here are some interesting little funfacts about the realms the forsaken provence- is the only realm that had no wall generaters is the only realm from legends whos original boss (plegue fiend) was replaced with a new boss (litch) the mountain kingdom- most closely resembles the original layout in legends the legendary weapon found here is the javalin in dark legacy, whilst in legends this is where the scimitar was found the Castle stronghold- had a new level added (castle berraks) that was not in legends is ironically the homeland of the valkyrie, and not the Knight the Sky dominion- -the first level was originaly part of the forsaken province in the last game -the boss was also originally the boss of the forsaken province the forest realm- -one of only two realms with a free moving boss (the other being the litch) -is the only realm with a female boss the Desert lands- -is homeland to the wizard -the coin room is in fact the office at Midway games the ice Domain- -is the only realm where an anklebitter spawns from a wall generator -has the longest cutcene of all the legendary weapons Dream world- -is the the only realm wome's boss's own legendary weapon can be found -has more mid-level music changes than any other realm desicrated temple- -there is a spot where a character speaks to you, warning you that skorn is there...making it the only "NPC" in all the levels that is not an enemy -all the enemies that appear are the first to make an appearance in thier world Underworld- -all the enemies are the second to appear in thier own world -garm can be seen durring the boss fight with skorn Battlefeild -it is implied that this "world" actually resides just outside Summner's Tower -is the only realm with only one "main enemy"
I picked backed up on playing this game again back in late 2016. I did several videos covering a few of the reams, some of which I never got around to posting, but will at some point. This was a long game too, but one of the very best in Gauntlet series.
I never used the cheats for character skins, but I did test some of the others, such as cheats for invincibility and the 10,000 gold, which pretty much lets you level up super quick. Another cool thing about this game is all the unlockable characters, though I haven't played them all.
Definitely does! I grew up playing the original Gauntlet back in the 1980's, along with about every version to follow. Last year I started playing Dark Legacy and Seven Sorrows again for the first time in like a decade. I still got more videos I did of Dark Legacy I have yet to post.
Another one I'd really like to see get a remake would be Gauntlet Seven Sorrows. Was my favorite next to Dark Legacy. This game was so long though. We've been doing play throughs for each of the realms, and there's a lot of them.
@@015cn Yes, Dark Legacy was a revamp and continuation of the earlier Gauntlet Legends arcade title. Both games shared many of the same stages for example.
@@015cn highly recommend gauntlet legends (it came before); but bear in mind the bosses don't pay you on repeat kills like in legacy (frankly for the best on console) i think seven sorrows came after legacy; and i remember being pretty disappointed with it due to how fast it was over... but that was well over a decade and a half ago by now.
here is an interesting foot note, there is a cheat code, where if u enter a specific name for a character, they will appear as the general of the world they hail from!
The Desert Lands was actually my favorite out of all the realms in the game. We covered a number of those realms so far, and some are incredibly long! We have 2 more we did like a year ago and just never got around to uploading them yet. The forest realm seemed to be the most graphically appealing of them all, and it was beyond difficult at some parts.
I would LOVE for them to make an *OPEN WORLD* remake of this game. Each Realm should be its own open world map and there should be NO portals in the game. In other words you should be able to walk in and out of Sumners Tower seamlessly back and forth between worlds. They could combine the Forsaken Provence and the Sky Kingdom in the same realm once again, and even place the Castle Stronghold in the Mountain Kingdom.
My team is doing a remake! It's not quite open world, but more of an HD remaster with a few gameplay tweaks. Come see in our discord! discord.gg/mPUCKYJ
When I was younger I use to play this with my sisters. In fact I still remember our characters I was always Jester, my younger sister was Valkyrie, and my older sister was sorceress and my other older sister was archer

May suggest editing the title to eliminate the gap between "cut" and "scenes" because I just got WAY too excited thinking I was going to get to see cut content from this game. Thanks for documenting all these sequences though--great memories.
Is this from Playstation 2? Just wondering, as the title/description doesn't state which version. I have GDL arcade cabinet and I've never seen the ones up to about 3 minutes in. But then again, ever since I converted from Legends to Dark Legacy on the pcb, only my nephews have really played it much, lol! I like working on the hardware and fixing stuff... they play them more, lol!
Yes, this is the PS2 version. The arcade version likely would defer in some ways, often to be expected. That's cool you know how to work on these old arcade boards, I used to work on computers myself years ago, though I've since left the IT field.
@@GamersBay yes, I used to upgrade and build computers around 1995-2000, but as pre-built systems got cheaper, I couldn't save people as much money, so I just went to doing it for myself and friends/family. Now, I couldn't even name you the most popular processor or video card models, lol! I still build my own systems every few years, but gone are the days I feel I must have some of the latest hardware. I generally only build a new rig for myself every 8-10 years, lol! I love working on arcade machines and monitors, though. A lot of nostalgia there as I grew up as a teen in the 80's.
@@TortureBot We have a lot in common it seems. I grew up in the 80's & 90's myself, having endured the glory days of the classic arcades, good times they were! Although, I didnt get into computers until the mid 2000's, went to college for computer science during that time, and worked in the IT field/media until around 2014. The work dried up, so I moved on. I used to love building computers, and like yourself its something I still do once in a blue moon. I don't do much work in the media anymore either, but I kept my gaming channel alive, mainly to catalogue all the amazing arcade games we grew up with. These games are very a big part of my life, its practically what I live for today. To date, we've produced over 270+ classic arcade game videos, many are reviews, others are just game play with informational descriptions. I originally started this channel back in 2013 specifically to promote flash games for developers, and we used to have our own website that I actually coded by hand, that at one point housed hundreds of online games. I recently started doing videos of the old school flash games I never got a chance to cover. I have a regular job outside of RU-vid, but I work on this stuff in my spare time. The irony its 4: 30 in the morning here and I just got home from work, the first thing I do is run to my channel lol.
@@GamersBay it's about 6:10AM here. The wife took a trip to Tennessee with her sister and a friend, so I'm burning the midnight oil (like I do all the time anyway). Worked in textiles for 26 years, but then foreign competition closed our company for good. Recently went back to school and got a degree in industrial electronics technology.
@@TortureBot Yeah, a lot of industry's got crushed in America over the last few decades. I'm back working in the restaurant industry, as I don't see the IT industry a reliable way to make a living anymore. They outsource everything these days, its disgraceful. I thought about going back to school again too, but I have too many health problems now, and just don't have the energy to start over again. I'm pretty much disabled at this point, but I can still work at times, just not every day.
If you don't mind a different setting, Hunter: The Reckoning is similar. I don't think it's quite as good, but with enough people, it's fun. There are also some indie games (Battle Axe, Children of Morta) with similar gameplay, except they're 2D isometric or top down view like classic Gauntlet.
my childhood. i played the everliving fuck out of this game. had like 12 different characters and ran the story like a billion times. such a good game.
Yeah, there were a lot of awesome characters to unlock in this game. Dark Legacy was likely the most in-depth game in the entire Gauntlet series it seems.
