OMG!! I've been trying to pass this last subject (Math) off and on for the past 14 years, and I have the confidence that I'm about to get the last 3 points and some. This was the best explanation on slope and the way you were not at all faced paced and very patient explaining is very much appreciated you have no idea. I'm literally on my math GED my last one and I've seriously been struggling to pass it very heart braking each and everytime but this helped so much with figuring out slopes! I want to cry cause you explained it perfectly to me🙏❤.

How did you determine it rises to 3 ? And not 4 ? Or not in the negatives ?

You can think of it as how many “steps” you have to take, so it only starts once you make your first step away from the point. I hope that helps some!

I only have math to go and I am terrified to schedule. The strange think is, I went to college and university in my county and pass calculus, statistics and pre calculus but these high school maths got me terrified

When four points are given to find the slope, could we use the slope formula? Y-y divided by x-x?

For sure! And you can use any 2 points out of the 4, the formula will give you the same answer no matter which 2 points you use 👍🏼

Will all the slope questions be ones that you have to solve with equations like all the ones outside of the first 2 examples?

Hey there, some common topics to pass are: • Determine Functions • Line Plots • Compare Rates • Mean, Median, Mode • Plotting Points • Functions • Substitutions • Solve Equations • Slope • Quadratics • Equations of Lines • Geometry (Area, Perimeter, Volume, Surface Area) I know that's a lot, but you could also check out: • Calculator Problems • 10 Common Problems as a fast way to prep!

When we find the slope of a line that passes through 2 points, why is rise over run reversed? I though the first number is RISE and the second number is RUN.

It’s a great question. Rise over run with points is: y2 - y1 / x2 - x1 So rise is how the y’s change, and the run is how the x’s change. But it’s still rise over run, it’s just that rise is how y’s change and run is how x’s change. Since slope is steepness of a line, how high up or down it goes takes priority over how much it runs. I hope that helps explain a little bit more 🤞🏼

im wondering how to do the problems where they give you 2 different points because you aren't provided a graph 🤕

There are 2 options. They do give you a whiteboard, so you could sketch a grid and plot the points on the whiteboard, then find the rise over run. Or, you could use the slope formula: y2 - y1 / x2 - x1 So if you're finding the slope between (3, 5) and (9, 8), you want to subtract y's and x's: 8 - 5 / 9 - 3 3 / 6 1/2 So the slope is 1/2 in that case. This test in particular meant a lot to me to pass since I've been struggling with math my whole life, I scored 145 on all three of the other tests so I really am excited I scored a little higher this time. Without the videos you make I wouldn't have been able to do it, you're really a blessing. thank you so much for all of your help! 💜
