Gauntlet: Dark Legacy is one of my favorite game of all time. I replay it at least once a year ! It's just so satisfying to make your way through the crowd of enemies. The bosses are cool, the soundtrack is really good and it plays really well ! I even used to play this game with my grandparents when I was young ! I'm pretty sure you may know this but getting the item the bosses are weak to makes the fight easier and less tedious. I always get the items before facing the bosses.

there is a game on steam that piggybacks off of this game! it's a complete inspiration from this and i've played it with my friend! it comes pretty close to it! unfortunately.. i dont remember the name of the game since it's been almost 5 years since i've touched that game as well xD a google search should get you to it! :D

DJChiefX197 I just got an updated copy of the GameCube version and it has boss health bars with multiple hit boxes instead of just the dead center as the only hit box!
I remember the spider queen cheese, her body is made up of multiple attackable spots so if u just ran her over and over and buy triple throw before each fight you could lvl to 99 in about an hour of grinding. The good old days
I would pay up to $500 to play this game again with hd graphics. The steam gauntlet just cannot compare to the amount of creativity dark legacy has. This game and diablo 2 were my all time favorites games to play. I love the 1-99 levels and simple 4 characters to choose from with the upgraded version of the characters. I could play this game for years. Unfortunately they just don't make games like this anymore. Really wish they would remake this for steam with better graphics and extra dlc levels. They could easily make a gauntlet dark legacy 2 that people would love. All the gauntlet games after this were just bad. I'd do just about anything to play a game like this with today's graphics.
I've been playing this on my original PS2, my husband and I both grew up playing this. Thank you for making this video. I love seeing the love this game still has.
I just recently got the Sorceress to lvl 99, and I'm now working on the Warrior. The bosses were really fun, and provided a good challenge. Though I felt the Wraith should have been the final boss instead of Garm. He's hard. And with the Chimera, the fight's glitched on my copy. I can't destroy any of the heads, and the scimitar doesn't decapitate the middle head.

You could've also taken the Tri-shot with you into the Dragon fight. I wouldn't have judged (That's actually my favorite farming method). :3 (Note: It's also a decent item against the Chimera, for any "novice players" out there.)
I never 100% completed it because I kept failing to unlock the Unicorn and Sumner character classes. Got everything else though. I even maintained multiple game saves on my memory card so I could do couch co-op with friends who didn't have their own game saves.
When I saw a Lich was the master of the first realm, I expected a typical "spellcasting skeleton wizard" affair and that the axe wielder was some prominent secondary enemy. Having him instead be rotting executioner is such a wonderful break from the norm.
It's not bad, you're doing fine, but there are a few things I would have done differently. Like strafing, and more use of blocking. I mean, your health is high so it doesn't matter, but would add flare. Also a few melee combos in certain spots.

This game has been in my family for years it’s what we used to always play and we just got another original Xbox and we’ve had the disc for years but no Xbox so we getting controllers then we’re gonna play it
ah these were the days my dad used to give me what little money he had for the rare occasions we'd go to an arcade i'd use up ALL of that change money to play this game. i'd love to go into an arcade again. since i make my own money, i'd be able to spend as much as i want and see this game all the way through. although i did beat it on console when it came out later, there's just something different about playing it in a arcade xD
They haven't made a new Gauntlet in 10 years so I made "Shred The Undead" with Gauntlet fans in my heart. Would love to know what you think of it. The demo is on Steam and supports four players.
Do you have some specific version of the game ? How come you were able to pick up every item from skorne? And what was that pop up when you defeated him in the underworld?
looks like it might be the Gamecube version. I seem to remember that one letting you grab them all. Also what do you mean "pop-up"? The scare-crow thing with a pumpkin head? It's called a Mikey decoy. It takes damage instead of you when active. It's not in the arcade version because the arcade version forced items to be activated as soon as acquired.
Need someone to make a faithful remake, updated graphics and animations, optional perma death mode. Maybe add on a few more characters/color options and secret levels but that's about it. Feel like it would sell well, we absolutely need more couch co-op games.
I played the Gamecube version. When I used to rent the game as a kid I also never saw any health bar, but I'm guessing the later version of the game might have added them.
Out of everything, I choose the Armor Knights, Zombies. As the foot soldiers, and the anker biters. I choose snakes, for the realms I would be in the Forest realm and for the boss to guard me. I select Lich.
I choose the Frost worms and lizardmen. For the foot soldiers i would choose the hands and for the realms it would be the Forsaken providence. For the boss to guard me it would be the Genie
