Figured out a really cheesy way to get a tier 5 - CA Pls dont fix / battlesey #warhammer3 #warhammer #totalwar Set up of cheese: 0:00 The cheese starts 2:42
It factors your losses. An added wizard that lost 2/3rds of its health made the win less "heroic". Its dumb byt you can sorta figure out why it works the way it does
I'm pretty sure heroic victory means your army has way less value than the enemy but still wins. The value added by the wizard is enough to tip it into pyrrhic
Since they changed how 'victories' work, it's just flavour. I constantly get 'close victory', losing 0 units, smashing the siege with my flying lords and wizards, because I used half of all my ammo. Makes no sense at all, but that's how maths of 'balance of power' works behind the scenes - so that's how it is calculated.
@jakubs.5966 I mean it does make sense to an extent. Why on earth should balance of power be equal if I have 19 melee units with better stats be the same value as 19 of your ranged units that have little to no ammo left?
Gelt literally turned into Julis Caesar here! Won a great campaign in a foreign land, checked Had a triumphant parade back in the capital, checked Performed a Coup d'état, checked Get stabbed thrity something times... check?
Ways to improve this: - more lords that actually have been recruiting before homecoming - sack more in Cathay - sack last settlement in Cathay (and take with single lord) to have movement in the turn you arrive. - because of a second decent lord you might get a second province also within those ten turns. Also... Gelt suddenly likes jungle climate. Completely unrelated.
And now that I think about it. They said that they were reserving the elite infantry unit spot on Cathay for the Monkey King, and seing how he is a key player in the defences against Kuresh and Ind invasions he might come with them! might even be a FLC!
you're missing something very important. MARIENBURG. it's close by and you can easily get it to tier 5 thanks to this and you'll have a great fully built port and are in a prime location to assist middenland and Nordland as well as repel norscan threats if needed. this will allow franz ai to focus on the east and deal with the vampires
@zacharyjackson1829 marienburg in the lore is also formally independent from the empire. There's actually treaties stating that the land is formally recognized as rebel holdings of nordland. Gelt returning from Cathay with Richie's before seizing the richest port in the old world is VERY in character for the master of metal.
I do get the feeling that this will be fixed to be only 'once per settlement' by the time the rest of us get access to this on release, but a fun find for sure. :D
Auto resolve is funny thing. Was auto resolving a battle in ogre campaign. Close victory. Feeding some meat to my boys should improve the odds right? (More charge, speed and unit mass.) When i added 1-2 meat the result hasnt changed. If i give them 3-4 it dropped to pyrrhic victory........ At 5 it went back to close again. I spend a whole minute staring at my screen, trying to find any semblance of logic to this. Think i heard Tzeench laughing in the background.
You should compare the actual result of said auto resolve (how much damage you took, units killed and the same for the enemy) - instead of the "close / pyrrhic" descriptor. It's not always the best indicator.
@@JenoSnetrem Good point. Couldnt find the old save to check sadly. The autoresolve overall is woking mostly okay. But it feels to me, that the background system that calculates battle results randomly decides to go against logic. Its one of those many little things that makes the game annoying to deal with. Especially in late game. Rogue army attacked my unwalled, imperial minor tier 2 settlement. Fullstack of goblins, archers, spider riders and 2 bastilladons. The game calculated close victory for me. And then there are battles which i can win no problem with minimal casualties, but if i went with auto resolve, it wipes some of my units. Even when it gives me decisive victory. Just why.....
Would it be cheaper to build up the second army as much as possible? More units should reduce the cost of colonization and you have -100% upkeep during that period anyway.
Do you know if any of the new building have ability to increase lord recruitment rank? I see that they removed Imperial Academy, which was great to boost levels in the later stages of the game
It's only for selected partners, so far. We have to wait until the 30th for Gelt's cheese, hunting Tamurkan for his defeat trait and enacting the age of reckoning.
@@MadManchou literally. For a lot of these "game breaking updates" you have to do things in such a specific and silly manner that you're only gonna get there if you specifically aim for it. This means that the only people that encoiunter it are people already cheesing
@@MadManchou Look at Papa Karl's +2pop decree. Doesn't cost much, can bump you from 3 to 5 instantly. And that's an intended mechanic (unlike the cheese above)
Triumphant homecoming should have beend a confed with Franz and some boni. Having to fight another elector count in 10 turns and take their territory doesnt work from a roleplay perspective. Triumphant homecoming. Slaughter of a whoke county xD
@@cossack9991 So you don't use trade agreements, confederations, alliances, and non-aggression pacts, then? You surely just attack, and do nothing else? Muppet.
You can infact do it with Marienburg and Middenheim at the same time if your willing to go into negative gold for a while. You need 4 lords to really manage to get 2 different provinces to 5 but its very possible. You will be at like -2000 gold per turn by that can maintain that loss for the 10 turns that you need to.
Just like you can still do lord steal from other races. If the borrowed army dies from attrition, with the lord and last units dying at the same time... then you actually get that lord
@@jakubs.5966 they dont watch Legend's videos or look at reports from him. they literally have him blacklisted and a folder of his suggestions that might as well just be named "trash" at this point
Just wander if you can get landmark from cathay and come back to empire by occupying your starting settlement that you abbandon before you leave. You are going to give back all cathay settlements to zhao BUT maybe you can keep some settlements taken from ghorst... CA please do not patch that.
this wont work. yes you can abandon before you give zhao your lands but ALL of your armies teleport back to the empire with you. unless you're just hoping nobody colonizes the settlement before you take the 12-15 turn journey back with a single lord to take it which is unlikely going to work
@@zacharyjackson1829 I wanted to take settlement outside of cathay and tought zhao will not take it back. Then recriut lord next turn and colonize settlement with landmark. I dont know it will work, it depends on how this mechanic was programmed.
@kapixniecapix3869 that could work but it would require you to declare war on someone in the area and they won't accept peace and you'd have to make sure that settlement is well garrisoned. The coding could actually be a bit of a lie and it will just assume ALL the territories you've captured so far is in Cathay and give all of them to Zhao but who knows til we see for ourselves
I'm loving everything about the new Thrones of Decay DLC so far. It seems like they're really pulling off the gloves in allowing you to become OP, and I love it.
The game isn't balanced before thrones anyway and it probably never will be, I'd rather they make fun mechanics that can be used in a way of breaking the game, if you want challenge you can use mods or extra rules
If you're going to use something like this, why not just use the console mod and cheat yourself the population? It's effectively the same except it's more immersive and lore-friendly (let's say Gelt brings bunch of people with him from Cathay)..
The devs could made the bonus a growth bonus. Or possibility to confederate. But This is playing the game EXACTLY as the devs intended. A perfectly balanced game. *sips Yorkshire tea
