Forgotten how good a finisher he was, however Gazza's sublime skills helped his tally😊

He had a 6th sense for knowing where and when to get onto a rebound better than any other striker I think I've ever seen, certainly British born, arguably anywhere. That wasn't all he did though. His pace was truly electrifying, that was the thing the defenses really concerned themselves with when facing him, but he was a finishing machine; Just watch how he instantly knows exactly what to do, when to do it, whether it requires power or placement (or both). He even scored so many goals that went in off the keeper, as if it was always part of the plan to use the keeper to get the ball travelling at exactly the right angle to go in.

He said he’d developed a theory at Barca that he wasn’t stronger or necessarily faster than the defender so he would attack the space where the defender wasn’t. If the ball goes to the defender then so be it. If it ends up in the space he attacked he scores and it looks supernatural.

Was at the majority of those games, personal favourites the winner at Old Trafford from 20 yards in front of us on that terrace, and also the winning header in the last minute at Chelsea, great away days those

So consistent at every club he played for , top scorer at Barca each season till Cruyff stuck him on the wing cuz he didn’t want him, his best days were definitely at Spurs though , a great variety of goals not just a poacher, very brave aswell he’d dive in where it hurt to put it in the net , world class in the days of Van Basten, Papin, Rush, Careca, Butragueno, Sanchez, Voller, Klinsmann, Elkjaaer , super striker….

Tell the truth you were happy for the goals he scored for England hey ever hear of the hand of God goal and how the English won't shut up about it and won't talk about 66 when the ball never crossed the line all the German lads knew it never crossed and so did the English but they jumped with joy when the linesman gave it.

If England had just played Barnes in the 86 WC earlier I think they would have won it Diego was out of breath and barnes's second cross was going in until an argie just threw himself in front of Lineker got there late to stop Lineker hitting it but the ball hit the argies back and never crossed the line I don't know why Barnes wasn't playing earlier.

A very good player. Has he ever been back to Spurs and done ht interview etc? Was he at the final game at WHL? Does he ever speak fondly of his time at Spurs? Do any of his former team mates speak warmly of him? If Lineker was made of chocolate he’d eat himself.

Such a great underrated player. Probably cleverest striker England have had. Was to young to watch him at the time properly but i remember everyone wanted to be lineker when playing football at school. God knows what he would be worth today and how much he would score but when you see a technically bad player like haaland score so much for man city I guess he'd score two a game?!
