Saw this guy rock Van Halen, AC/DC, Ozzie, and Motley Crue off the stage at Monsters of Rock, Nurenburg, W. Germany (1985). G.Mo was a very pleasant surprise to the Americans in the crowd. The locals were already aware of this guy, and they were trying to tell us about him, but we took him lightly until he took the stage. We proceeded to get our faces melted by one of the greatest artists that anyone could ever hope to see. RIP MR. Gary Moore.
I heard this song on the radio one day in the backgroud I wasn't really paying attention ,then I heard the solo and I stopped and said who the frig was that? I was blown away and spent the rest of the day trying to figure out who it was .He was a favorite of mine from then on ,it's just one of those musical moments that gives you a reason to keep playing
I was waking up in the morning and heard this on the clock radio and , like everybody, was blown away. Called the radio station to find out who it was. That was 30? years ago and it still moves me beyond belief.
Best cover of this song in the history of covers. I have a near 40 year old CD of Victims Of The Future where he did this cover first. Ian Paice of Deep Purple on the drums.
I never use the term "greatest" (because there are so many amazing people out there) but I so agree that in many respects Gary Moore is second to none ... like Frank Zappa, Steve Vai, Vinnie Colaiuta, Chris Cornell, Guthrie Govan and the many others who created unique stuff
My first exposure to Gary Moore was watching 'Rock School' on PBS. The end song they cut away to was 'End of the World'. I think I both shit and jizzed my pants simultaneously. Love ya Gary.
i dont agree he is underrated - any guitarist would agree he was a gifted great...and on top of that a fine vocalist and song writer ...so sad he's left us too early ...RIP Gary, our hero
saw him in Dallas Tx about 84 ? I guess...he crushed the place...never had the chance to catch him live again...he was 1 of the best ever, shit...still is. tom a
when I was a young kid I heard this guitar and said who is that??? sounded so clear and such a awesome tone from the les paul I was Instantly hooked..Gary Is Amazing!!!
He was the best, voice, rhythm- and leadguitar in one person, only with a bassplayer and a drummer.…. Today some "star" can't sing alive...and sells millions of cd's….
@richmonksgtr They were all mainly there to see Whitesnake to be honest. It was same in Glasgow but the Glasgow crowd always go to see Gary the Glasgow show was released as an audio cd and DVD of sheffield show was released. Sadly Y&T I think didnt get much a reception at either show. The majority of audience were gearing up for Whitesnake and having to wait for 2 bands sets prior to it could be a downer.
You and about 800 million other guitarist! All my friends think I am great, invite me to parties to come and play. But when I see GM I just want to put it away. And most of his patterns are simple but it is just the speed, and clarity. It's just so clean. I own everything he put out to the public, god I miss him. Can't believe he is gone.
Followed Gary from back in the 80's when he had G Force going. Remember seeing him as a support band for the old original Whitesnake, when it was Bernie Marsden, Neil Murray and Mickie Moody etc. Whitesnake were their best then, so was Gary. Gary was always (and is now) a God given talent with the Les Paul, or at a push also awesome with a Strat. Somehow it just doesn't do it for me, this song with with this guitar. Is it just me? Or is it just the song? Cheers..............
