The #FamilyBurnoutWagon is primed to get a 8.8 axle. Before we put in the new axle, updating the brakes to something more than a suggestion is a necessity. Additionally, it is important to have a 5 lug bolt pattern to match the front and keep the wheels I already have. For more details have a look at the video. Don't forget to Subscribe!!

Trying to do this same swap, what offeset did you go with for the axles? The 8.8 drum offset or the s10 blazer offset?

what about the proportion valvw
@BurnoutsAndRotorblades
@BurnoutsAndRotorblades 2 года назад
It didn't come with a true proportioning valve. The combination valve is more of a safety measure to cut off fluid to an open circuit. It is fine to leave just as it was installed from the factory. I have years on this setup with zero issues and I drive the crap out of it.
@Nutflame55
@Nutflame55 2 года назад
When bleeding the brakes starting in the rear did you get the fluid to flow real good out the back .mines flow enough to put half in the to the fill up the tube halfway but it won't flow into the bottle like the front
@BurnoutsAndRotorblades

@@Nutflame55 try cracking open a front and rear at the same time. that will reset the combo valve. Also, I went to school with a kid named Joshua Pridgen in New Braunfels Texas. You wouldn't happen to be from there would you?

I use the bleed tool. I just didn't get a lot of flow from the rear the brakes are working but the pedal is a little soft. And no I'm from Savannah Georgia

We're the Moser axles expensive? Thinking about doing this. Finding a rwd blazer is extremely hard to do in the north east tho. I use to look for the front brakes for my g body. Never found one lol

they were a few hundred bucks. I would say, after all the abuse thye have survived, it was well worth it.

What did u do to convert the brake lines to the caliper
@inscoredbz
@inscoredbz 2 года назад
So the rear brake backing plates are 2 wheel drive as well? Pretty sweet.
@BurnoutsAndRotorblades
@BurnoutsAndRotorblades 2 года назад
I have used 2wd and 4wd backing plates. The 4wd backing plates change the position of the caliper so they do not contact the frame when the suspension compresses.
@inscoredbz
@inscoredbz 2 года назад
@@BurnoutsAndRotorblades are you talking about moving the calipers from the front to the rear? Because I've heard you can take the two-wheel drive flanges and just switch sides and it'll do the same thing.

I just got a 1996 cobra 8.8 and it’s going in a 1982 elcamino and my question is what size axles you use for your swap? The reason I asked I was told to use a shorter moser axle so I can use the blazer or Camaro brakes please help
@BurnoutsAndRotorblades
@BurnoutsAndRotorblades 4 года назад
If I remember correctly, that is an SN95 axle which is different than the Foxbody version I used. So, I don't have any measurements to give you. I would start off by measuring the mustang axle shaft for a baseline. Maybe knock all the studs off the stock axle, install the brakes and see how everything lines up. Then you'll know if you need to go in or out with the length. Take all that information and give it to Moser. Make sure you tell them that s10 blazer discs will be going on the end so they can make the lug pattern and axle end match the blazer disc dimensions if that's what you're going for. For that, when I called they told me the best thing is to measure the blazer axle hub you get the discs from so you can just give Moser those numbers.
@shawng7902
@shawng7902 5 лет назад
Was the width or just a good deal the reason you didnt use an sn95 mustang 8.8? I have ver-fit wheels already and kind of wanted an abs rear tone wheel to try to set up traction control input on my efi set up.
@BurnoutsAndRotorblades
@BurnoutsAndRotorblades 4 года назад
The SN95 rearend is much wider than the foxbody. the foxbody is .75" wider than stock. I didn't want to buy new wheels and I didn't want different backspacing front and rear.

Can you use this set up on the GM 7.5 rear end as well or is this for the Ford 8.8 only? Did you use the Blazer axels as well?
@BurnoutsAndRotorblades
@BurnoutsAndRotorblades 4 года назад
Check out the other video on my channel for all the info about the 8.8 swap. As for what else you can use this on, it depends. as long as the backing plate is centered on the axle tube and the offeset allows the caliper to have a full range of motion, I don't see why not. Just measure and shim if needed.

I don't know but. . . The Grand national is a Gbody so I don't see why not. However, if I'm not mistaken the Gnat came with a good rearend. not the 7.5 that plagues other G Bodies. Double check that on GBodyforum.com. There are a lot of knowledgeable folks and a wealth of resources over there.

With this swap did you have to add a proportioning valve?
@BurnoutsAndRotorblades
@BurnoutsAndRotorblades 4 года назад
I did not add a proportioning valve. Everything I did is in the video. I guess because I did all the Blazer brakes it was still pretty balanced. It still works more than a year and hundreds of burnouts later. Usually if I had to do something different I put it as a note in the comments.

Do you have to use the rwd blazer brakes or will 4wd work? Also does the emergency brake still work? Love the content. Think I’ve decided on an 8.8 after watching your vids.
@BurnoutsAndRotorblades
@BurnoutsAndRotorblades 4 года назад
There is a thread on Gbodyforum ( gbodyforum.com/threads/another-blazer-brake-question.70882/page-3 )but here is the cliff notes. The 4wd disc "hats" are deeper putting the disc further inboard on the axle and making the stock backing plate/caliper bracket unusable. The reason this works on the 4wd blazer is because the 4wd axle is longer than the 2wd pushing the disc out and making the disc line up with the caliper at the axle flange. The only way you could use 4wd brakes would be to discard the stock mounting bracket and make one that moves the caliper inboard. If you use the 2wd discs, everything else from the 4wd will work.

Is the fox body ford 8.8 more centered than other ford 8.8 rear ends?
@BurnoutsAndRotorblades
@BurnoutsAndRotorblades 4 года назад
No, but it's narrower. So, the width and mounting positions are closer to the stock GBody reared. You can use other rear ends but they may need to have the length changed or weld on different mounting brackets. The fox body rear end is a bolt on affair in both respects.
