Had the same problem, fan running on high all of the time. Tech said I needed a new control board, backordered for at least a month. Reading through the installer's setup instructions for the Honeywell TH8000 thermostat, I noticed the ability to do a system reset back to the factory settings. Did this and the system has been behaving itself for three days now. Also found AAA batteries corroded and dead inside thermostat, so cleaned the contacts and replaced the batteries with fresh ones. Give these things a try first.
Steve, without a doubt you have the best HVAC channel on RU-vid! There are many good channels, some may be more technical, but for everything, yours is the best. Your singing...don't go on America's got talent. LOL!
Yah one day my fan kept running other than that system was fine- when stat called heat came on and when stat was satisfied heat shut off but fan kept running no matter what. I read a bit then removed fan limit switch and cleaned it off, inserted it (one screw) and the system has been running fine ever since. Before I did a thing I called several different HVAC folks and quotes ranged from 450 bucks to a grand. Difficult to find anyone willing to do the small stuff diagnostic first. Same as auto mechanic. Auto parts sells replacement radiator peacock for 4.99 but garages want to replace the entire radiator and absolutely will not replace just the peacock and estimates Ranged from 800 to 1300
My Fan would stay on for a day or 2 after any power outage.. found out my green and red wires were slightly touching on one little part… separated them… fixed!! drove me nuts for the longest time.
Thanks for video Steven. Just got back from having my 17.5 yr old cat put down. Had a stroke and back legs stopped working. He was fine an hour before when I took a nap. As with baby dog, life changes in a heart beat.
I just changed out my goodman because the last 2 or 3 years in the middle of winter I would have to replace the board or pres. switch would go bad. It was almost 20 years old, I have it in my garage now.
I played the “tap on the stuck relay” game with my control board for 8 years or so. It was nice to save the money, but nicer to finally get the board replaced.
@@kevinfinnerty3754 2010 my hvac student friend changed limit switch Did not remove some sort of TAB Burnt out new control board….had to buy 2…>$100 these days… 12 years I have been dealing with limit switch sticking here and there. 1990 york stellar plus…. ‘This is what one does after rip offs from 2 plus local repairmen…thru the years…
grapes and raisins. Grapes and raisins are veritable poison for dogs. After eating the sweet fruits, dogs may react with vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps and tremors. At high doses, the intake can cause kidney failure and even be fatal. Hello steven please take care of miss molly. she is a beautiful dog. Happy New Year
Hmmm. I was almost thinking at first it would have been one of the safeties, or limits, something on the 24v side. But being that only the indoor blower and not the induced blower running the board makes sense. Good catch my friend.
Yeah let's put the brain's of the furnace(a circuit board) in the blower compartment where it is subject to vibration, dust and possible static electricity!!
With that Goodman gas furnace known for heat exchanger failures the family has plenty of carbon monoxide detectors with those Canary's lol. The undersized return opening I would say not a good thing as well as dirty air filter = Heat Exchanger killer lol.
hello Steven I enjoyed your video, but I must say please do not give Molly any raise ns they are deadly to any puppy, i have a friend who did the same thing and her pup almost died it becme very ill, and the pup almost died....and it cost a small fortune to get her help........take care thanks for sharing.........happy new year.....
Steve, my furnace fan speed is set to low for cooling. I have a Rheem 2.5-4 [1000cfm to 1600cfm] ton system. The technician said since AC is 2.5 ton, blower should be set to low. We tried Med Low but it doesn't dehumidify like it should.... anything higher, it doesn't even cool... and the differential is way off. Heat speed is set to Med. Low.
The board is 20 years old. The capacitors will have dried up and gone high resistance. May also have a stuck relay. This is going to happen to any board that old, I dont care what make it is.
What I’ve learned where to start on was if fan runs and nothing else on a call for heat check rollouts or limits but that’s newer furnaces not always the case but a good starting point
Hi, I have a question my Thermostat works but it do not stay at my set point if i set to a temperature like 80 it will start a/c but bring the house temp to 74 or 72-- A/c start & shutdown but not at my preset temp--I changed Programmable thermostat to Manual Round Honeywell but same --I cleaned the control board at furnace where there was some water leak above furnace whole house dehumidifier-Please help
Jesus. You might wear a respirator with all those birds. Always love watching your channel because it means my furnace is like... spotless... in comparison. Just cleaned my flame sensor and changed the furnace filter before Christmas. I even shopvaced the return and fan. I change filter every month (just set an alarm on your phone).
Ditto on flame sensor…one video guy said EVERY TRIP he cleans the fame sensor, it is such a common problem…nice! That year furnace ran all winter no problems!
The dandruff from the birds do a number on the filter and furnace components. Shorts them out in due time. Air filter should be changed every 30days in that place.
How can some People Dislike a Knowledgeable Person and Video..Makes me Disgusted that people have No Life and dislike a Good Video.. They must really have No Life.
you da man mr. crusty grince! question tho, is the electrical legal? shouldn't that be in a box? non furnace man, just enjoy you, miss molly and videos
Birds are very sensitive to any level toxins in the air (Including gas; aerosol sprays etc...). A furnace room would be out of the question!! Plus, they need some daylight to thrive. Looks like a bird dungeon to me. The HO needs an educational adjustment visit from a humane society. Amazing how people neglect HVAC equipment and then complain about repair costs.
May the " Birds" of Paradise fly up your nose ... Lol ... Bic pens will be your next sponsor ... Good vid Stevie boy ... Miss Molly looking good after surgery ...
What an uninformed bird owner! My Sister has a large bird & they told her NOT to have them in the kitchen or near the gas burners. Also ... no exposure to Teflon pan use!! Could be fatal!! This Lady is not a good bird parent! Too many! M
I've on your videos all day. New subscriber here. I have an issue that started a few weeks ago. My came on by itself and stay on for hours then just turned off. Read it might be a filter so I changed them both. Fast forward to today and I had my ac running and it blew cold for hours but when I went to turn it off it stayed running but with cold air just room temperature air. The condenser isn't running, but then when I tried to turn the ac back on the condenser didnt come on again. Any ideas
i changed the thermostat and the fan began to run all the time under any setting off or on.... then i put the old thermostat back and pulled the cover off the base and it does the same thing fan still comes on... i checked the limit switch, roll out switch and pressure switch with the multimeter and it read 0.00 not "OL" ( except the pressure switch reads "OL" which is normal i understand) then i used a jumper wire to connect the wires to each switch directly but the fan still comes on.... then pulled off the G and R thermostat wires from the board completely and the fan still ran , NOW im runing out of options
Are you STILL doing your Fix-it Videos bro? I am REPLACING a BAD GAS VALVE. I've looked up the specs and the tests on it. 24V Across the GAS VALVE, but it won't OPEN. The IGNITER is NEW: the Flame Sensor has been carefully cleaned. I have dusted and vaccumed out the vents and the ENTIRE Vent SYSTEM. I get the code 34. it HAS to be the Gas Valve, right my Professional Brother of 30+ years? Please ADVISE me. The IDB is in GOOD shape, The Thermostat is a Digital Honeywell. This Furnace BREATHES from three PVC Pipes that run to the outside of my house. If you're STILL doing Videos bro, please, PLEASE advise ME!!! LOVE your SHOW!!! you keep it GANGSTA!!
