Normal PFI or port fuel injection pressures maximum range almost never will exceed 75 PSI. On GDI the nominal fuel pressure is usually about 2900 PSI. These high pressure will naturally employ fuel components that are much more roughed in construction. Common Rail Direct Injection pressure measurements can be made with a robust thin film titanium oxy-nitride pressure transducer architecture. Hermetically-sealed, all-welded stainless steel construction is used, and a variety of port and electrical connector options is employed, satisfying specific manufacturers.
Other GDI fuel pressure sensors employ advanced crystalline silicon MEMS strain gage technology. MEMS are related to semiconductors and integrated circuits, originally based on silicon wafer fabrication techniques, but adding space, and continuously variable output similar to analog devices.
