Now that I think about it, having the Locust come back makes everything you fought for in Gears 1-3 be in vain! The Coalition really dug themselves into a hole, making the Locust 2.0 into super soldiers able to adapt to anything

That Swarm never should have happened, and if it had to, it should have ended at Gears 4. The Swarm would never have been as effective if Kait never had to connect to the Berserker Matriarch and awaken Reyna.

I don't think that a sequel was a bad idea but they wasted the potential. I remember hearing an interesting theory before Gears 4 that the Swarm were creatures that lived underground BELOW the imulsion. And we never saw them in the previous games because, of course, they had no way to get through all the imulsion and pass it, so after the original trilogy ended with the Lambent, Locust, and Imulsion gone, they were able to expand outward. But no, the one single thing no one wanted of the Locust just coming back happens.

Remember that Marcus Fenix was in prison because he disobeyed orders to try to save his father. Marcus Fenix was a famous war hero and they still put him in prison. So yes, Kait the grunt should be in prison or shot for going AWOL if the writers followed the logic of their universe.

Although Marcus and crew always seemed to me like the sort to try percussive maintenance before using official means.

Oh my god yes! My friend says Gears 2 is his favorite and while he and I have quite different personality types I think Gears 2 is my favorite as well. They should add more environmental desctrution to the Ultimate version. With Unreal Engine 5 coming out it can begin by the community I bet with permission from Epic. Just like how Unreal Tournment 4 was supposed to go.

looks like entertainment to gen Z, and the today tiktok and instagram media for those people... i like gears 4 mechanics and history, it is relatable, but the new gears are clearly less aggressive in terms of military performance and more in a social way... wich is pretty impresive because they are at war and most of the time the old ones are carrying the plot and the new ones are like scolded childs... wich is pretty bad, but i enjoyed the 4th game, at least in latin spanish the voice actors are more normal than the english ones, but still feel like pretty bad management in history, i were playing gears ultimate and i had problems not with the story but finding some doors, and then i went to gears 3 (i do not have gears 2 right now) then i were playing and the story were pretty chaotic in a good way, but i wanted to her "in and out" in-game so i play gears 4, it were like i said, but the mechanics and the controller were pretty good polished, i think i end that game more because the gameplay is pretty good, more than the history, or the characters.

If it was actually a plot point that Kate was actually a civilians that picked up rifle and pretended to be a soldier due to having some personal stake in the conflict and we trying to not be found out, that might've actually been more interesting than what we got.

Couldn’t have said it better myself! I actually had to force myself to complete the Gears 5 campaign. It was just so boring and the characters so unlikable I could only play it for like an hour at a time. It actually took me a week to finish the main campaign. With the original trilogy, I had to stop myself from playing the game too much so I could savor everything and rely enjoy the story.

I would not say it’s Microsoft trying to destroy these series on purpose more by accident they want to continue these stories. they know the games sell the problem is the studios they set up to continue these games 343 for Halo and Coalition for gears just have no clue what they’re doing and have basically none of the original people who made the games that these companies are being asked to continue. The end result 343 and coalition make ok at best and dumpster fire at worst games ( I like Halo 4’s story then Halo 5 was dumpster fire of a story, mp was fine though) and now both studios have to some how save their stories in game 6 and I doubt they could realistically pull it off

@@dukes1993724 It actually does because in Gears of War 4 it was basically shown that JD was going to be the new face of the franchise, son of Marcus Fenix and it had the feel of a kind of passing of the torch from Marcus to him. In Gears 5 they decided like a lot of media today they wanted to prop up gender politics instead of telling a good story. So all game long JD is treated like a horrible person though nothing he does is all that bad, and when he returns in the 3rd act he goes around continuing to be a decent guy and apologizing to everyone while his "friends" keep looking down on him. Why? Because he is straight white guy, and in this era of modern media that's an unforgivable sin, so the game goes out of it's way to tear JD down whenever it can and tries (but fails) to prop up Kait as the new face of the franchise but she is childish, entitled, petulant, always seems angry even when people are being nice to her. Then there is Del who I liked a lot in Gears 4 but hated in Gears 5 because like JD he was meant to be the new Marcus, Del was the new Dom. Was anyway, that role gets scraped into turning him into an annoying, goofy, comic relief character who you can't take seriously for even a moment every time I started to like Del he would say or do something idiotic. Now Gears of War was never a brilliant storyline but it was one you could take seriously even if just as an action game. These games are like if someone tried to take the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Gears of War throw them in a blender then call it good. Those things do not mesh well at all. As they are two very different styles of entertainment trying to do very different things. God I am not holding out much hope for Gears 6.

@Josh Ochoa we can hope. But i feel it's too late for some of these plot beats to happen now. I really hope they do something with reyna cause right now she stands as a massive waste of a character, we really need a reason to get more invested in the swarm. Kinda feel the story is a but aimless at the moment, but i still hold hope for gears 6 :)

Stranded have no problem blaming the cog, and Hoffman in Gears 1 definitely had an issue with Fenix being let out. This(carmine) is a particular case, and would work more on the grounds of its a video game and we have seen the family die firsthand. We never even see how Clay feels about losing Lizzie, nor do we see JD offer condolences.

Also, it was explained in Gears 3 that the Locust invaded to escape the Lambent. The Hollows was their birthright, so they reluctantly had to invade the surface. They didn’t do it because they hated humanity (they probably did but not to the lobby where they would invade). Then Gears 5 comes along and says no they invaded because Myrrah had a grudge against the scientists who took her baby? Like what? Does continuity mean anything to these people? If they were following the lore, the Swarm would have no reason to keep attacking humanity. There is no more Lambent. They could’ve colonized the surface taking out any humans who interfered.

I mean they had a golden chance their. You had a cast of characters who is ticked at the cog and one of their member is of locust descent. You could have the world most awkward team up , and see the MC side with the locusts for once. Would that of been nuts, if done well, remembering the reason people have to hate locust but making them work together none the less.
