Gary is the real deal. I am disabled so I was lucky enough to sit in the front row at his red rocks show a few years back. My time is short. I am so blessed to have been able to see him perform live.
#GARYCLARKJR #IFTROUBLEWASMONEY Magnificent playing blues man. You out there showing out. But, if i could play like that, i would show out too 😄👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🎸🥁🎹🎸💙💝💛💚❤️💖💜🇨🇱

CAN DEFINITLY MAKE AN ARGUMENT! HERES WHY? 1.....FLOW, HE GETS INSIDE THE RYTHM LIKE NOBODY ELSE.....! 2.FEEL, HIS PLAYING IS FROM THE SOUL, THERES NO BORROWED LICKS, GREAT PLAYERS PLAY FROM INSIDE....3. TOUCH, HE KNOWS EXACTLY WHEN TO LET UP ANDGO FOR IT! I CAN KEEP GOING HES A 10 OUT OF 10 AS FARAS IM CONCERED!
Real music, real art. They have so much negative to say about this man, yet they buy out stadium tickets to enjoy his music & art!. Love U Gary & appreciate ur art. No jealousy or hate here baby.
Just woke up in sunny South Australia still feeling stoned from the night before, having a coffee enjoying the early afternoon vibes One Love from Aboriginal Australia.
I will sleep better tonight knowing Gary Clark is around the blues is safe and sound once again thank you kindly that lead guitar just ripped the scar off my soul god bless the telecaster then and now the future is looking brighter come on lets go........ my mother use to tell me there be days like this.....Zapata /s rhythm a perfect blend .....love it ..
my God, he has a sweet blues voice, and he literaly fired the guitar up (as arvin lee had done... in " I go home") Roy Buchanan would be envy indeed...
This is an Albert Collins song with a Magic Sam twist. Check out their versions! Do the blues/rock and roll some justice! Dig deeper! Find the roots of the roots! This kind of music didn’t just spawn in Gary’s head, he has influences. Learn about them and keep this kind of music alive! I think the blues will have a HUGE second coming in the next 50 years. Idk about you guys, but I want to be invloved
Goosebumps. Every time. There's the "blues" and then there's The Blues. And another thing called Feel. Other dudes could play this song and it would be good... But you can't measure the Feel these guys have.
Man, that's some mean blues. Now that you mention it, I think I may have run intoa bit of trouble myself, I didn't want to say anything though, but I really got the blues because of it, and I'm kind of sad today. Gotta make a move.
What the heck is it about Gary Clark Jr? His music is so simple and so ridiculously interesting. His vocal and lead/rhythm phrasing, theme and variation, are simply perfect. God must love the blues cuz He sent us Gary Clark Jr.
And I do respect what rappers are putting out there. They are speaking from their experience which many times has been terribly difficult. In fact the way they use their experiences to make music and even develop and extend music is quite astounding. It's evidence of beauty and power in them that has always been in them, the divine spark, the image of God. If I could offer them one thing I would tell them that they are loved and cherished by God who demonstrated His love by sending His Son Jesus. They are beautiful, perfect, and forgiven just like all of us because of Him. That one idea gives hope that can transform the body, mind, and spirit.
he surely listened to Albert collins and Jimi Hendrix and probably Stevie Ray Vaughn and a hundred others Buddy Guy et al but mostly those 2 first I mentioned hear in the guitar... Vocals there's some other influences. that black guy who blew up big from the 90's who played ver thin sounding fender ?? what was his name? Lots of poppy crossover songs from him too. . that's what I hear, and a natural talent that you can't buy or even acquire by practice. You either got it or you don't.
Gary has the most hair rousingly authentic guitar sound to come along since Hendrix. With that wailing, liquid voice, this young man is the complete electric blues package. And he can pitch some very tasty soul for those wholike it as well. You can hear echoes of Curtis Mayfield in that smooth tenor delivery.
There are people who play The Blues then there are those that FEEL The Blues. There isn't a single song of his that feels forced. Every chord speaks to the soul!!!
YOU SAID IT! WAS THINKING THE SAME THING, HE BECOMES ONE WITH THE SONG, ANY SONG, THERES PLAYING ON TOP OF A BLUES THEN THERES GETTING INSIDE OF A BLUES....NEVER HEARD HIM OUTSIDE OF A SONG! CLAPTON SAID, HE SAW 2 PPL WITH A NATURAL FLOW, GARY AND JIMMY HENDRIX, I LOVE JIMMY, BUT THE MORE I LISTEN TO GARY? IF I HAD TO CHOOSE ONE, I THINK ITS GARY! ONLY BC OF HIS STYLE I LEAN MORE TOWARDS GARYS SOUND AND THE FEELING OF HIS PLAYING, SO SMOOOTHHHHHH....BUT ITS VERRRRYYYY CLOSE...
Gary Clark Jr is one of the best live shows I have seen. And I have seen many of the greats. Zepplin, Floyd, SRV, Clapton...HIS interpretation of electric blues is fresh and on point. I have not heard much new music lately that is as stirring. Bravo GCJ!
#GaryClarkJr. The blues man for the millennial generation. You are a breath of fresh air. You be showing out on every jam. The thing I also enjoy watching is your effortless playing. It appears so easy for you. I believe you could play that fine instrument in your sleep. You are that tremendously gifted 😃👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🎸🪘🎹🥁🎺🎷💝💚💛💙💖💜❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🇨🇱
Muddy, Hooker, BB, Prince, Jimi and all soulful guitarists before Lives ON in this man!! He's a Prince and a King, literally! Love him. Thank you Gary for heeding the call!
I heard this performance on a radio station and when it tuned it just hit that first solo and it blew me away I was sure this was a recording from late 60’s or 70’s. I guarantee you anyone in here complaining about being out of key will never make anything sonically impressive in their entire lives.
Lyrics : If trouble was money, I'd swear I'd be a millionaire If trouble was money, babe, I'd swear I'd be a millionaire If worries was dollar bills I'd buy the whole world and have money to spare Worry, worry, baby, I've had worries on my mind I said, "Worry, worry, worry, baby I've had worries all my life" You know times is hard, baby, yeah, I swear, I don't tell you no lie My mother used to tell me She said, "Son, there gonna be days like this" I said, "My mother used to tell me" She said, "Son, there gonna be days like this" She said, "I want you to always be a winner I love you, son, I don't want you to quit"
Zapata' guitar solo is killer on this. That slighty out of tune sound gives the blues such wonky edge I really dig that. It's like somethings not right and that's the Blues.
Alexander Hagen Detman and I are referring to how electric guitarists raise a note by fretting it and then bending the string perpendicular to the neck. To bend the string just enough but not too much requires a good sense of pitch and perfect control of the instrument. Often, the guitarist will give a vibrato to the note once it is bent to the desired pitch. This too requires a focus on the targeted pitch. The second guitarist seems to be unskilled in these techniques, or very careless.
y'all need to check out on some freddie king or some jeff beck. blues is all about the microtones and i think this guy sounds dope. gary seems to think so too. give it a try yourself, just bend a four up to a five and play some other melody, then come back like you're gonna hit the same bend, but this time take it too far, not quite to the sharp five but definitely past the five. that kind of shit is what got me hooked on playing blues as opposed to other harmonic styles. (you also have your underbends too.) i agree that this isn't the best solo i've seen from this guy though, but some of the stuff he played on gary's live album was pretty sweet. i've always liked stuff that sounds a little disjointed though so maybe i just have a taste for shit that's not quite in tune.
