This video contains two recent matches I had with the LV1-2 Guncannon Heavy Type D on Gundam Battle Operation 2. It is a 400-450 cost general with high durability, two ranged instant stuns and solid midrange damage output. Its main weaknesses would that although it has a decent ranged fast downswing, it lacks the power of a beam saber unlike the similar playstyle Sniper II (WD) and Nemo. It also has slow walking speed and lacks a reliable LV2 Maneuver Armor break, although it makes up for this with the ability to bully with consecutive stuns once they stop boosting. This suit is pretty old at this point and has received no buffs or nerfs since release, yet I still think it remains a powerful option. It has high staying power thanks to durability and although it lacks the ability to push out any serious amount of ranged damage unlike some other midrange generals, it more than makes up for this with the ability to support teammates with the ability to spam splash stuns. I hope that you enjoy watching!
The primary weapon of the Heavy Type D is a bazooka with 1400 power, 8 ammo, 6 seconds cooldown, 18 seconds reload, 1.5 seconds swap time, 350m range and 30% stagger value. This has good all round stats for a bazooka other than the low stagger value. You can lead with this weapon before comboing into the cannons to stagger twice in a row.
Its primary melee weapon is its own limbs with 1400 power, 2.5 seconds cooldown, 0.5 seconds swap time and standard modifiers. This has a short ranged neutral swing but side swings and downswings are both kicks with decent enough range. It isn't too tricky to confirm a knockdown with this, but the kick animation is completely incapable of hitting downed enemies. So just use it for the knockdown and nothing else.
Its first sub weapons are two shoulder cannons with 850x2 power, 8 ammo, 5.5 seconds cooldown, 20 seconds reload, 1.5 seconds swap time, 450m range and 35%x2 stagger value. Although it has longer cooldown than a supports cannons, it still gives you overall high stagger output in combination with the bazooka. A large splash radius makes this easy to connect as well.
Its second sub weapon is a head vulcan but it only has 2% stagger value and 372 DPS, making it pretty useless. Better to use the grenade to finish off weak enemies.
Its third sub weapon is a hand grenade with 1100 power, 3 ammo, 2.5 seconds cooldown, 13 seconds reload, 1 second swap time and 50% stagger value. This can do decent damage considering you can reach over 50 ranged strength with Heavy Type D. You can try to throw this after using your two stuns to get some more damage out.
It also has a 2300 HP shield classified as small. This doubles your tackle power when unbroken. Combined with the +80% tackle power buff from LV3 Enhanced Tackle, your tackle power rises to 2160. Combined with your 3000 power counter animation, you can hit ridiculous damage counter tackles if your shield is unbroken. It can also be used after downswings in a pinch.
The LV1 Heavy Type D has 15500 HP, 20 ballistic/beam resist and 22 melee resist. Its resistances are about the same as a 600 cost suit, while the HP is also high. It lacks Emergency Evasion, so it gets LV1 Maneuver Armor instead.
It also has 110 walk speed, 190 boosting speed, 50 thrust and 60 turning speed. Thrust is a little low and walking speed is lagging behind other 400 costers but the boosting speed is perfectly fine. You are slow but not so slow that it becomes a major issue.
It also gets LV1 Explosive Reactive Armor which downgrades the level of stun received from splash stuns such as bazookas or cannons. This isn't too useful defensively since enemies can just aim for a direct hit, but it can be pretty handy if you fight in close range since you won't stun yourself with your bazooka or cannons.
Overall I think that the Heavy Type D still stands the test of time and remains as one of the better options for a shooting general at 400 cost, even still at 450 cost for its multi stun ability. It lacks considerable shooting DPS unlike a Marine Gundam or a Late Model High Mobility Zaku, but is a great supporting unit since it can both protect allies and set up opportunities for them with proper stun usage. In combination with a support or another stun heavy general like Sniper II WD, you can absolutely destroy somebody by basically stunning them forever and restraining them for allies to finish off. It is a simple style of play but still dreadfully effective on just about any map. I can highly recommend you try it out for 400-450 cost, even 500 cost is doable if you know how to play it. Thanks for watching, and I hope that you enjoyed it!
