I just wanted to say thank you so much for putting these repair vids on here. I just rebuilt my fiancee's Gateway NE56R31u laptop. Needed a new palm rest and lower casing as both parts were badly cracked. Other than $50 in parts from ebay and thanks to your vids, I saved her $75 as we went to a technician that was going to charge her that amount just to drill a screw into it to hold it together. Once again, thank you
Glad I could help! It is my goal to help and show others out there how to fix things themselves. Sounds like you were able to buy the correct parts and fix the damaged laptop yourself. Congrats on that accomplishment! Thanks for watching my videos.
The CPU is underneath the motherboard. You can follow the copper looking tube near the fan on the bottom side of the motherboard. the copper tube will lead you directly to the CPU. Here is a picture from the second part of my reassembly video. imgur.com/LHs0daQ In red is the CPU, its under the plate with 4 screws. In yellow is the GPU, some motherboards have one some don't. Mine doesn't show a chip present, because the motherboard/laptop I have isn't equipped with a separate video card. Instead, it uses Intel's integrated graphics within the board. Some models will have an Nvidia chip in the place I marked in yellow.
Thank you! I have an NE56R41u that kept powering off randomly without warning. Monitored the CPU temp with Speccy and noticed it going up to around 90degC then shutting off. The fan wasn't going. Followed your excellent video to get all the way down to the fan and of course it somehow got disconnected from the motherboard. Works great now!! Thanks again!!!! :-)
+Gooberpeas2 Glad I could help! Although I removed the USB board in part 2 of this video. I'm glad you were able to figure it out! Pretty self explanatory after taking apart the palmrest.
That took care of it.. Once I got the battery out I powered up and reset defaults. Tricky part was even though I changed boot order still wouldnt boot to the ODD so I had to change boot from UEFI to Legacy and disable Secureboot. Did a bit of tinkering after I used the repair disk and then put it back to UEFI and the system started in repair mode. :) GREATLY appreciate your assist with the teardown.
thank you this is the clearest video I have found....Had to clean out the fan area/ heat thingie due to the fan running load. Will be replacing the fan soon because it costs less than $10.
I have 2 say I thank God for you and making this video I couldn't find a video that had talking in it lol how can you make a repair video with no audio walkthrough let alone any close ups of what we need to not break!! Only thing I damaged was the mic cable but I cleaned the fan which was Super Super clogged with dust now she sounds quiet and is nice and clean. I wanted to know how to take apart also to replace my DC charge port now I know how to do so. Thanks again bro for taking time to show the tear down And re assembly 👍👍👏👏
Got a NV79 series with the power switch on the right corner hinge center. Want to relocate it so its un a better place! One other thing you can do to keep the screws in the right places is similar to your idea, & thats to take some cardboard, draw a rough outline with spits marked for each screw, but push the screw into the cardboard so the head is sticking out a little - then less chance of them getting knocked over, mixed up, etc, especially if you have pets! Thanks 🤓 not sure if the power sw on your model would fit (creating a secure opening for it) would work
Many many thanx to u , i have Gateway ne56 core i3 laptop ,and its hinge was broken after 20 months use as it had very poor plastic body i saw this video and fix hinge problem myself , hinge screw had left the base of body but anyhow i managed to fix it , thx alot for this video :) poor english but hope u understand what i want to say
ok, when you turn on the laptop, and it asks for a password before it actually boots to the log in screen, you will need to remove the CMOS battery which is the silver battery found on the motherboard, you can see it in the video at 21:15 on the bottom left of the video, on the right side of the memory card slot. All you have to do is remove this battery and wait about 15-30 seconds and then put the battery back in and once the laptop is put together, use the bios to adjust the date and time.
Hey, So once I dropped my laptop and one of the corners cracked and that hinge has nothing to hold on to, so my laptop is really wobbly when open. I was planing to get a parts computer from ebay to swap the bottom cover. Do you have a video where you take everything out that I could reference? Or is there just a few steps that were not covered in this video to achieve that?
Thanks michael, Sorry for not replying as i am on an android and dont know how to do the same. I just want to ask that is it necessary to remove the ram.hdd and wireless card or can i just open the screws there and leave them be?thanks.
Great video, a bit shaky. I have one of these Gateways and need to change the cd-rom and upgrade the Hard Drive. thanks so much for this very helpful video. Keep up the good work.
+Phillip Hatcher Yeah, this was one of the videos I started out with. Camera was my phone, poor lighting, etc. but its improving. Could be a lot worse. Thanks for watching! and glad I could help!
Yes, the UEFI BIOS is a tricky one. A couple weeks ago I stumbled upon a problem where the laptop would boot but end up with a black screen, but the laptop was on, I could access the BIOS but that didn't help, LEGACY didn't help, and even trying the "refresh" windows 8 from the setup disk wouldn't work since booting from disk only works with LEGACY and it can't access the Windows 8 installation on UEFI, took a lot of tinkering to finally find a way to "refresh" windows 8 and get it working again
great video wished id watched it before taking my gateway nv77h19u fan replacement. now i need to replace my motherboard cause i broke the plastic connectors on the power board cable and the touch pad cable. my keyboard some keys do not respond do i need to replace the keyboard or clean it? thank you
+James Woltz Your laptop is a different model than the one I took apart in the video. So most steps wouldn't apply to yours, but some steps are similar. As far as having some keys respond and some don't, you'd most likely need to replace the keyboard.
+justin Butler Sadly no, graphics are dedicated. and other people have tried upgrading the CPU but had issues with the laptop shutting down after 30mins. Sounds like putting in another CPU with the same socket has compatibility issues.
Thanx bro for the video. I think Fan stop problem is manufacturer's fault for this model. Mine stooped working and i use an externan fan cooler while using..UUUHHH... Now i shall try n sort out, shall update on this soon.....
+MTTech i hv just opened the keyboard and tried to rotate the fan with pin but it was jammed. i blowed air in it with high speed blower and it started running. now its working. Thanx to you...
When I went to take out the chip between the hard drive and RAM, it was only screwed in one place and had a white connector cable as well. I'm reassembling now and I can't find a place for the white cable to comfortably rest, and I'm afraid it's being stray may cause the wiring to interfere with the circuitry, is there anywhere I can try to tape this cable down to to try and keep it in a safe, isolated spot on the top of the motherboard?
I'm assuming you already resolved the issue yourself, since I am replying this late, sorry about that. but I'm guessing you're saying that there are two wires; 1 black and 1 white that attach to the wireless card? I'm a bit confused, because you said that you were re-assembling the laptop, so that would mean you would have to connect both wires to the wireless card. there is another spot on the wireless card that looks exactly the same as the one for the black wire. in the video, the black wire is connected to the bottom plug of the wireless card, so the white wire that you're talking about would go on the top plug on the wireless card, hope this helps, and again sorry for the late reply, as i'm assuming you already solved the problem yourself.
Hi really helpful video, thanks! I was wondering if you could maybe upload a video that could show us how to replace the CPU for the Gateway NE56R31u ?
Awesome video, thanks so much. I have a slightly different problem with my NE 56R. my built-in Webcam is no longer functioning, in fact it is not even showing up as being connected. I have downloaded the latest drivers and everytime, my laptop says there is no webcam installed. I didn't drop the laptop or cause any issues like that, but perhaps it became unattached somehow, or just needs to be replaced. How do I open the top portion of the laptop to check? Thanks so much for your help! Mark
I have a question about the same model. Okay, so I found this laptop in my room that somebody else had and as of right now, the laptop does turn on, but after about 3 seconds, the fan turns off and then the laptop shuts down completely. I did plug it up one night to make sure it was fully charged and that isn’t the problem, what do you think it may be?
I apologize for the late reply. Check the RAM (Memory). 5:00 , if yours has two remove both put one in and try turning on the laptap. You'll have to try differnt combinations if you have two sticks of RAM. For example, RAM stick 1 in slot 1 slot 2 empty, RAM stick 1 in slot 2 slot 1 empty, RAM stick 2 in slot 1 slot 2 empty, RAM stick 2 in slot 2 slot 1 empty. If the laptop works with 1 stick of RAM, then try with both, RAM stick 1 in slot 1 and RAM stick 2 in slot 2, OR RAM stick 1 in slot 2 and RAM stick 2 in slot 1. If you have just one RAM stick like I do, try it in slot 1, then try it in slot 2. Also try with no RAM inserted. See what the laptop does.
+TGC Flaming Pretty much everything I removed, You have to pull the motherboard out of the laptop casing to get to the processor on the other side. HOWEVER, ***I DO NOT Recommend swapping the CPU on this laptop/motherboard. Other people have tried, but ran into issues where the laptop shuts down after 30mins. Although you are able to swap processors that fit the same socket, something is telling the computer to shut off in 30mins. Hey michel, My ne56r is about 3 years old now and its fan and heatsink has become blocked from inside causing overheating So is there a way to clean my laptop's fan and heatsink without taking apart the keyboard and stufff?
yes you can clean it from the outside. but there is no way you can fully clean the laptop without taking it apart. because you would take a can of compressed air and spray the air into the vents where the heat sink is. however doing so will just blow the dust somewhere within the laptop. and dust acts as a blanket trapping hot air in. so if I were you, I would recommend taking it apart, but be careful that you don't damage anything. Take your time and do it slowly. if you are afraid of taking it apart then the best way is just blow into the vent with your mouth or use compressed air in a can.
hi nice work do you know of any links for the Gateway ID47H disassembly? it is hard to take it apart knowing that it will never be same after that :-( I need to replace the battery and hard drive, it is very similar to this unit I saw instructions on a website that tells me I need to take the bottom plate first and then the keyboard that does not make sense. I would imagine taking the bottom plate would be enough?
hey! great video! but i'm having troubble with the keyboard.....since i have the NV56R14U model....my keyboard does not have those locks visible. It's practically stick to the top cover......do you know how can I remove it without forcing it? Thanks!!
+Luxie Daemon Looks like I missed this comment when you originally posted. The keyboard on this laptop is removed along with the top cover. Here's a video someone else made. The video shows a NV57 laptop. It should be similar enough to the NV56. Hope it helps. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yvCC0nNin4k.html
Just the function key (F2), turn off the laptop, and press the power button, when the "Gateway" logo comes up, repeatedly press the F2 key quickly. until the BIOS shows up.
OK, My sisters kids did a number on her... Her machine has win 8 on it. They screwed up windows... changed the boot order and locked out her BIOS and cant remember the password. So.. we cant change the boot order to get a recovery going for windows. Any ideas on how to clear the password (I tried pulling the battery and letting it sit).
+Nathan Stadler No, you'll have to replace the motherboard. However, the cable does stay in fairly well without the locking tab. As long as the laptop doesn't get moved around too much
I have this laptop (NE56R13u), and I'm on the verge of hard drive failure. Can you recommend an affordable replacement HD I can order online? I'm usually good with comparison shopping computer and tech devices, but when I shop on Newegg, etc., I'm having trouble figuring out which drives are compatible with this laptop (e.g. 7mm vs. 9.5mm, etc.), and which aren't. Thanks a lot.
Laptop hard drives, are 2.5" (2.5 inches). The mm just means the thickness(height) of the hard drive, because some are thinner than others. The hard drive that this laptop ships with is a 7mm drive. Now I'll assume that you are looking for just a regular hard disk drive for a good price? the one that comes with the NE56R13u is a 320GB hard drive. Keep in mind that when you do get the new drive, a simple swap of the old drive to the new drive won't work. You will need to re-install the operating system on the new drive. So basically Windows 7 that came with your laptop. Also backup any important data on the old drive, and make sure you have your product key, which is normally on the bottom of the laptop on a sticker. Answer the following questions so I can give you some recommendations as there are many features of a hard drive to look at. -Are there specific brands of hard drives that you prefer? -What storage capacity do you want? (160GB, 320GB, 500Gb, 720GB, 1TB) -What price range are you looking at? ($50-$115) The hardest part is getting the operating system installed on the new drive, and transferring important files from the old drive, onto the new one.
MTTech Thanks for answering my question, 8) This is a laptop that my kids use to play games (nothing too graphics-intensive, e.g. Minecraft, LOL, Terraria, etc.), watch RU-vid videos, etc., and do the occasional research for homework. So to answer your questions: - I don't need a high storage capacity (320GB is fine, possibly even 160GB is the price difference is significant), - I don't want to invest too much in the replacement HDD, so no real brand loyalty, as long as it's reliable. I probably will need some help with the new OS install. RE: inserting the new HD, is it just the reverse of what you showed in this video when you removed the HDD? Thanks again.
MTTech So for example, is this Seagate HD okay? (Seagate ST500LM021 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 2.5" Laptop Thin Hard Drive) www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822178573
***** Yes, that will work. and since it is 7200RPM it'll be faster than the one that came with the laptop which is 5400RPM. As far as how to install the drive, I do have a Re-Assembly video which you can find at the end of this disassembly video or in the description box. You will need to remove the mounting bracket from the old drive and install that onto the new drive. But, before you even do that, I want to let you know that because the Windows operating system is installed on the recovery partition of the current hard drive, there is no way to retrieve that data and burn it onto a black DVD. That said, you would need to order a Recovery DVD from Gateway which has the Original operating system that came with your laptop as well as the software. The DVD costs $19.95. Also, if you want to keep any data you have currently on your old hard drive, you may want to transfer it onto either an external hard drive or a flash drive. So please keep this all in mind before you order the new hard drive. I don't want you to order it and end up not being able to get Windows 7 back on it, as well as any data you wish to keep from the old drive. If you would like to move on with this, if you can, tell me what the SNID located on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop is, so I can check if Gateway has the recovery DVD in stock. I unfortunately don't have a Gateway recovery disk, so I won't be able to show you how to exactly re-install the operating system. But I can show you what important information I would backup, as well as how to remove and install the hard drive, including the mounting bracket part.
Can I turn this into a gaming laptop? If so, how much do you think it would cost for it to be able to run most games on high settings? I have the NE56R31u. Not sure if that really matters but put it there just in case. :)
It all depends on what kind of gaming you want to do. There is almost no way you can turn this laptop into a gaming laptop. only because the specific motherboard that it uses, along with the graphics/video card that's installed. Also, because it is a laptop there is little room to even add a higher quality video card if you could. I would recommend using a desktop computer for gaming, because you can always upgrade it with a higher quality video card. This laptop is able to run some games that don't require too much power, such as Minecraft, League of Legends, etc.
Hi, was wondering if you could show how to replace the charging port? or show how to get to that part? The one on my NE56R48U is loose and I would like to fix it before it gives out for good.
I have a problem when i assemble again my laptop, my touchpad doesnt work. I think i connect the cables properly and still doesnt work. What should I do? I hope you can help me. My laptop is Acer Aspire E1-471. Thanks
+Keanu Corea At 16:02 Check that small ribbon cable the connects into the motherboard. Also, check the other end of that same cable that's connected to the touchpad itself. Sometimes the other end can become disconnected. If the touchpad still doesn't work, use a USB external mouse, and make sure the drivers for the touchpad mouse are installed.
while cleaning under keys the spacebar came off and I cannot get it back on. I've watched numerous tutorials but haven't found one identical to mine. I have a Gateway NE56R31u. Can you show how to do this? there are 2 sets of black hinges that are the problem. thanks
looking at replacing keypad. after upgrading from W 8 to W 10 it crashed, replaced with W 7 (because someone discarded the W 8 startup disk W 7 was quickest option) found this notation. Note: Please note that the logo on the windows key is windows7 version, and please make sure you can accept it before you bid. If you need a window8 version please click the below weblink: The keyboard of Win 8 version. operational difference or attachment?
Keyboards shouldn't matter. As long as the layout of the keys are the same and the ribbon connector for the keyboard are the same, it will work. From the description you've given me, the differences is just windows logo on the Windows button. Windows 7 logo is a circle with a curvy/wavy windows logo in the center. The Windows 8/10 logo is basically a square/rectangle. Here's a picture. techjailbreak.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/Windows-8-Vs-Windows-7.jpg If you want, show me the link of the keyboard you're trying to buy.
+Akshat Nayak Yes you can. There are no screws to take out for the keyboard. Just use a flat screwdriver and push in the tabs at the top of the keyboard like in the video.
My audio port of my Gateway NE56R31U went out today...an It sucks cause I mainly use it for Netflix an RU-vid..Any recommended audio ports for this computer so if I take it apart I wont harm my laptop an be forced to buy a new one?
Unfortunately, I was unable to find replacement Audio Jack parts online for this laptop. However, You can still purchase a USB sound card, where you can connect your headphones for sound. Both BestBuy and Amazon have it. www.bestbuy.com/site/sound-blaster-x-fi-go-pro-external-usb-sound-card/1173369.p?id=1218230515852&skuId=1173369&st=categoryid$abcat0507003&cp=1&lp=1 www.amazon.com/Creative-Soundblaster-Audio-System-SB1290/dp/B0044DEDC0/ref=pd_sxp_grid_pt_0_1 Videos about this USB sound card: ru-vid.com?search_query=Creative%20-%20Sound%20Blaster%20X-Fi%20Go&sm=3
Ya, that's what I was already looking towards..I heard it's alot better an easier to use an wont cause alot of damage to your USB slot or your headsets. Plus it's cheaper an easier to replace.
I have this laptop but when I connect it to charge nothing lights up or anything happens. I have no idea what happened. When I plug in the charger the power jack wiggles so I'm not sure if its that or if my motherboard, cpu, or something else is fried
Oh no. Seems like the power jack might be the problem. However, this is not a guarantee that replacing this part will fix your problem. It is worth a shot though, since the part is between $5-$15 on Amazon or Ebay. Search for "gateway ne56r power jack" and if you can type in the exact model number (ex. ne56r13u, ne56r27u, etc.) Here is a video of me removing the power jack: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LPe4R3fL6x8.html
MTTech Sweet thanks for the help. I got this laptop for like $25 because it wasnt working and I like to fix things up and sell them for more since I'm only 14 I dont have a job lol. So i watched your video where you took off the keyboard and noticed that the motherboard was sticky so there might have water on it so that might also be the problem.
Its great that you like to fix up electronics. Even if it still doesn't work in the end, you'll still learn something new. The sticky motherboard can be a possibility. You can use Isopropyl Alcohol (Rubbing Alcohol) with a cotton swab to clean the motherboard. Also double check the basic stuff. Does the power adapter work? Can you plug it into a different laptop? Try removing the battery from the laptop and plug in the charger. Does the laptop turn on? If these basic solutions don't work. Then it will take some more troubleshooting to determine the problem. In this case it is either the motherboard, or the power jack. You can also use a multimeter to test the power adapter, and/or the power jack to see if it is receiving any power.
Actually, these Gateway models don't heat up as bad as the other laptops I had. with heavy use it does get warm on the bottom, but not hot. also the left side of the laptop has a large vent so the fan can blow out the warm/hot air. compared to HP laptops that i've experienced, these Gateway NE56R series laptops stay relatively cooler than the HP laptops and Dell laptops that I've used.
MTTech Really only 8gb? I think that's odd because I'm running (and using) 12gb of ram in mine now. Granted, I have mis-matched sticks- 4gb and 8gb but I plan to swap the 4gb for another 8gb stick, for a max of 16gb... which is the max supported ram on this model. That's been my experience, however. EDIT: I should specify I've got the NE56R31u. It's a laptop I'm no longer using as I just got an Asus Q551LN, but I'm looking at what all I can upgrade in the old laptop for my kids to use or just to have a backup. I've upgraded the ram and hdd to ssd, looking to see if I can upgrade the cpu. What I've seen so far says yes, but I'm trying to confirm that before I buy one.
22:38 Why is he removing these screws? They seem to be just holding the ports on the mobo 23:26 It seems this is the only screw that actually holds the mobo on the chassis.
Hey dude, thanks for the video! btw do you think these speakers www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-P305/big/take-apart-notebook-19.jpg could fit in there? I dont want to open my laptop unless am sure I can change them for those. You probably saw how much space is in there, I coulnt in the video(no offense). If they could fit, can the mother board support them?
Hi, those speakers would definitely not fit in there due to how large the speakers are. Plus, even if they could fit in there, the cables would have to fit the ones on the motherboard as well. If you watch this video I made, where I take out the power jack from the laptop, I had to remove the speakers as well, and you can definitely tell there won't be enough room. Gateway NE56R/Acer Aspire E1 Series - Power Jack (Disassembly)
Thanks for the instant reply! I hadnt seen that video, the size is noticeble in this one! thanks a lot dude! saved me from making a mess! maybe I´ll try to make them portable speakers o something, instead of having them pick up dust!
Check the ribbon cables. Touchpad cable, as well as the keyboard cable. Touchpad cable has two ends (one plugs into the touchpad, the other into the motherboard).
@@MTTech I am amazed with your fast reply thanks for your time but i dont think there is any problem, it's proper fit from both sides, touchpad cabel which is connected to motherboard is fully covered and other cabel i just plugin , it's good , keyboard is working properly but touchpad is not working at all, let me know is there any way you can help me out
thanks for the great video to bad I looked for it after I screwed it up! Nothing a decent instructional couldn't help. I know I had to have a can of air to blow out all the crap from my kids laptop.
hmm..interesting, most likely the hard drive cable is loose, or the boot priority in the BIOS is messed up, or a failed hard drive. let me do a little research using my laptop, and if necessary, i'll make a video.
Ok, the only thing that I can think of that would cause that problem is either a bad/failed hard drive, or a bad connection with the hard drive. go to 6:45 in the video and watch how to take the hard drive out, then after you take it out put it back in. and try turning on your laptop again. if it works, great! if it still has the "No bootable device" message. then you may want to return/exchange the laptop if it's new. Or replace the hard drive. You didn't specify if the laptop was brand new or not.

+Davin Chamberlain Unfortunately do not. If I ever get my hands on one I would definitely make a video. Instead, have you checked out any of these videos that others have made? Perhaps one of them is the same model as yours. ru-vid.com?search_query=dell+inspiron+15+teardown
Joshua Sequoyah Nope, the NE56R series laptops only have 2 slots (as shown in the video around 5:26). Unless you have a different model, then feel free to let me know.
curtis hastings Sorry, I don't. Those stickers are extremely hard to find. Laptops get those stickers from the manufacturer. However, I highly doubt they would have the correct sticker anyway since these laptops are no longer being manufactured.
what a pita i just wanna clean the heatsink and reapply new thermal past aka arctic silver 5 man i dunno if i wanna go through with this now not really worth unless mines really overheating, some of the older laptops were soo much more easier to service, i remember one you only had to remove the keyboard to gain complete access to the cpu/ram/heatsink, but now a days it's the price we pay as consumers obsessed with thinner lower profile, and lighter laptops....sighs...
Yup, that is so true. Older laptops not only were easier to service, but everything was pretty much held together by screws. Now, laptops are held by cheap plastic clips that break easily. and screwing any of the screws too tight will break the plastic where the screw screws into. I agree, I wouldn't replace the thermal paste unless you're having constant overheating issues. Usually dust is the culprit, but in extreme cases its the heatsink with the thermal paste.
Get into the BIOS. When the computer is on, go to the start menu hold down the "shift" key and click restart. Go to "troubleshoot", "advanced options", "UEFI firmware settings". Somewhere in this menu (BIOS) will mention Intel VT. Change this setting to "Enable"
I agree. So far, I've only found Dell and HP that have service manuals available. Everyone else doesn't. Guess its their way to force people to send it to them for repairs or to computer repair shops.
+prathamesh mogaveer What do you mean by keyboard is "jammed automatically"? Are you saying the keys are stuck? or the keys will not type? For the display, do the lights and fan turn on while the display is off?
+MTTech can you show us how to fix the keyboard when your keys get jammed or stuck cuz I'm an inspired blogger an I need my laptop asap n my sound stop working can you please help
Rolita Toliver I could, but you would need to explain in detail what you mean by jammed/stuck keys? Do the keys not go down? Are they stuck down? Or do they not type? What specific model laptop do you have?
That is done in the BIOS/UEFI Firmware settings. You can ge there byright clicking the start button, hold the shift key, restart. One of the menus will be UEFI Firmware. I don't know the specific menu within the BIOS/UEFI Firmware Settings as I don't have this laptop with me. I will be able to check this weekend.

Aayush peace Well, this laptop is not made for gaming. It's a budget laptop. Which can handle Minecraft on low graphics, but anything else beyond that, the laptop will struggle. Simple solution would be to get a new laptop that has better specs, or build a PC that can handle such games with a graphics card. this laptop only has a built in graphics h nce why it struggles.
Thanks michael, Sorry for not replying as i am on an android and dont know how to do the same. I just want to ask that is it necessary to remove the ram.hdd and wireless card or can i just open the screws there and leave them be?thanks.
Since you are only going to clean the dust out of the laptop, there I no need need to remove the Ram, HDD, and Wireless card. you will inky need to remove the screws that are located next those parts. Because some of the screws gold down the palm rest on the other side of the laptop.
The CPU is underneath the motherboard. You can follow the copper looking tube near the fan on the bottom side of the motherboard. the copper tube will lead you directly to the CPU. Some models will have an Nvidia chip in the place I marked in yellow.
Luke Skywalker Sadly no. The keyboard must be removed in order to get access to the screws that hold down the palm rest. The palm rest has to be removed to get access to the motherboard.
