I would urge anybody to also read Sebastian‘s autobiography and also download the audiobook! Sebastian reads it himself in true Sebastian fashion! It’s fantastic!
What Gzr said about rock on the radio is true, but it's also true of just about every musical genre at the moment. Everything is very corporate, image is the main concern these days, very few artists put the music first.
The whole death metal thing is definitely a acquired taste. I love death metal and i love the old school stuff like sabbath and dio. We can all be one big happy metal family.
Metal & hard rock stays with you forever because it has such a fantastic beat & talented musicians - that sound remains in your head forever and makes you feel so powerful. Other genres of fans come and go...but rock/metal has had the most passionate, dedicated fans.
Like Geezer said, the musicianship in metal and hard rock is on a very high bar, all agree on that: In the old days though, people seemed to have somewhat of an agreement on what a ‘good song’ sounds like, whereas nowadays I’d say it sounds like some ‘hard’ music is purposely ‘not good’ sounding. There is a time and place for everyone in music, and experimentation is god, but I’m talking about the spawning of the music. Punk and metal fail when they become right-wing politically-the doom-and-gloom is from the mistreatment people feel from the money-class, and hard rock and metal are the cure, because they give you back the ‘power’ feeling in your mind, like we’re all in this together against the thing that pushes us down. If we start becoming the persecutor, we become the enemy. Black Sabbath and Ozzy sang about nuclear annihalation, and DK’s sing about pollution and so love you guys I love sabbath I love dead kennedys, but Dio: Rainbow In The Dark, that’s all I know: now that’s some classic hard-rock imagery. 🤟😜🤘
Exactly how I've described em for years...There's some damn fine song instrumentation and playing talent that just gets destroyed by that vocal style. It's like "Mumble Metal."
Same here the musicianship is phenomenal but once singer kicks in it's just not my thing and I notice that if these bands open for more melodic acts the audience just gets up and leaves slot of promoters mistook and end up getting these bands and there is a following but yeah don't get them to open up for Sebastian Back or Ozzy because no body can stand the bad vocals no
I think today no matter how good you are, you can't really take off like the bands did in the 70s and 80s. The music is definitely there but the fans don't care. There are no music scenes anymore which bands can use to build a following like the bay area thrash scene. If you play out no one cares. Most of the bands that make it today are mostly industry plants.
Metallica is a great band I’m more into the singing, then screaming I suppose and also I like Megadeth and also Guns N’ Roses are also in the hard rock to metal genre categories
If you wanna kinda act like a maniac, yell out in public, with an idea about it, make a band, say your stuff, you can go out in front of the world (some people in a room)), and you do your thing, and no-one can say a thing; whereas if you say it in the line at the wammy-burger you look insane.
