A couple is filing a lawsuit against New York City alleging that the city’s health insurance plan is discriminatory because it doesn’t cover in vitro fertilization, for male couples. Zinhle Essamuah sat down with the couple in an exclusive interview on how their plans to grow a family now faces these obstacles.

Why would insurance pay for anyones IVF? Completely elective. Insurance premiums are high and rising and I mean, some people can’t procedures they NEED to live, or walk, or have a proper wheelchair that allows them to navigate in this world. Some think twice about going to the ER or even needed dr appts because they can’t afford the copay. So if you want a baby- adopt or pay for it yourself. This isn’t even a disease of infertility- this is the fact that two men can’t make a baby. It’s just facts. Don’t force everyone else to pay for this. Drop some sperm inna fertile woman and see what happens…for free!

I agree, but if the law says females can get this benefit, then there is no reason males cannot also get it. In fact a single person who wants to be a parent should also be eligible.

It is WRONG , and it's great they file a law suit . The rule here is not equal and it must change and be equal to all. It's thing like this that are not good to society . It must change for the better , EQUALITY FOR ALL.
