You fix it by replacing the part that is bad...you have to check it first before you replace...he is showing you how to check resistance...if you want to learn how to drop a fuel tank go watch a video on that. Just the fact hes taking the time out of his day to show you guys for free is awesome in itself...some of you guys act like ungrateful children who were never taught to show appreciation for someone sharing knowledge and time. Thank you for this video. Ever since my husband passed. I have had small thing's needing fixed. I got in the car tonight, it showed it was empty. I have a dummy signal to let me know when it is low on gasoline. I thought oh my someone took my gas out after filling it up 80.00 bucks. Got to the store turned it off. When I got back in it showed 3/4 of a tank. I am so glad you Technician know your stuff. My husband was a Tech. As well. Have a great week 😀.

Oz so I have a 2007 chevy suburban z71 and im having the same issue with the float not reading the gas correctly. The fuel pump is new and the fluctuation is so off its frustrating.

Excellent. Sometimes when I fill the tank the sending unit seems to hang up in the full position. It happened today. The needle did not start to drop until about 100 miles. It's a 2006 Matrix with 210,000 miles. What's weird is it only happens like every 6 months, otherwise it's s fine. It also seems to act up if tank is slightly overfilled.

last week we filled up with gas and the hand barely moved until a few minutes after and this week it randomly cut off while driving we coasted over and it cranked right back up. does that sound related?

Good advice...for someone who's having trouble with that make and model vehicle, a specification in the video's title would have saved some people the time wasted watching something that dies not relate to them.

I have this issue on my Honda Fit hybrid. The gauge will never rise especially when I fuel after using the reserve fuel. It will mostly ONLY rise when I have refuled with 15L or above. It's so annoying....

Before I replaced the fuel pump on my 94 silverado c-1500 2wd 5.0 the gauge would go way past the full mark and it would run out as soon as it hit the red for reserve on gauge. Ok now I had to replace the fuel pump and now my gauge isn't working at all and my headlights will go to flashing at times. Any ideas?? Thanks for any help!!

Before you replace the sensor put some Chevron Techron in the gas tank. It cleaned my senor and made it work right. My Ford dealer recomended that before I spend $1200 to replace the fuel pump. $10 at the autoparts. I have replaced a fule pump/sensor on another truck and the gage never read right again. Sensors come with different resistance ranges and they have to match the gage. What he did not say is that you need to know the max and min ohms on the sensor and buy a matching sensor. Otherwise your gage will read really off.

If other gages have problems too, you may have an electrical problem like a bad electrical connector or voltage regulator or bad battery. When my battery starts to go bad on my Explorer Sport Trac stange things happen. The alarm system goes off or the radio changes stations.

I have a 2010 9.3 2.0T. My battery died and replaced it with a new battery and now my fuel gauge shows empty. If I release the fuel pressure on the schrader valve, the fuel reads correctly for about 30 seconds then shows empty again. Do you think its the fuel sensor, fuel filter, or posibalty something else. ? Thank you for your help

My 03 Impala used to get at least 650kilometers to a full tank and ever since the engine misfires from my backyard machanic friend wiring my spark plugs wrong its been very off. Had the spark plugs corrected and my exhaust issue fixed since I recorded this milage. Does it burn more fuel while doing this? Do I still get the same milage? I'm scared to drive until it's empty you know lol

E=IR As the resistance changes, the current value varies. If gauge uses a rheostat in the circuit it changes the R value not the voltage. Good video

Try a bit of Marine outboard two cycle TCW3 oil in the gasoline. It may start the sensor from sticking1 oz per five gallons of gasoline. It’s burns ash less so need to worry about converters or sensors. Toss it in and just drive. The marine oil will lubricant. I’ve been doing it for years with no problems just runs smoother at idle and cleans injector and lubricants like Lucas fuel conditioners but cheaper

Oz you are good guys. I had problem develop 2005 Park Ave where fuel gauge would swing between empty and full with tank about 1/4 full. Believe sender bad. Bought new ac delco made for supercharged3800 and everything ok until first refill. Gauge stuck at full. I am thinking stuck float? I have Ultra with driver info shows gal used and mi per gal. That reads accurate. Would disconnecting battery do anything. Hate idea of forcing new warranty exchange. I walked in part so I guessing I get stuck on2nd labor

any time there is a problem with fuel gauge i always check and add a new ground engine to body wire aleast 10ga. and cleane off paint. and disconect fuel pump connection reatach.

Thanks for the video, though I'm not sure if this is the problem. Can you think of any reason why the gas gauge would fail on an 05 impala immediately after a rebuilt transmission and rear brakes? I paid a mechanic for this work and ended up turning around because of a grinding noise. It ended up that they left some clips loose related to the parking brake. I don't know how any of these could cause the gas gauge to fail but it's been on empty since I left the place. Any insight would be appreciated. Please and thank you.

done same thing last week, put it about five gals in tank barely moved, 3 days later drop another 5 gals, moves a little , hrs later randomly went to full, rode like hell and it's slowly going down, I KNOW I'm not getting that kind of mpg something s definitely wrong lol!!!!!
