Really enjoyed this.. I'm as fellow keyboard player but mostly hardware and a small bit of software. However I'm facinated to learn more about how you program all Gary's songs and put them together in Mainstage... Saw you guys in Dublin last year as your tour was starting.... blew me away...

I know it's completely unrealistic to be touring with old analogue kit given it's unreliablity and inflexiblity but I'm just super chuffed that I managed to see Gary live right in the beginning when he was using this wonderful equipment.

Don’t mind people who say things as if they know... (Jeremy Horne for instance)... seen these people for years on forums and YT continously slagging off anything GN and band members over the past 20 years or so have done. As if they know everything and their opinion is essential for others to read. It’s beyond me. I think you do a fabulous job, so please: keep up the good work! A real keyboard player can see what you’re doing and it’s a much better job than I will ever be able to 👍🏻👍🏻

Hi Ray, they are Cymatic uTrack 24. They’re great but they’ve stopped making them. They’re quite difficult to get hold of and alternatives are more expensive. David
Thanks for sharing this! How was the backing track for Prayer for the Unborn developed? Was that done with the Virus and recorded on the playback system!
What software is being used to split the midi keyboards up so different plugins and used across different keys? Plus any alternative programmes for running Setlists like this on Windows?
Hi Jack, I use Mainstage. It comes with Logic. It’s amazing. You set up each song in the set list with all the sounds and arrange them over your keyboards. You can mix several plug-ins or hardware synths and then save the settings to rearrange set lists. Does Logic/Mainstage work on PCs? I don’t know. You could get a similar effect with Cubase I guess. It just would be laid out in quite the same use-friendly way. DB
@@littlefinger3019 thank you so much for the reply! No unfortunately logic isn’t on PC :( but I have found an alternative called Gig Performer that im going to try that does a similar thing and if that fails I shall look at Cubase! Thank you!
This is just not so. Time and time again, Gary's team and Gary himself have confirmed: If it appears as if someone is singing or playing an instrument during a live performance, they are actually playing those instruments. The songs and what is played live is augmented by sometimes literally hundreds of noises and volumetric sound, but what is appears to be played live is actually being played. Some samples are also triggered by the playing of other actual sounds: like a bass drum kick might also trigger a sample to be played at the same time (this is controlled on a per song basis - likely using mainstage to load the sample trigger switches with the appropriate sampler and sounds.
