In this film I share a rig that was recently shown to me and I believe will fish very well. The slight tweaks and short length will help increase hook-ups and prevent tangles.

I always seems to be behind everyone else when watching your vids but this one is excellent and solves my problems. Using an up and over rig with Trident parts I found that trying to hook the line over the Trident catch was difficult on a windy day. I liked the long snood but trying to manage the rig could be frustrating. However, I note that one of the contributors here suggests using a five foot rig and a five foot snood. Brilliant !! Gives me the long snood without the up and over rig blowing all over the place. I also use the Gemini Splash down which anchors the hook very firmly until the release is triggered. One other small point. When using the Gemini Connectors I found that at times the line tangled and disengaged from the Connector. I found (so far) that a small dab of rig glue ties the connector together and stops losing part of the rig but is easy to disconnect hook snoods etc. Perhaps the lazy man's way of doing things but it works for me.

I do like a 5’ pulley for the ease of use and streamlined delivery. There are some aspects of the tide and method of delivery that favour the pulley compared to an up and over. I feel a pulley rig is best fished when sent slightly uptide forming the triangle between weight/hook/mainline. When using the up’n’over at slack I always draw back on the rig as it falls through the water.

The SRT spring was someone else’s idea but I wanted to share it as it is very simple but effective. Let me know how you get on with the rig. 👍🏻🎣

What a great yet simple idea... Almost turns it into a semi fixed bolt rig

Simplicity is a beautiful thing and yes it is a bit like a bolt rig but I was careful not to call it that. 👍🏻

Lovely! An SRT spring to protect the snood from the dreaded spider crabs? What a brilliant idea! I like short pulley rigs, but I also like a 5ft rig body and 5ft snood when fishing the Bristol Channel. It's all great fun!

I wanted to show this rig as it is a variation that can fish amazingly well. Both the rig and SRT spring were shown to me and I have shared. Sharing is caring. 🎣

Wow just how simple was the anti spider crab adjustment to any hook length. I will definitely be trying that one out. Also I have been using the Breakaway imp since it was introduced and I have never thought of encapsulating the hook in that way. Pure genius, great advice. I will be keeping an eye on the channel, and looking through your back catalogue. Thigh lines

Hi Ray, I can’t take credit for everything on the channel as a lot of the ideas are passed on to me through the comments or community tab. I share the best ones or incorporate them into my own fishing showing at a later date. We all benefit that way. 👍🏻

Another great video. Really like the srt spring, tip. Going to try the rig when the Atlantic properly wakes up. I dabbled with it last winter, but as I reuse my rig bodies, I found that the silicone tubing would snap sometimes halfway through the second or third session. So it could be worth using two pieces of tubing and leaving one at the bottom of the rig.

Hi fella, try clipping two of these together. Nice short double pulley rig for scratching when bites are hard to come by adding the scent of two baits. Kind regards Ben
@seaangling
@seaangling 9 месяцев назад
It is a consideration for a future video where single pulleys can be made up and clipped together exactly as you describe. Could be single, double or possibly a treble if used with the longer rods.

Hi Mark. Nice to see you are keeping well. Canny, informative video of a tidy little rig. Have you gone back to Gemini because of a problem with termlinks etc, or just personal preference? Looking forward to your fishing videos. Take care and stay safe. 😷

Hi Ian, this rig was shown to me by a friend and I’ve made changes based on what I thought would work well. I do pick and chose components depending on their use rather than loyalty to a brand. The use of Gemini and an IMP were because I thought they best suited the rig. Termalinks are a personal favourite of mine.

Great videos Mark! keep up the good work. The SRT spring idea is a great one, saves faffing about with braided hook lengths that tangle if you look at them funny! Been having a play with the new trident stuff myself. Not a fan of the pulley clip, the whole rubbing lines bothers me and if like me you use a strong rig body (ie 100lb) it can actually stop the bead from sliding on the slightly thicker mono. on sandy beaches i can see it clogging with sand and then damaging the line as it passes over itself. If they had just kept it a simple small pear shape similar to the proper pulley they would have been onto a winner for sure! the clips and the roto are also great products, my only niggle with the roto is that they should have made the hole bigger for the thicker hooks so hopefully they work on that. Defiantly keep your snoods short for hound rigs! around a foot I have found is perfect here in north devon :)
@seaangling
@seaangling 2 года назад
I’ve been using the newer Dynaform which is light years better than the aeropulley. The revise Termalink has a larger hole and shoulders which protect the line. All in some nice subtle alterations.
@rockhopperross1562
@rockhopperross1562 2 года назад
@@seaangling yea I've recently picked up some of the dynaform pully beads and they are much better than the previous version, although they are still a tad tight on the heavier rig bodies but still a huge improvement. Had my first roto failure last night which I was a bit gutted about tbh have used imps for many years and always had them tucked right in tight behind namix lead with no issues at all but the roto failed to release in the same layout last night... il keep using them in case it was a one off but might have to change my lead choice for using rotos if it continues 🤔

This is the video i have been searching for Mark, feeding the Imp through to the back then placing the hook into it making the hook more captive, thanks for the video its brilliant.Did you discover this use of the Imp?
@seaangling

John, I can’t claim the idea and I forget where I’ve seen it or who showed it to me. A lot of stuff like this get fed back into the comments and then I show it after trying it out. I get a lot of tips sent to me and I do my best to share the good ones.

Hi mark watched your video on the short pulley rig.And I was just wondering if you could go straight through with the line if your using the same line for the hook length. In this order imp stop knot bead swivel bead stop knot or crimp hook of choice what do you think thanks Rob.
@seaangling
@seaangling 2 года назад
That would remove a “complication” and simplify the rig. There are 2 reasons for the swivel in my mind. 1. Here in the Solent area we get strap eels that twist and wreck rigs. The swivel helps to reduce this. 2. The swivel helps gives that mid point for the weight to “sit on” despite the hook snood being clipped down. I think your suggestion would work well and I did use that configuration for my shore caught skate with the line straight through. 🎣👍🏻
@robertdavies7601
@robertdavies7601 2 года назад
@@seaangling Maybe a swivel on the imp might stop the twist .If it works then the hook length would not be a problem.

I chose the pulley beads as I like the way the recess allows for the beads that go on the rig. Can I ask why you prefer power swivels, is that instead of the pulley bead?
