Gas Leak Main Line - VOLUNTEERS DUTCH FIREFIGHTERS - (Part 1) REACTION!

That was my job here in the UK, finding gas leaks , that one sounds like a medium pressure main , I remember one , I was sat on the main putting a clamp around the main and the gas was rippling my clothes , I did one once with a bag in one side and two in the other to save time because it was freezing but I managed to pull it of , I did one outside someone's house and a woman came out to complain about the noise I hammered a wooden stake into the plastic main , I did it for 38 years outside sometimes -10 c for 26 hours , thank Evans I'm retired now after dealing with many escapes but never involved the firefighters they just get in the way .👍😎 Ps : LEL is lower explosive limit 0 - 5 % , 5 - 15 % is the explosive limit above 15% is burn for natural gas .

Gas escapes became second nature to me , I worked at a house the woman had gone to the pub because of the smell of gas , so I smashed the living room window and the TV went bouncing round the room checked the pipework in the cellar old but ok , checked outside found that when they laid the service the mole had severed a electric cable and melted the plastic pipe but I didn't know at first and I was touching the bare wires , the next day the cable shorted in the rain and set on fire .😂

We were gas working on a street and we had a team of contractors further down , a local delivery driver pulled up and forgot to apply his handbrake the van rolled down snapping off the gas stops in to the hole resting on 2 guys, their lips were turning blue , we had to pass them breathing apparatus and pull the van off them .

We had been doing escapes all night, arrived at a house 10:30 am the OAP woman was sat on the sofa in her dressing gown, she had phoned at 18;30 pm they told her to turn the gas off and open all the windows and doors , it was freezing. I put her in my van with the heater on and a cup of tea . The escape was on a corroded steel riser under the kitchen window the gas was escaping up through the open window into the house i put her a new service pipe in and ordered her appliances to be turned back on again ASAP .

That must have been an E-bike or something they can go so fast!

Another one arrived on site 30 flats full of gas , phoned supervisor, leave the people in the flats I've no where to put them so I ordered a digger, my mate hadn't arrived he was still walking his dog , my mate digger and supervisor arrived on digging out the main the digger was pulling on a electric cable we were all going no no then the gas exploded and there was a crimson flame all around, the supervisor said ho no paperwork, so I told my mate to get the fire extinguisher, I said what fire lol he then said go on then repair the pipe my mate and I looked at eachother and said we are not going in there so he grabbed the tool and started the repair , me and my mate were just stood there laughing.

It’s 2 AM the fear is gone 😅
