Gemma is such a classy woman. I love her demeanor and the way she speaks, it's so soothing. I smiled when she said the Crazy Rich Asians chat is still going strong. I love the connection the cast still has with each other!
She’s such a well spoken individual, it’ll be great if she launched a podcast just speaking on current affairs or any other topics. I could just listen to her and her thoughts on things.
As a British Chinese Asian, I can relate to this interview in so many ways! This is the first interview I've seen that addresses the issues of British Chinese women growing up in the UK and being represented in society. Gemma you are so inspiring! Thank you to British Vogue for this great interview.
The UK has always had a mixed population Asians like everyone else have to compete with everyone else. There is nothing stopping you from going for your goals in life. In my class there are, 43 nationalities.
I wish the UK would be more like Japan where BLM came and was flat out failed in infiltrating all these color and racism nonsense. Don't you think that because the Jaoanese got a stronger grip on themselves 👉 their identity and their culture and not airways giving fuss to Liberal medias such as Vogue? I can listen up to sone really authentic subjects but not this video unfortunately. Really boring to label every type of society friction as racism. People are allowed to not like you in one shot.. do you feel you always treat 100% fairness to everybody you just met in first 5 minutes?
Can we just take a moment for interviewer Zing Tsjeng ! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 ... What a brilliant interview. And Gemma is effortless and so down to earth. Loved this, thank you Vogue !
As a young Asian Australian woman, watching this really touched and lifted my heart. A beautiful deep dive into asian immigrant identity that I really related to. Loved this so much.
What a lovely candid conversation! I loved that they talked about these important issues. I found it so interesting - time just flew by. Can’t believe Gemma is on the September cover, I’m so excited ahhh
Thank you so much for this powerful interview. I’m a Chinese American female with parents who grew up in Hong Kong. Since the 1970’s I grew up in Caucasian dominated cities. You learn to adapt to your environment good or bad. I’ve been able to do small roles over the years, but only as the token Asian. Only recently was I asked to play a role using Cantonese. I was nervous at first, but feel better knowing that this wasn’t about race, just diversity. Living in Portland, Oregon- the city of protesters and protests, you do see up front how much mental and physical damage racism does. I constantly worry about my father who also lives here. I absolutely love this city and only hope things change for the better. 🙏
Im in love with her after eternals. The kind ,powerful, joyful, deep and strong ,soft person she played gave me hope. It seems like her character in real life is close to the character she played.
Gemma glossed her answers with intelligence, too sexy to handle and drawn it from her core values, it's worth to be heard. Smart interviewer made so much roOm for her to occupies space for us to listen. Enjoyed every bit of a second.TY for sharing!
The interviewer is really good! Just wanna shout out to zing tsjeng, I first watched your videos from vice - you are an excellent presenter. So proud of you and so glad to know that you are from Singapore as well. Keep doing what you do~! Best wishes
Samesies ladies! Completely lost the opportunity to be multilingual because the grandparents and the parents feared the children wouldn't assimilate 😥On a lighter note, such a wonderful interview! Looking forwards to more representation and stimulating interviews 💕
That was a brilliant interview! Delightful as well. It saddens me as to why we humans can't accept all humans as one?! Why must there be colors, class, hatred, and so on going on, aren't we all one species ''Human"! ? I am really glad there's an awareness being created. Hopefully there will come a day everyone can accept everyone as ONE.
Gemma massively outclasses, outsmarts the interviewer in every possible way lol.. She is the more confident one in the interview. The interviewer really asks a lot of questions that make herself (the interviewer) feel insecure while Gemma has close to none such insecurities.
You know something that if we do #RestoretheSnyderverse and if Amy Adams were to be replaced by someone else of color who would resemble the character in an alternate way, I'd choose between Rosa Salazar or Gemma Chan.
We need to look at women as woman and not as their race and culture... I am a Chinese Canadian woman and believe that us woman need to come up with a new movement
