glad gary did this for rickey,....i was once ignorant about this too,...before internet back in the 80s/ 90s......i know have a huge admiration for rickey,.blackfoot was AWESOME,.....rickey is a super super nice person,...and a super talent.
Rickey is a major part of the history of Lynyrd Skynyrd then and now. Skynyrd evolved from the beginning until 77. Then from 87 until now but the music and the spirit of Lynyrd Skynyrd has stayed true.
Love That Gary , Cared About The ACTUAL TRUTH, ENUFF TO SET "The Record Straight!!😏 Also, Lookin Out For His Skynyrd Brother!!.. Even To His Last Breath!! 😒
Even though I have only been listening too and attending the shows of this band since 1974 I feel as if I am an original band member too. it's been a long winding road we have traveled together
awesome Ricky!!!! Right from Gary!!!!! You know Ricky, people always want to try to belittle people.. Only way they can make themselves look better is by putting other people down. NEVER LET THESE minions out there get in your head. Your 110% Skynrd through and though. Have a great week brother!!!
Ricky was there and Ronnie love to listen to shorty. Jacksonville was a tight group. Duane Allman taught Don Felder slide and Don taught Tom Petty how to play guitar. Larry from 38 special was in Skynyrd for a while too. Skynyrd evolved almost every album for various reasons. I have said the music was greater than anyone member. Kind of like Mozart no one complains if he is not playing in the orchestra when his music is performed, Had Skynyrd not continued few today would be influenced enjoying the music.
Are you from Jacksonville??? I was born and raised there and my daddy was kind of well known..his name was Richie Richards...or Richie Roach. You ever heard that name
Great comparison with Mozart. Never could understand the animosity directed to those that keep LS music alive. Just enjoy the songs you love. Thx Johnny for your great respect and humble attitude. A credit to you and Rickey. We will all miss Gary but keep the music going. Ronnie would be PROUD
Rickey was in the band then drumming. On the album called Skynyrds first and last . There is a song on this album that Rickey wrote and sang called seasons. It’s one incredible tune, it’s beautiful and timeless. Anybody would never know what era it’s from. It’s one of my favorite songs of all time. I absolutely love 💕 it. It’s a hellova piece of work from Rickey and the guys in skynyrd . If you haven’t heard it, then give it a listen 🎧 Little on the mellow side but it’s still a awesome classic✨✨ 🌤🌪⛈🌈☃️☔️☀️❄️💦🌸🪐he also wrote and sang white dove 🕊 which is great. Greg walker is also on this album playing bass (bass for Blackfoot to).
I know this, and have gotten into a many arguments about Ricky being in the band at the beginning and the Curtis Lowe song being about Ricky`s Grandfather. I have know this since I bought the album First and Last in like 80 or 81. The worst fights have over the Curtis Lowe song. People are so close minded and thick headed. ha
@@johnsmith-ug5tp Rossington Collins band was the best and closest to the original skynyrd without Ronnie and Artimus that I was blessed to see. I appreciated that they were trying to do another original project and that first album was awesome with Dale Krantz. you are correct though, when Ronnie died so did LS ..... I wasn't aware of the jealousy Allen had for Steve.. I thought they worked great together on stage.. even better than Allen with Gary .... all three guitarists during that time were amazing though and it is truly sad how the world was robbed of whatever future work could have been created.
Rivky is on first and last album and if you watch. The autobiography if i leave here tomorrow Ricky is on there. Saying he was in the band. Felt time wasnt right. Now he feels its right
Anybody who knows the history of this band knows this. God bless Rickey and Gary may you RIP but somehow since almost the whole band is together that probably won’t be possible. Your brothers and sisters have been waiting for you. 😊
I have no way of contacting Rickie other than a platform like this and all I really wanted to tell him is that he is a monster musician and sadly the HOF is becoming a joke. I was lucky enough to see Blackfoot back in the early 80's and those guys were tight, epically tight. Medlocke can sing something fierce and has that immediately recognizable timbre. One of my all time favorite albums is Highway Song Live recorded in the UK. It needs to be remastered and reissued. Props to you Rickie Medlocke.
@@johnu2117 too cool! I saw him with Blackfoot back in the mid 80's, they opened for Molly Hatchet. Blackfoot just killed it! I've always loved Southern Rock even tho I'm a U.P. of Michigan boy.
People need to just stop hating on Rickey! As Gary said, Rickey WAS an original, he's now the ONLY "original" left. He's a good drummer, singer and Guitar player.
Sometimes it's not so much about who was there since the very beginning. It's about the impact someone had. I mean, they had musicans before him. However, no one came close to him
RIP Gary. Yeah I don't get the BS against Ricky. Obviously if you follow the band you can see he was there from the beginning and was a lifelong friend of all the bandmates. Ricky stepped up in a tough role and has played his heart out for us fans for years. Gary also endured so much crap for continuing with "HIS BAND". Gary, Bob & Larry had already started and then Ronnie joined. Gary had every right to continue Skynyrd and play the music he created with Allen, Ed & Steve (RIP to them all) We were privileged to hear this great music live for many years. What a shame if Gary hadn't picked up the torch and forged on. People like Gene Odom & Judy Van Zant should go sit down and be quiet. Neither one of them had anything to do with the great music these men made. RIP Gary, Ronnie, Allen, Bob, Billy, Ed, Steve, Leon, Cassie, Dean
