I'm 75 years old and been a Roy Orbison fan since I was 10. I found this beautiful song on RU-vid last month and was shocked that I never heard it before. Now I play it every day.
The many hits the Gibb Brothers wrote for so many artists, Barbra Streisand, Dionne Warwick, Celine Dion to namea few not to mention their own big hits.

Carol... I agree... he had a voice that could make you cry just because of the purity of it.... I was fortunate enough to see him live twice before he passed.... I am 50.. and he was popular way before my time.. but I love him...
By the end of the song, I remain impressed with Roy's voice range. Roy usually performs standing stark still. This is the most be-boppin' I have ever seen him do.

Roy's voice is overpowering, even when he is in the background, you can hear his voice above all others. He barely opens his mouth and shows no effort or strain while singing, but has such a powerful voice! I wonder if he could sing even louder if he wanted to. He really is rock's opera singer!

Yep, just like literally any song by Roy, Bee Gees, Barry, Robin, Maurice and Andy!(I haven't heard any song by Gatlin brothers, but I bet their songs are as well!)
I was told the story of when at the 1982 Grammys - the year Barry sang the duet with Barbara Streisand - later than night the Gatlin Bros went to Barry Gibbs's suite at the NY Hilton and they sat around singing old Bee Gee/Gatlin songs and others oldies. Rudy Gatlin missed being there as he had taken a friend to dinner. This was the initial connection. Then around 1984 Larry went to Barry's place in Florida where they wrote Indian Summer together. When singing one of the lines Barry commented, "this would be a great song for Roy Orbison". Larry said, "well let's call him, I've got his number!". And the rest is history - and this amazing video with some of the best voices ever recorded, and a beautifully written song by Barry Gibb and Larry Gatlin. With nearly 6 million views, I think many agree.

I am a old 74 year old man I found this song about two weeks ago. I can’t believe I’ve never heard before. What a song with Roy Orbison singing Etta with the Gatlin Brothers and Barry Gibb. It should be released as a single absolutely amazing track I play it every day. Now my wife is getting lead off when me playing it all the time. LOL
I've always loved listening to this performance. But seeing the four guys singing with Roy adds another layer of beauty. I love it when Larry Gatlin turns and puts his hands on the shoulders of Barry and Roy! OMG!!! Five hyper-talented men all in perfect harmony! Truly a Tour de Force performance! BRAVISSIMO!!!
Barry Gibb is so classy... even though he can reach the harmonies that Roy does beautifully, he backs off and let's other singers shine... that is class!

I've just begun to rediscover the BeeGee music. So, many ive never heard before to include this one. What a talented group. Wonderful, soulful, delightfully original. Barry always looks so happy, smiles. He and his brothers have a legacy of great and meaningful classics. Alone, I will...So many too count. Thank you for bringing this out again 40 years later. Still relevant and wonderful.
I'm 70. This was my generations' music. And I've never heard this song before. I don't know how I missed it, but I can't stop playing it, it's so beautiful words cannot describe the feeling of euphoria I get when I listen to it ~
Barry Gibb is humble and very kind. But having written over 1000 songs for some of the most famous singers in the world, as well as having a career spanning 65 years, it seems a bit strange to say Barry Gibb was star struck by Larry Gatlin. Maybe he was just having a great time working with fellow artists. Same goes for his new album Greenfields. He has said he really enjoyed working w/country artists that he admires. That doesn't make him "Star struck." No one loves the BeeGees more than I do. But, I don't assume that I know what they r thinking or claim to know everything about them.

I am sure that he was. He was singing with Roy Orbison, one of his vocal idol's . I would bet that they were all a little bit in awe of being in the presence of and listening to Roy sing live and right next to them. At least I would have been.
@@solepropt I've never heard Barry Gibb saying that Roy Orbison was one of his idols. The brothers said they liked the every brothers & Bb King, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rodgers, Michael Jackson. I can't think of any interview, or any documentary I've ever seen where any of the Gibb Brothers said Roy Orbison was an idol of theirs.

This was perfect and an example of what professional vocalist at the top of their game can produce. The video was great because it showed that they had put egos aside and were having a great time making great music together.

I played many Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers music on the radio, but Larry never showed this side of him with his range. Still I put Barry ahead of him, and of course the greatest voice according to Elvis the master...Roy Orbison.
