Who would want leading you in real life Marcus or Kait?... exactly... terrible character. Marcus Fenix made gears of war... and by throwing him away and trying to force kait in our faces killed it.

Marcus punched out Hoffman and took a piece of the Hammer with him that resulted in a lot of people dying. Baird used a a very powerful rocket against orders from an uptight dick. Kait disobeys and order given by he friend that while her CO isn’t exactly Lumis levels of prideful. He also then basically said fuck it and sent Del with her. As for Jin 1. Her order of getting re hooked up to the Hive Mind is probably impossible 2. Her guards almost got Smoked by Del, Fahz, and Cole with Marcus ( the literal hero of the Locust War) and Baird ( who controls all her mechs and robots) on Kait’s Side. Don’t get me wrong I hate Kaits character but she disobeying an order from a friend who let it go and a really weak First Minister is not on Marcus or Baird levels.

Gears of war 5 its too woke that even the original creators criticized it.

Another problem she was a plot point like seriously it should've been JD or anya that would make more sense than giving the game to a character with barely any build up.

I’m all for new Gears characters. After all, in Gears 3 we were introduced to Sam and she was pretty bad-ass. But they tried too damn hard with Kait

@@curtismcpsycho8212 “barely any build up” Her town was invaded and almost everyone she cared about was dead, the entire plot of Gears 4 is to find her mother, as they slowly get dragged into a war with the old enemy, she's forced to kill her mother, which later gets turned into a vessel for Myrrah's consciousness, when the group doesn't know what to do she guides then, when she's not sure what to do, they guide her, she never listened to anyone, not even agreeing with her mother when she said they would stay and not go away, even though the COG was literally trying to kill then for a crime they didn't commit, she's literally related to Myrrah, which the sole existence of Reyna and Kait makes the whole thing of the locust hunting them down make sense.

Honestly that was what I would have done if I was the writer. (Apologies in advance if anyone considers this TLDR) The idea I had is that the Swarm were a falseflag operation conducted by the more fascistic elements of the New COG military. They used left over Locust specimens to counter the growing Outsider movement. The New COG could say "See, the world is dangerous you NEED US we will protect you, all you have to do is obey us!" Now the problem is that the Locust evolved into the Swarm and grew beyond and now have become a real threat that they cannot control. That is until they hear of Kait Diaz and her lineage. So they would want to acquire her to turn her into their pet queen and use her to control the swarm for them. In this story Kait was never cured in Act 2 and Queen Reyna (Queen Queen how stupid) would not exist. This story would also embrace the concept of a "Dark JD" which was hinted at but, sadly, was wasted! JD is determined to escape Marcus' shadow by embracing the New COG. But he won't have been told everything. He'll just be told that securing Kait will save humanity and so will do so for the greater good and will follow his orders without question. Furthermore in Act 3 Fahz and JD would just be pretending to be friendly as a cover for their mission. Once everyone returned to New Ephyra (in Act 4) the Onyx Guard would arrive and Kait would be detained. This would kick off a COG civil war of sorts as some of the cast would be opposed to this. Then the Swarm would attack and Kait would escape along with Del in the chaos. JD and Fahz would eventually catch up to Kait and Del. JD warns them to surrender but Del refuses tries to convince JD to let Kait go but the situation deteriorates and ends with Del being shot and killed. Kait is saddened and enraged and uses her power to take control of some nearby swarm creatures reinforcing that she is indeed a threat. JD and Fahz fight them off and seem to have Kait cornered but then the Leviathan (giant worm thing) appears and seemingly swallows her then burrows back underground carrying Kait to safety elsewhere. Kait realizes that she will be declared a monster and that she has no where left to turn but to the swarm itself. She'll have to use the power of the swarm to protect herself from those she once called her friends. This is far from perfect and needs more work but I think its a far better story than what TC shat out.

Goes from a nobody outsider, to of course being an old main antagonists daughter, to basically leading the COG, being shrouded by plot armor, arrogant and bitchy, and as he said, only cares for herself, trying to boss everyone around, and randomly getting instant respect by old characters. Even disobeying direct orders and not getting shot or arrested when everyone that did that before her, would face consequences immediately. But no, Mary Sue saves the day, even putting her as the new face of the franchise after being a side character in just 1 game. I'm all for badass female characters like Sam, Anya, Bernie etc etc, but this is so forced that it hurts.

thats what happens when diversity is their main goal, wish game studios would focus on likeable aspects and then add diversity, look at cole compared to del. They probably didnt want to do another character like cole bc it would be sterotypical, but the thing that studios dont get is you could have a good character and not have them be some type of sterotype

I wanted to see Marcus apply a percussive attitude adjustment. Baird is also a raging asshole, but unlike Kait, Baird is both useful and dependable, so he is allowed a certain amount of sass.

he is my second favorite character in the series after Markus and I really liked that he was the protagonist in gears 4 and in act 1 of gears 5 JD had a amazing story but then they just jump to kait and left jd behind

JD could have been better developed. Instead of a young adult with something to prove, he's a teenager with daddy issues. Worse yet, they dragged Marcus down the same path.

The only reason why someone like Kait would be made the protagonist of a Gears of War game would be to push the idea of equality. Ironically enough, they portrayed her with all the negative stereotypes associated with women. Constantly complaining, can't do anything without getting emotional, and having to have everything her way. Why are writers so incapable of creating a genuinely powerful female lead? Marcus was powerful because he kept his emotions in check, was stoic in the hardest of times, but also showed his soul through subtle interactions (such as the scene with Maria in GOW2). Anya was a powerful character because, even though she was much more expressive than the other characters, she was still hard as nails and actually capable of handling the horrors of war. Even if Kait was just a emulation of either of them, she would've been 10x better than the character she ended up being.

The previous female characters I saw like Anya and Sam were bad ass and when introduced to Kait I felt she was always being sassy.

Pretty much summed up why Gears of War 1 is still my favorite game in the franchise.

Woke independent woman is becoming more and more common these days. I'll likely get old before this high of a phase for woman cools down, I say this because maybe it is a thing similar to intergenerational trauma passed down from woman who experienced a bad time with a man back then. And now that the internet is rising in its need while still keeping your free liberty on it, they feel a state of empowerment and this train of thought spread like a wildfire.
