The first part i think is the power and propultion element, and that launches November 2025

there is no way a lunar starship could be ready by the next launch or successfully make it to the moon. Im a SpaceX fan myself, but we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves. as fast as spacex moves, a lunar starship landing on the moon is still realistically a few year away, but im pretty sure they'll do it within this decade. also, gateway is essential for a permanent presence on the moon, but i guess it would be possible for a modified starship to replace it. it would definitely be cheaper, but gateway would probably be ready first, since gateway development is already well underway while there is no plans for a lunar-orbit starship station.

@@Pottery4Life i think adding another year or 2 to those dates is more realistic. especially for Dear Moon, since they would have to prove starship is completely reliable in all stages of the mission (especially landing)

@@Pottery4Lifeik, but that is more dangerous than artemis moon landings. hls starship just needs to land and get off the moon safely. for dear moon, itll have to launch, spend a week in deepspace, go through reentry, and do a propulsive landing. while the dearmoon starship will be simpler in terms of hardware/internal systems, spacex will need to prove they can launch, reenter, and propulsively land starship safely and reliably. tbh, i could see hls landing astronauts on the moon before the dearmoon mission.
