Credit to you for rolling up your sleeves and getting to the real cause of your problem! No telling how many parts and how much it would have cost you with the next 'service' call!
Thanks for the fix post Sir!!!! I cleaned the condenser coils and the back area of shocking dust...Now my fridge is so unbelievably quiet, I can’t thank you enough.🤗(Pretoria, South Africa)
Thank you for this video. My wife heard the same high pitched sound coming from our GE Café™ Series 23.1 Cu. Ft. Counter-Depth French-Door Refrigerator. I couldn't hear it because of my hearing loss. I took the bottom cover panel on the back off and the drum coil was covered with dust. Vacuumed the drum replaced the cover panel no more high pitched sound!
OMG!!! Thank you so much!!! My fan was rubbing against the fan cover causing it to stop. Pulled the cover off the fan and cleaned up the coils run like a brand new fridge!!!!!
Awesome video !!! I had the same problem, unfortunately I bought a new one , you live and you learn. I save so much money watching RU-vid videos on others things.
yup.. vacuuming the condenser coils once every 6 months works miracles on refrigerators... I have a 1998 Kenmore that started not cooling well... I vacuumed the coils and voila...cold again and have never had an issue.
My condenser coil isn't dirty, but I still have been getting that noise for months. I told the apartment property manager about the problem and was told," deal with it". By the way my refrigerator is a GE GTH18CBEHRBB engery efficient, many others at these apartments have the same problem. I now use my livingroom as a hallway to my bedroom.
Our 3-4 year old GE side-by-side fridge has recently begun to make a fairly loud, one-to-two second whistle just as the compressor kicks on. Anything to worry about? Thx.
My problem solved with screeching noise and ice build up. My setting was too high. I lowered setting a bit no more screeching no more ice build up. Over a week. I keep fingers crossed. (GE)
Well man...you got it backwards!! The condenser is where the heat generated by the refrigerant being compressed by the compressor is dissipated! Then, the refrigerant is being sent to the evaporator coil via the expansion valve where it is turned back into a gas and generates frost on the evap coil. This what generates the cold into the freezer. The fan in the freezer then forces cool air down into the refrigerator!
I wasn't paying attention to the Thermodynamics part of the video. I was paying attention to the brush and vacuum part, which actually solved the problem.
Good afternoon sir, can you please help me get the instruction manual for my GE frige, its a tcg12zyt55ww model and I cant seem to find the manual anywere... many thanks
Very helpful information. I wonder why the technician wasn't able to figure this out? Then again, maybe he did figure it out and purposely gave a bogus diagnosis. 💵
I just noticed a noise coming from my GE refrigerator in the freezer, started lastnight..someone on a youtube video said to take a blow dryer to it because it builds up with ice..the noise went away, but I came home tonight and everything was quiet until I opened the freezer door and the noise is twice as loud..both times the noise started is when I opened the freezer door?it scares me bc this house burned down when I was 2yrs old,my mom and dad just bought it and remodeled the whole house,6 months later the house burn down..the refrigerator caught fire!first time noone was home,I would of been first to die since flames shot right through my crib..well,that was 1965,but still..is there a chance it can catch fire?im here by myself until I call someone
It's pretty bad when you call a repairman and he doesn't even mention the dirt and dust. Either that repairman is useless at his job, or a crook who gets a cut of the price of the parts. Either way, he should quit his job, as he fails.
How good it most feel, saving $650.00 just for use the vacum cleaner!!!, I'm that kind of guy, I fix everything, washer and dryer (just changed the transmition 20+years old), stove, microwave (changed the magnetron, 22+ years old), suburban (changed the direction bar), ice maker (changed the spiral 12+ years old).....my wife hates me, nothing is new, now a noise came up out of the freezer, and guess what....
