I make whistle pieces like that as well. I don’t melt it though, I put the end that I’m breaking off in the vice and tighten it so I can snap it off.

I had to use the exact method for my Billy bones. And I used Henry’s paddles to fix it as well. And mine still touches the plaque, but I’m fine with that and it still works.

You should get a dremal then you can fine cut the whistles piece to shape

I find it clever that you used a hinge to make a whistle piece, can you do anything to make a makeshift spring?
