I remember seeing ''Are Friends Electric'' on Countdown, and bought the 7" record. It was great. Then the video for ''Cars'' popped up on CD later in the year, and it blew my mind. He was my new robotic crush. My sister hated him. lol

The Word was also a good show for live acts.

Been a fan of Gary .. from the days of Tubeway Army and he just gets better with every new Album ... and you hear him sing the name ARMY on Are Friends Electric he called Are Friends Electric a shit song but it made number 1 In England May 1979 for 4 weeks for a song 45 year old still sound good today

Hi. I think I heard you say My Name Is Ruin was from the film Dune? If so it wasn’t. It was released in 2017 and the first single from his album Savage. Persia was only 12 at the time of recording. I used to watch The Old Grey Whistle Test back in the 70's. It was a British show. We got it in Australia for a couple of minutes. Still on UK TV? Wow.

I had watched this same video not long after your previous Numan one and had pretty much the same sentiments: His vocals needed to be a touch louder (at least in 'My Name Is Ruin') and have a touch of reverb added, and stuff like that; Of course, the studio recording is spot-on in that respect 😅 Still, though: It's pretty cool that he's still got that same distinct voice! 🤩 And more recent interviews with him are a great thing to watch, too! 😊👍

This is gary aged 60! Remember that. Are friends electric which you loved was from what us termed his machine age and so are tracks like down in the park and we are glass etc. I like his machine age music the best but I also think this newer stuff is better than 90%of today's music. Thanks for reviewing this song may I humbly suggest you go back to the beginning again with say down in the park.

I thought it sounded interesting, though the audio here was perhaps a little too muddy to do it justice. Tried listening to it in hi-res, but despite the vocal being a little more forward it still seemed a tad too muddy, plus thin-sounding somehow. I wanted to like it more...
