In this session I set out to target/catch smooth-hounds from a local mark. Armed with only 1/2lb of ragworm and a few wraps of black lug it felt like an uphill task but the weather and tides were too good to miss.
The first bait got hit very early into the session and then an epic battle ensued.
Park Shore is a private venue where day tickets or annual passes can be purchased from the Beaulieu estate which includes parking.
The clothing i wear in this film is my favourite in comparison to anything else i have tried/worn and is available from…

Sting Rays are dangerous animals with either 1 or multiple venomous barbs on their tails. The tails can be moved surprisingly fast and can reach over the top of it’s head in a whip like fashion. The ray uses this to protect itself and could cause serious/painful injury. Please be careful if targeting these fish.

Hi Mark just joined your channel and this was the first video. Really enjoyed it as you showed how to build the rig in a way that I could follow easily and without any rewinds 😊😊😊 I learned a lot especially about rig building and the components. I have just retired and I'm getting back into fishing after 30 odd years, so almost everything is Alien to me. Your vids are easy to follow and understand. Thanks again keep it going and Tight Lines.

Always good to hear that the filming helps others and we can all share our findings. The comments section is always a good source of information, sometimes more so than the film itself. The season is on the turn and will improve moving into spring. 🎣👍🏻

We generally put about 6 worms on head hooked,then wrap elastic around them on a bait needle to make a worm sausage

I have used that method as well when targeting them but also caught them on small baits as well. The first one in this film was on a single worm. 🤷‍♂️

Great video and tutorial, having decided to concentrate solely on sea fishing, this has been an ideal watch for me. I live on the NE cost of Scotland, I don't know if we have rays being caught from the beach in this aera, but how you do your fishing is fantastic to watch, organised and clean. A great lesson for any angler.

@@seaangling I've only fished there twice in the winter, usually during big storms. Other than a few small bass, you're right, it's pretty baron. My mate used to fish it 20 plus years ago and had some big cod out. Biggest was 18lb if I remember rightly. Also seen a pic of a tope down there!

Really enjoyable & watchable video, awesome fish, congratulations on PB. I feel the same as you regarding the mag knob, on the casting special, thinking of changing same (adjustment knob only)to one of the “dial knob type) apart from the adjustable dial knob, they are brilliant and forgiving casting reels, really like mind, but if I purchase another it would be the standard fathom SD, still magged but with the dial knob, plus lower metreage of line, but CS too much line ! Go Steady
@seaangling
@seaangling 11 месяцев назад
I agree with everything you say about the fathoms. I think my preference will be to eventually keep a pair of casting specials modded with the flat dials and buy a pair of fathom 12’s for the clean ground lighter stuff. Best of both worlds. At the moment I have 4 CS’s, 2 loaded with 20lb and 2 loaded with 14lb line.

How did you find the century fireblades in the end compared to the 6 & baits? Which length did you go for in both?
@seaangling
@seaangling 7 месяцев назад
Sorry for the slow response. I found the mk1 Fireblades too stiff in the tip but soft in the middle. Very poor bite detection and the tip would pull a grip lead. I think that may have been the driver to switch to a glass tip on the mk2. The 6&B are more progressive but still quite strong at the tip. Good over medium to rough ground but not what I needed. The switch to the match pros have given me all that I personally need in length, strength and bite indication. Hope that helps. 🎣👍🏻
