I played music live for 20 years endless venues and when you watch this it makes me feel like wow this dude is on another level or planet... I mean who can sing like that, write music like that, and play like that... very very few in the world! I saw him live and was extremely impressed. It's shocking how few people know about him... when he's so insanely good...
I got to know him when I saw he was the support artist for Guns n Roses(June 2022), I discover this monster the same day I saw him on live and was mind blowing.
Awesome prospective. I’m not a performer but I enjoy going to as many shows as I possibly can every year. I saw Gary 5 times this year and was lucky enough to meet him once. I know he’s huge but I still think he’s heavily underrated ! He’s phenomenal.. I can’t being to explain how psychedelic his show was at red rocks. It was different than the others. They jammed on every track for about 5min before and after. Hope to see him for many more years !
How few? How few people know?... this video has 15 million views... and it's a live version... the other versions have millions of views each, too. And that's just one song... albeit it's his biggest hit. It's not a billion views, but hey, still pretty well known.
@@GizzyDillespee us I understand he's well known in the blues community... I even remember he played at the White House for President Obama. But he's playing some pretty small gigs now...such as the one in SLC I watched. And still when you ask people about him they still have never heard of him... and that's even among musicians. But I understand as you said he's not by any means completely unknown with the numbers of RU-vid hits, etc... but he's not as well known as let's say John mayer...
I do not like when comparisons are made to other musicians, " Is he the next Hendrix? the next Stevie Ray Vaughan?" I think he has his hands full just being Gary Clark Jr. - the best he can be at being himself - yup, that should be enough for everybody.
Hendrix and SRV are up there smiling for sure..........that was a perfect teleportation to heaven and back just like the legends did, only goes on this trip the ones prepared for it........ Lord have mercy 🙏
I saw Gary Clark Jr on LPB , Austin City Blues one Saturday night. This was the beginning of my love for him. He is a unique musician and singer. I love his style. He can master any genre of music. I want to see him play in person! Maybe my children and grands will gift me this wish this year. What a guy!! ❤❤
Man for at least the last 5 years I've listened to this particular performance of this song and watched the video many many times . It's a truly amazing perfoemce . I love it
Something I really enjoy about soulful players such as Gary is that he takes his time to approach solo parts, leaving room for the rest of the band to be heard and build up the climax for the song. The sort of "silent" moments help you feel the real beauty of what he plays.
What did I just listen to? So I’m doing yard work and have the headphones on, don’t think much about it and this random song comes on. Til several minutes in and mind blown! Jimi Hendrix II? I had to stop and listen again..... speechless. What a talent.
i dont think these people could fully appreciate the pure magic of Gary Clark Jr they just witnessed. wow. blown away by this guys talent. Thank you God.
Montauk has become a yuppie hell hole. Its sad. Ive been going out there every summer for almost 30 years. Its changed drastically over the past decade, and not in a good way.
this is one of my favorite blues clips ever. even more than BB or clapton.. you can see him playing the disdain through his music. no equivalent. thats where the real blues comes from. full stop. keep slaying mr clark. you will be remembered for it.
The people in this crowd don't seem to know what they've got in front of them. An epic performance from a legit living legend and they're talking to each other casually🤨
I have seen this man live several times live and on a PBS Performance at the White House, BluesTribute. Most people do not realize that they are witnessing one of the greatest guitarist of the 21 century. Simply grand. In a class all his own. And there are many incredible artists that have made an amazing array of music the past 30 years. He stands alone!!!
I saw Gary open up for.. I dont even remember the lead act at the ACC center in Moronto back in 2014. Never had heard him before, was totally captivated by the soul and raw talent. Every live performance is a unique treat. I'll never forget the sound of that snare crack through my bones. Goose bumps every time... I've been ready for that train to roll in so many times but kept on going. Makes me emotional damn near every listen. What a fuckin groove man... healing video vibrations and I'm just glad I can comprehend the language
I was in my office while i had youtube playing some music in the background, 2 min in I realized I wasn't doing anything except playing air drums/guitar. I just had to open the window to see what legend this was playing. 3 min in, I was so impressed and lost in the performance Gary gave here to the point I was also a damn zombie just staring at the screen in shock, I couldn't even react and had goosebumps everywhere. I totally understand this crowd, I was just as impressed and couldn't move. simply shocked. I just witnessed Gary Clark walk on water...
Man, I was just letting RU-vid go on autoplay in the background at work and it landed me here. Haven't heard of Gary Clark Jr before, but I'm glad the 'tube slipped it in my line up. What's more, I almost took this to be a studio recording, was surprised when I looked over to see it actually a live performance! Damn, dude. Damn.
Gary Clark Jr has been my absolute shit for ten years and I’ve watched this genuinely like 100 times. He doesn’t need to show off, but he fucking can. He’s such an artful player and his vocals just smoothly dance over his words... also just a god damned shred god. My heart feels sparkly and my face looks wrecked, and I just go elsewhere in the best way when I hear him play. We’re lucky for his work and passion.
he was at Grinders KC stage and we missed it, WE HAVE seen many great shows there and the uptown theater , man theres like12 venues ,Truman .tHE UPTOWN IS VERY COOL THEATER.if you are here check out grinders for sure
This is what happens when you play in front of people who are preoccupied with being seen rather than being in a moment of greatness..... Come play my backyard Gary. I guarantee I'll have 150 people there that will be having the time of their lives hearing this🤘🤘🤘🤘
This guy is a badass guitar player with a killer supporting team. Best to see Gary live as his performances are absolutely riveting. I have seen EVH, SRV, Joe Walsh, Rory Gallagher, Gary Moore and many others. I may be old but I know wicked guitar players.
I’ve listened to this 100 times at least and I still come back every couple of days to do it again… my very favourite live performance! this man and band is just amazing
No mere HUMAN could just do what I witnessed, that was SPIRITUAL on ALL LEVELS, and the guitar 🎸solo was assisted from another GALAXY. WTH did I just witness?????
Song: When My Train Pulls In (Gary Clark Jr.) Lyrics Everyday nothing seems to change Everywhere I go I keep seeing the same old things And I can't take it no more I would leave this town But I, I ain't got no where else to go now Wake up in the morning to more bad news And I sometimes I feel like I was born to lose It's driving me out of my mind Gonna catch the next train And I move on down the line But I'll be ready now I'll be ready when my train pulls in Well I'll be ready now I'll be ready when my train pulls in I know my time ain't long And I can't live this life again Walking down the street you might wanna cross a smiling face But they'll stab you in the back as soon as you turn, walk away Oh Lord, it's bringing me down, yeah If things don't change around here Ain't no use in my hanging 'round But I'll be ready now I'll be ready when my train pulls in But I'll be ready now, yeah, yeah I'll be ready when my train pulls in I know my time ain't long And I, I can't live this life again, oh no
He is so underrated & underappreciated. A non-conformist. I'm pretty sure he won't do the things they wished to be a pretty boy trending everyday. He's not about the rat race. He is doing it for the love of the art. We love that about him!

30 seconds in and im not sure... 16 minutes later ive rewound the solo twice and am rocking in my chair letting out the occasional "Yeah" lol love this
I listen to this over and over again... something special about his live performances, that the recordings don't capture. Can't wait to actually see him live some day in the future post covid
This has great sound for a live performance. Gary Clark Jr.'s voice was made to sing Soulful Blues. I have lost count on how many times I replayed this song. You get lost in it then your mind screams encore! Peace & Blessings.
After 6:40 he shifts into an ethereal plane...channelling the wavelengths of the gods themselves! Just closes his eyes and lets the music flow to his fingers. Get goosebumps every time I hear it. The crowd had no idea what they witnessed that day!
