah there’s a lot of inconsistencies in this. I don’t know who made this but wow. When talking about Britain’s lack of respect to country artists they mention Alan Jackson and show a pic of Travis Tritt, they jump to 2008 when Brooks does the LA concert then talks about the Byond The Season child hunger drive, an album that came out in 1992.
For all the Garth haters let this sink in, as good as Country Music was in the 80's they we're gettin killed by 80's Rock it wasn't until Garth took over is when Country became the top music, now hate on that! :)
@@clutchcity3456 Those terms are not mutually exclusive. In fact, most would argue that the songs that became super popular was because they were great songs.
I wouldn’t say country was the top music in the 90’s. Yes it had more mainstream relevance similar to what happening now but grunge and boy band pop was the kings of the 90’s. Garth did change the country live show. A lot of country artists since have taken a page out of Garth’s live performance book.
I love Garth. He is a genuine person who loves his kids with all his heart. I remember when the kids were little and he was married to Sandy, they just loved each other but knew when they had enough and were better to be divorced then kill or hate each other. Now he is married to Trisha and they seem to compliment each other.
Yes we were blessed to have The Ledgend this year, it was great to see my 26yr old son there loving it, I was listening to Garth many years before I had my son, I have to say he has Great taste in music.. 😆 🤣 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
There is now. Actually there is multiple versions of the video, but the one released in the Ultimate Hits has been labeled as the official video for Friends In Low Places.
Garth had a live show that was comparable to KISS in rock. It was extremely energetic and he drew the young audience into country music in a bigger way than any artist ever did. I guess you could blame him in a small way for the way country shows have turned more into rock shows. I'm sure that was great for him and great for the Nashville executives and concert sales especially in the USA but it eneded up being bad for traditional country in the end. I worked in country since 1977 and watched all of this happen. Garth is great person though and puts on one hell of a show still today in his older age. his shows in the 90's were as i said earlier a really energetic hard hitting show.
This is a late reply, but I was at those 90s concerts and given that Garth can captivate an audience with just a guitar and none of the fanfare he has at his live shows like he did at the Vegas residency in 2011, I personally pinpoint Big & Rich performing 'Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy' on the CMAs or ACMs (whichever it was) as the catalyst that let the rappers and sexual content into country. In my opinion, if it's marked with an 'explicit content' warning on iTunes, it isn't country. Country has standards and I think Garth embodies them well while still appealing to and influencing the new crowd.
This was just really a poorly written documentary. Had some good interviews...but overall...the people who wrote the cheesy sounding announcer script was terrible. No better way to describe this doc without laughing!! Its really poor overall.
6:18 "Anyone who wants to become a country singer, as to come through Nashville." That's funny when some of the biggest country artists of all time never went through Nashville.
@@angelmoore2453 Guess I'm not a true country fan although I have everything from Hag, Jones, Willie, Waylon, hell even older then that like some Jim Reeves 🤷♂️I've just always preferred Garth over George 🤷♂️
At this point, Garth Brooks is the king, no qualifier needed. Garth has sold almost twice as many records as Michael Jackson has, and even more than Elvis has. Only the Beatles have sold more records than Garth Brooks has. You can look it up 🙂
I’ve never understood how and why all his music disappeared from RU-vid. I bought every album, including Chris Gaines, but haven’t seen a video in years. I really miss his stuff. I think a lot of fans felt he turned his back on them. I know I did.
@@LB-pg3no Because if the music is free to download, the writers make nothing for what they have put into the music. They created the songs, they deserve to get paid as well as the rest of the industry.
Even though that's his official title, I feel like every generation has their own "King". Hank Williams in the 30's & 40's. Johnny Cash 50's & 60's. George Strait 70's & 80's. Garth Brooks 90's & 00's. But that's just my opinion.
Funny, as soon as I read the title, I thought, sorry, I love Garth, but George Strait is the King Of Country, (even Garth would agree!), then I scroll down to your comment :)
Another one of our favourites "tomorrow never comes " my son even sings it lol but my fav is the video standing outside the fire cause I have chosen that one for my funeral song as I am getting cremated lol but I just love all of your music love ya
George called Garth the real king of country, that was just a nick name that stuck with George because of his sound, however he himself has HUGE respect for Garth, quit bashing shit especially if you don't know what you're talkin about
Thank you so much, Joanna! Your kind words are like a warm hug and they make me feel so appreciated. Keep on listening and I'll keep on making music from the heart.
On 'This Is Garth Brooks,' his first televised concert where he told his life story, the first thing he says to the audience is 'I'm scared to death right now, just so you know." lol He's so humble.
I think Garth is a great entertainet.. I still think Garth and Trisha was into each other s long time ago. No disrespect . Sometimes people can't help that special connection
Did anyone even review this doc before it was published? So much wrong information. The Chris Gaines segment really pissed me off. They showed a clip of him saying it was a film project and that he was acting a fictional role and not going pop. Then a second later that blonde lady was saying that he developed an alter ego to get into pop. The times he was seen in public dressed like CG was when they were in downtown shooting videos for the songs. It was a role he was playing for a movie. Know your facts before you create an hour long documentary...especially when there’s so much contradiction between the commentators and the clips showing the exact words coming out of his mouth. This doc went downhill fast!
The smartest business move he did was this tour schedule where he plays 5-6 shows in a row at one place. You get the same amount of days but less travel and road crew demands. Pretty brilliant.
#16:10 I can remember when “The Thunder Rolls” got banned from CMT. I lead the charge to get that bad boy put back on CMT. Shortly after I initiated the first letter to them about the banning of that song/video, while they yet put on the video of “Earl Had To Die”; which not only sang about killing someone… But actually SHOWED someone being killed in the video. Needless to say; after my letter had went to them, and a bunch more people echoed the same thing, now you can actually view that video on CMT. You’re welcome.
This boy can never be the king of anything. George Strait is, always has been and always will be the KING of Country Music. And, no. You can no longer identify Garth from the rest. Not in over 20 years.
Is it just me or did the announcer call Travis Tritt the wrong name because it showed a picture of Travis Tritt but they said Alan Jackson. Also Steve Warner's name. The narrator said Steve's last name wrong but what do you expect when you're not used to hearing the singers names or reading the right way
big fan of garth, but i also hold him partly responsibl for country music going to the dogs in the two thousands.every now and then you will still ear a traditional country song, but these days its mostly trash
I saw in an interview he started out playing rock covers. I always wanted to hear him do a bit of that stuff, Bob Seeger, etc. I was a little pissed when he pulled his music from RU-vid. Follow him for a decade, buy all his CDs, then he disappears, taking even his videos with him. It seemed like he was dissing all his fans.
There are some really good songs on the album - The Lost Sessions. Also he's done lots of covers on some of his albums that came in the The Ultimate Collection. Songs such as Against the Wind.
He totally retired because of chris gaines (embarrasing to even mention), ego brooks said it would sell more than elvis and the beatles combined in an interview...well it flopped miserably, ( he then used the excuse he would raise his daughters, well before the flop he said tgey would het the best education on the road...home schooling) his ego was so hurt he retired...poor baby!!! Presently he is trying to keep up with the extremely talented artist of today and cant quite cut it! The crap he puts out now is just a lame attemt to stay on top and you need real talent for that!
That guy is full of shit he said that in another video so pay no mind to his lyin ass, and Garth left to take care of his kid's, if your a parent you wanna be able to see your kid's as kid's before their grown.
I really wish these people would get the information correct on the whole Chris Gaines thing. He wasn’t trying out a new genre or alter ego...it was a fictional role for a movie that unfortunately never got made. They showed a clip of him talking about that very thing and then followed it up with the blonde lady and the Brit saying he’s trying to go pop. Who was the editor for this and why don’t they use his actual interview clips as a source of information? He literally explained it all and they completely ignored it.
I'm sorry I have a complaint here. You put some unneeded polotics in my music documentary. Also I havent heard a thing about Chris LeDoux in this and I'm half way threw it
I found it interesting (?) that the announcement of a world tour didn't include so many of the places that helped make him a big success originally, like Australia and New Zealand and other places in the Asia-Pacific region where he was/is very popular... it was very disappointing...😔 🙃🐨🇦🇺
A distant cousin of mine was Garths first agent. Garth was fortunate. Cousin croaked, Garth got a new agent, and his world grew... lol Sorry cousin... Garth was better off without you...
Since when did Garth add "electronic influences" to his music? I must have missed that lol. What he really brought to the game was some rock/electric-blues attitude.
12:59 ohh Wow I didn't know that the video for "friends in low places" had any domestic violence in it whatsoever, nor did I know there was even an official music video for that song. Here I thought it was the thunder rolls. Oh silly me 😂, For reals though this video should've been fact checked before release 😂.
Sorry People!!! But there is only ONE KING OF COUNTRY and it ain't Garth Brooks It's George Strait Hands down & Undisputed KING!!! Garth is up there but there's only one GOAT and thats George!!!
Thank you so much, Kristine! Your kind words are like a warm hug and they make me feel so appreciated. Keep on listening and I'll keep on making music from the heart.
