I'm heading out from Canada to Mississippi in this '64 gasser and just when I thought everything was dialed, once again, she has to have the last word. At least this I got this great fan from my buddies over at Delta P.A.G. today to keep the car cool while everything is falling apart...

Hello Danny I enjoy watching your channel immensely. I'm amazed at your mechanical skills.For the little Nova with the built 327 you may be asking too much how it to perform on the street.With a tunnel ram,high duration can and high gears its going to take much to get it going.The tunnel ram doesn't come on much till after 3500 rpm as well as your cam.A good alternative would be to install a GM 700 r4 transmission transmission

Dan may I suggest buying a Harbor Freight transmission jack? I have one that operates like a scissor lift and uses a half inch drive ratchet or impact to raise and lower. I have a 8.75 rearend in our 1969 Dodge Charger and I have changed the center section a few times using it. Way easier than using a floor jack and you can do it all by yourself. Just trying to help and save you some hassle while it is in the car.

Hey Dan, hope the trip goes smoothly. I recon a 3.50:1 ratio would be a good compromise on long trips, but a 4.71:1 or 4:86:1 would provide wild acceleration & a good hook-up. Cheers. Leigh.

Dan, never think you need to offer any apologies for mistakes. You already have that disclaimer at the start of every video. I had an AC Delco alternator fail on me earlier this year. It had just over 100 miles on it, bearings started making racket and it stopped charging. AC Delco used to mean something.

Gotta say Dani was 100% on the diff Re and Re. I don't see how that could have gone smoother... As for the alt, I feel your pain. Every road trip problem I've had seems to include alternator issues. I also carry a spare as a matter of course, and it has saved me more than once. Have a safe trip!!

I never had a problem with air shocks, I had them on my first car. Granted I was 14, with a 64 ford galaxy, loved that car. Passed everything but a gas station.
@tonymorse7178
@tonymorse7178 11 месяцев назад
When you use one airline for your airshocks, when you have pressure on one side (corners) the pressured shock will push it's air into the other one. 2 lines eliminate that. Also, the older you get, the more noises you will make...😂

"Get the proper stuff and it just works" ......Truer words were never spoken. When larger spacers are needed 1/4 or 3/8 steel pipe or copper nipples cut to size with a flat washer are just the ticket. Might be a good idea to remove the two block plugs to get all the rust and junk out of the block before your trip. Have a safe trip.

3.00 and 4.56 could be a different posi/carrier? To correct gear spacing. Hmmm Convertor I'd think anything over 3500 will be an interesting drive on the street, but great at the track. They generate a TON of trans heat in traffic too. Ahhhh, memories of my 69 Chevelle. Rad set up is dialed! Gonna be a fun drive!

This car is a good example of why complaining about the base cars cost is pretty irrelevant. Once you've bolt on the straight axle kit, rear end, hot small block etc the grand or two people think you overpaid really pale in comparison.

Back in the sixties, we had to check headlight aiming as part of our state's mandatory safety inspection. We had a tool that attached to the headlights, with suction cups, and I think we adjusted them for one degree down and two degrees to the right. I often think about that when I'm staring into those irritating bright blue led headlights.

I’ve been building a 99 Sonoma for the last 6 months and before I started I told myself “ no deadline “ because you never know with part availability, couriers and work . And I’m no ace mechanic by any means so I’ve been taking my time . I feel it’s about 80% complete. I have the fuel system, cooling system and a little bit of wiring to do . Cheers Dan 🇨🇦

@Dan Those shocks are 90/10 70/30 and 50/50. Okay thanks for the clarification on the wheelwells...mini tubs may be in your future then. Once you go high stall you should add a 2 quart extra trans pan and a extra trans cooler plate style because they can take impact better. While its on my mind, a line -lock for racing. If you elevation is much higher than down south bring your jet kit. When your at Speedway get a PowerMaster Alt...they work great. Safe Travels!

AC DELCO I do not know what happened to their products, but I bought 3 sets of ignition points for my old tractor, and none of them functioned as they should so I put the old ones back in for now. Doesn't surprise me that your alternator gave out. I think they are just importing cheap Chinese junk.

Delta fans and Rads are the shit. I run them in every build, even my 700hp BBC Chevelle and it runs cool even in Texas 100 degree weather with AC running. Hey Dan, food for thought. Have you thought about using overload bags instead of air shocks? I use them in my drag and drive car but they do limit travel so I built brackets that bolt the whole bag assembly in making the install/removal, cake. Since you're not much for drags you could just build them permanent. Will work with just about every suspension type, and will keep the rear at ride height even heavily loaded down. Helps a lot when pulling a trailer as well. Its a little more fab but if you plan on running the car a bit its worth it IMO. Since you're planning on leaving it in the States over the winter and visiting it to work on it, you could make this an upgrade.

Great video Dude, but you know what would make it really awesome? Showing how you finally made the axles go in place. Some of the things you’re doing, I have never encountered so it would be cool to learn from somebody else’s experience; to actually see it go together. I don’t know how far south in MS you’re coming but if you get down to the coast area, I’ll be looking for you. Safe travels man! Man 1700kms. That's a long haul in that car. My cousin and I drove his 70 BB Chevelle SS from Cape Breton to Alberta (almost to Alberta🤣) in 2001. It was actually a great trip,,more comfortable than the 80 grand prix we drove from there to Cape Breton. Unfortunately the 396 broke #3 intake valve spring, just outside North Battleford. We trailered it to Edmonton from there. Popped the head off and the "Block Shop" in Edmonton repaired it (seat,guide,valve,spring,retainor) $70. Out the door. Just a little scuff in the piston. Sanded it down and bobs your uncle. He's had that car since 1988 it's got a hopped up 454 now
