1st: No politics here. 2nd: I personally really like Chinese EVs like BYD, Zeeker, Geely, Nio, etc. Their EV technology are so amazing,Tesla actually also uses the Chinese CATL battery. BYD’s blade battery is so safe. I guess that's why the US has banned Chinese EVs because they are so competitive!
@donblythe3766
@donblythe3766 Месяц назад
The reason the US has banned Chinese EVs is that they are being built with the mind of taking over the United States car market which employs millions of people that are involved in the production of automobiles and let's not forget that China is trying to blockade Taiwan, an independent country, China has been harassing the Philippine Islands, China has overtaken the country of Tibet, China is worrying the Indians on their northern border with China.The Chinese have a huge Navy that they're using to bully ships in the South China Sea which they have now claimed to be their territory and nobody can go there without their permission ,even after centuries of it being considered open world waters So there are plenty of reasons to not buy Chinese cars because You are supporting a dictatorial regime that wants to take over the entire world. Buying any Chinese cars means you are giving up your Nations and your individual freedom to the Chinese Communist Party. i would say that is a very bad deal
@shawnnoyes4620

I keep hearing about hybrids being a better option than BEVs for now. This an infrastructure issue and it won't get sorted if everyone is still investing in fossil fuels. Stop blaming the tech and put some pressure on the people who are doing a bad job of keeping up with the times. I have owned all types, HEV, Ice, Phev and EV. EV by far the best but infrastructure needs improvement.

It’s way too early to say but looking at the latest new car sales in Australia for April and May, there seems to be a trend that people opting out of ICE cars are choosing hybrids rather than battery only cars. Makes sense, huge country, long distances, remote areas. No problem for a hybrid but a bit of a challenge for a battery powered car. Japan seems to be favouring hybrids.
@robertimrie3710
@robertimrie3710 Месяц назад
You sound like one of those Lexus bots on other EV channels. AU drivers do similar distances to UK drivers. EVs are more than capable of long highway hauls. Australians are just lazy and tick the Toyota box, which now equals hybrid. If Toyota had a moral compass they would have gone EV and Australians would have followed them.
@TB-up4xi

The CLTC range of ORA 03 with 49kWh LFP battery (old tech and weight ~390kg, not the best battery) is 400km, so 450km for Geely (bigger, heavier car) is very good, if it is true, but only 10% more than the average, NOT INSANE. And, again, CLTC is not even close to real world, discount ~1/3 of a range to get real world estimate.

The thing is, hybrids HEVs not PHEVs, are up 113% this month YoY and took 1/4 of the entire market in Australia. It's hard to argue against a $32k Toyota Corolla hybrid with 1,000km range at $65 a tank. Competition is good, but hybrids will give BEVs a run for their money out to the end of this decade. The good news is 1/3 vehicles sold in Australia this month had some form of electrification.

We are already seeing incredible mileage with minimal maintenance from Teslas, and million km taxi's in China with again very little maintenance. I don't need massive range, and the charging network is increasing. For me I don't want to still having the oil/ belt/ filter/ spark plug changes to keep the complex combustion engine happy.

@yggdrasil9039 Месяц назад
@@toriwatson9655 Granted, and ultimately EVs will completely replace ICE and hybrids. But price and EV charging infrastructure are still roadblocks. And I can tell you from 8 years of hybrid ownership I've never had to change a spark plug, timing belt or anything other than vacuum the filter and change the oil myself every 10,000km which takes about 30 minutes. I've had 2 traction battery reconditions in that time, total cost $1,900, which has saved me about $16,000 in petrol over 8 years ($2k / year cheaper to run than my previous petrol car driving the same distance.) I'm just pointing out why hybrids are booming in Australia right now, while EVs are growing, but at a much slower pace. Hybrids are cheaper, they are a mature technology vs EVs are more expensive, and they are an early adopter technology, which means the tech gets superceded more quickly.

You site batteries with small KWH ratings and associate big CLTC ranges with the batteries and say wow what batteries. But the car.does NOT look outstandingly aerodynamic. A battery with a high energy density means you can achieve less weight for the same KWH capacity. And that would help range. But CLTC could be only 74% of EPA range or less from what I've read. So what does this car you are talking about weigh?

BYD claims a new hybrid that has a nominal range of 1,200 miles. It's reported to have gone as far as 1,429 miles on one tank of gasoline. This is why Toyota thinks hybrids have more in the tank. The future Toyota hybrid engines won't be available until at least 2027. Toyota claims it's hydrogen research taught them new tricks about combustion that they hope to exploit for future hybrids. The engine design is radically different from past practice and may involve a very short piston stroke

Well it looks like majority ev adoption will occure decades fron now in america without the help of chinas budget evs . Australia could be faster but they have one problem as most of the country is rural and hot . Not good for ev adoption . Places like thailand being smaller and urban should accelerate to adoption . Batterry and efficiency advancement plays a part but that also requires the look of evs to change substantially to become more aero and get away from evs looking like ice cars . Amazing how weel they do with a box design

@@joeblue2492 when the Japanese automakers began creating a more aero design in the 1980s with compact cars it took a bit of time for acceptance . What people appreciated is their better gas milage in a time that we had some fuel interruptions to motivate people to buy not paying as much to the aesthetic look of the vehicle . Over time that look became popular . Now streamline futuristic look goes back to the 1940s so it's not something new . It's really amazing to me we build box autos . As resources dwindle we have to be more efficient and that the incentive for improvement.

Honestly I find everything about this car's aesthetics sickening. But what is this video "I read the advertising for this Chinese car and it must be great"... "It has the highest energy density EVER" - But even Geely don't claim that.... WOW! It has a 'structural battery! Which means when the battery is depleted, the car must be scrapped, another throwaway vehicle to save the planet. WOW! This Chinese company claims its govt subsidized car will be sold for $20,000 USD in China! Read between the lines, that doesn't mean it will retail for anywhere close to that price anywhere else, after transport, import/port fees, distribution and marketing costs + a healthy profit margin you won't see that for less than $47,000 in AU, probably more. The propaganda on this channel is incredible.
